법치주의 사회에서는 개인적으로 혹은 단체의 입장에서 모두 법률정보를 필요로 하지만, 특히 법률전문직에 종사하는 사람들은 그들의 사회적 임무와 역할이 법률과 관련되어 있으므로 더욱 강하게 법률정보를 필요로 한다. 이들에게 보다 효율적으로 법률정보를 제공하기 위하여는 정보시스템을 구축하는 것이 필요하고, 이 시스템은 이용자의 정보요구와 이용행태에 적합하도록 즉 이용자의 요구를 충분히 반영할 수 있는 내용을 수록하며, 이용자의 연구습관 및 연구행태 등을 고려하여 마련하여야 하므로, 법률전문직 종사자의 정보요구와 이용행태에 관한 조사는 적절한 시스템의 구축을 위한 선결조건이다. 따라서 본고에서는 법률전문직을 두 집단 즉 실무가 (판사, 검사, 변호사)와 학자(법학교수)로 나누어, 각 집단의 법률정보에 대한 태도, 정보요구와 이용행태의 패턴 및 법률정보원에 대한 태도에 관하여 조사한후, 두 집단의 정보에 관한 특성을 비교하였다. 그 조사결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 실무가와 학자 모두 그들의 연구를 위하여 주로 사용하는 것은 인쇄 자료로서의 판례집과 법령집이다. 그러나 이들 자료중에서 주로 이용되는 자료는 두 집단간에 차이를 보이고 있다. 2) 실무가와 학자 모두 일차자료들의 수록범위, 수록내용, 검색방법 등에 관하여 만족을 못하지만, 특히 검색방법에 대한 불만이 가장 크게 나타나고 있다. 이용자는 일반적으로 특정 주제어에 의하여 필요한 법률정보에 접근하기를 원하지만 이러한 요구를 충족시켜 주지 못한다. 3) 두 집단은 그들의 역할이 각기 다르므로 따라서 선호되는 법률정보의 종류에 대한 순서에 있어서 차이가 있다. 4) 도서관에 대한 태도에 있어서 두 집단은 상이한 입장을 보이고 있다. 학자들의 과반수는 중요 정보원으로서 자신의 개인장서를 활용하며, 도서관의 장서 및 그 조직방법에 대해서도 별로 만족하지를 못하고 있다. 반면에, 실무가들은 도서관에 대하여 비교적 만족하며 따라서 도서관에 대한 이용도도 높다. 5) 두 집단 모두 보조인을 적극적으로 활용하지 않으며 사서의 도움을 받는 경우도 극소수에 불과하다. 이러한 조사결과를 기초로 하여 볼 때 법률전문직을 둘러싼 정보환경을 개선하기 위하여는, 인쇄된 일차적 정보자료의 검색방법등을 개선하고, 나아가서는 법령과 판례정보를 위한 효율적인 시스템을 구축하며, 뿐만 아니라 이용자의 요구에 충분히 대처할 수 잇는 도서관으로 변화되는 것이다. 이와 함께 가장 중요한 것은 법과대학과 사법연수원에서 법학 연구방법에 관한 강좌를 개설하여 각종 법률정보원의 활용 내지 도서관 이용방법에 관하여 교육하는 것이다.

This study examines trends of web query types and topics submitted to NAVER during one year period by analyzing query logs and click logs. There was a seasonal difference in the distribution of query types. Query type distribution was also different between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. The log data show seasonal changes in terms of the topics of queries. Search topics seem to change between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. However, there was little change in overall patterns of search behavior across one year. The implications for system designers and web content providers are discussed.

This study aims to investigate information seeking behavior of mobile-based Web users, especially, college students. This study also evaluates mobile search services based on various criteria, and suggests how to improve portal's mobile search services. The results of this study show that the most urgent improvement is needed in the contents of mobile search services. Improvements are also required in the area of interface design followed by accessibility and mobile search functionalities. The results of this study can be applied to the portal's effective development of mobile search services.

본 연구에서는 시소러스를 구축하기 위해 필요한 디스크립터 수집원으로써 이용자 로그데이터를 분석하여 후보 디스크립터의 외형적 특성을 분석하였다. 분석대상인 이용자 로그데이터는 국내 검색엔진가운데 야후와 라이코스를 대상으로 하였다. 분석결과, 이용자들은 대부분 검색어로써 명사와 복합명사를 사용하였으며, 조사 '의'이외에는 다른 품사로 이루어진 검색어는 거의 존재하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 검색어로써 이용자들은 고유명사(외국어 포함)를 많이 사용함으로써, 국내외 지침에서 권고하는 고유명사의 최소한 사용지침과 실제 이용자 사이의 이용행태와의 차이를 알 수 있었다. 따라서 국내외 시소러스 개발지침을 수용하면서, 이용자 중심의 시소러스를 개발하기 위해서는 전거어나 유사어 사전을 대등관계와 연동하여 개발하는 것을 고려해야 한다.

The alms of this study is to analyse the user's behavior, satisfaction, difficulties and selection of retrieval keywords for the use of Web-based OPAC in the College students. The methods of the questionnaire and the interview was applied to get the data and processed by using SPSSWIN 10.1. Several research results was proved the hypothesis such as differences between major subject of students in their fields. Furthermore, based on the result of this analysis, another purpose is to come up with the Improvements of functions prompting difficulties and answers to problems found in the Web OPAC, helping them to use the Web OPAC efficiently.

With the understandings on users' needs and behaviors of university institutional repositories, the purpose of this study is to investigate the user behaviors and to provide some suggestions to improve the university institutional repository. To achieve the purpose of this study, a questionnaires survey was conducted with users in three university institutional repositories including KOSAS, S-Space and DSpace@INHA. Based on the results of the survey analyses, possible improvement areas and suggestions were made such as users' recognition, access point, searching environment, and utilization of university institutional repository.

Recently, children's internet search engines are becoming the main method to access information. For those engines to function properly, search behavior of children as their searchers should be studied and the findings be applied to design and improve the systems. So an experiment was conducted and 22 3rd-grade elementary school students performed 3 searching tasks through 'Junior Naver' and 'Yahoo!꾸러기' which are representative children's search engines in Korea. Children's searching behavior was analyzed thoroughly through which the problems of children's search engines were diagnosed and recommendations were suggested to improve them.

The purpose of this study is to review the characteristics of a web-based question-answer service and to analyze the information needs and use behavior of the service for a more efficient question-answer service plan. On the basis of the findings, this study makes suggestions for the question-answer service in respect of reinforcing the effectiveness of information itself and the efficiency of question-answer services. The speciality. accuracy. and specificity including the variety of themes should be improved for more effective information. Also. interactivity. readiness. and convenience should be improved for a more efficient service.

This study reviews academic library users' information needs, use behaviors, and information literacy by examining previous literature related to academic library use study. The information academic library users want most is information about how to use library such as a circulation policy. Only about 10% of library users' information needs requires reference librarian's professional knowledge and skills. The sign and information system of the library should be improved and revised in order to reduce the redundant how-to questions. When academic library users attempt to do subject searches through online library system, they experience difficulties to find the right menu on the library's interface. The study recommends that special efforts should be made for user education for utilizing research information since user's information utilizing ability is unexpectedly low.

Server transaction logs containing complete click-through data from a digital library of primarily image-based documents were analyzed to better understand user search session behavior. One month of data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and network analysis methods. The findings reveal iterative search behaviors centered on result views and evaluation and topical areas of focus for the search sessions. The study is novel in its combined analytical techniques and use of click-through data for image collections.
