  • Since IR systems which adopt only Boolean IR model can not provide ranked search result, users have to conduct time-consuming checking process for huge result sets one by one. This study proposes a method to provide search results ranked by using coupling information between tags instead of index weight information in Boolean IR model. Because document queries are used instead of general user queries in the proposed method, key tags used as queries in a relevant document are extracted. A variety of groups of Boolean queries based on tag couplings are created in the process of extracting queries. Ranked search result can be extracted through the process of matching conducted with differential information among the query groups and tag significance information. To prove the usability of the proposed method, the experiment was conducted to find research trend analysis information on selected research information. Aslo, the service based on the proposed methods was provided to get user feedback for a year. The result showed high user satisfaction.

  • Despite the fact that Internet users around the world watch YouTube every day, very few users accurately recognize the recommendation algorithm for search results, and Google and YouTube are not disclosing it. Researchers tried to explore the undisclosed algorithm of YouTube in a reverse engineering design method, find key factors, and check the logical structure in which media platform operators recommend keyword search results and arrange them on the screen. Therefore, researchers studied the basic content priority factors through several months of discussion and data collection, and tried to reverse engineer the influencing factors based on the recommendation results according to male and female gender among the collected keyword search results. Although researchers' design only analyzed some of the almost infinite level of data uploaded and viewed for more than hundreds of hours every hour, these exploratory attempts will study media platform algorithms in the future, understand the intentions of operators, and protect users. thought it could be done.

  • The patent information retrieval system can serve a variety of purposes. In general, the patent information is retrieved using limited key words. To identify earlier technology and priority rights repeated effort is needed. This study proposes a method of content-based retrieval using text mining. Using the proposed algorithm, each of the documents is invested with characteristic value. The characteristic values are used to compare similarities between query documents and database documents. Text analysis is composed of 3 steps: stop-word, keyword analysis and weighted value calculation. In the test results, the general retrieval and the proposed algorithm were compared by using accuracy measurements. As the study arranges the result documents as similarities of the query documents, the surfer can improve the efficiency by reviewing the similar documents first. Also because of being able to input the full-text of patent documents, the users unacquainted with surfing can use it easily and quickly. It can reduce the amount of displayed missing data through the use of content based retrieval instead of keyword based retrieval for extending the scope of the search.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the improvement plan of Korea Network for Occupations and Workers(KNOW) in terms of the information quality and usefulness for undergraduate students.'Homework of occupational information exploration'as research instrument was assigned to the engineering students taking career courses at KoreaTech in Chungnam province, Korea. Data was collected from two-hundred sixty six college students. The main results were as follows: The percentage of awareness of KNOW was very low(7.5%), but the mean of preference(73.5) and usefulness of career readiness(70.6) of KNOW were likely to be high. The information quality of KNOW was analysed in terms of both menu bar and evaluative components. In menu bar, the highest mean of information quality was'wage, job satisfaction, and job outlook'menu bar(71.7). On the other hand'task information on the job'had the lowest mean. In evaluative component, the highest mean of information quality was understandability(73.4), whereas the completeness was at the bottom(63.7). These results implied that the KNOW has the usefulness for engineering students to explore the occupational information and to make ready for career. • One of the fundamental roles of libraries is to provide users with efficient and easy retrieval of materials. Various discussions have been made at domestic and abroad to improve the accessibility of materials by category, user, and collection, and at the center of this is the issue of improving classification and cataloging systems. However, there are few studies in this area dealing with the data accessibility of the DLS catalog, which is a central tool for accessing domestic school library materials. This study started from the appeal of school library users to the difficulty of searching and accessing books, especially literature. This study is an exploratory study that attempts to derive problems by finding the causes of there difficulties from various aspects. To this study, we surveyed and analyzed the current status of school library collections, the data registration of the school library support system DLS, the subject accessibility of catalog records produced through this, and the recognition and opinions of school library professionals. As a result, school library collections were highly concentrated in the literature field, and it was found that there was not enough catalog bibliographic records to provide efficient access to these collections. In addition, it was found to be somewhat lacking through the DLS search function to compensate for this. Surveys of school librarians and librarians have also identified this problem, and a rich topic index and search keyword assignments have been drawn to the majority of opinions as a way to improve access to materials in school library catalogs. As a continuous discussion on this subject, the plan for improving access to school library materials will be more concrete through future user studies and new challenges for bookshelf classification.

  • Theses and Dissertation(TD) have been considered one of valuable scholarly resources, while there have existed some limitations to collect, organize, and provide them. The purpose of this study is to investigate users' perception on six TD services from five institutions and to propose improvement strategies. Six TD services includes National Library, National Assembly Library, RISS, dCollections, NDSL, and Council of Theses and Dissertation Common Use. Based on the survey results from 151 users, the findings of this study identified that National Assembly Library and RISS were preferred by users. In addition, users preferred keyword, full text, department, abstract, table of contents, as well as title and author over other bibliographic information. More importantly, users needs were placed on whether specific TD services provide full text or not. In case that is not possible to provide full text, users have a preference for full text link information. As a result, in order to improve the TD services, service promotion activities, diverse access points, and full text provision are desirable.
