A Study on Developing a Manual for User Service of National and Public Library (국립 및 공공도서관 이용자 응대서비스 매뉴얼 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Recently libraries are experiencing an increasing number of difficult patrons because of the increase in the unemployment rate and the problem of mental health in their communities. The problem behaviours of difficult patrons have negative influence to other users and staff in the library. This seems closely associated with the decline in the quality of library services. Therefore, in this study, we developed a how-to-do-it manual for library staff to meet the aforementioned challenges and to enhance the overall quality of library services for both general users and difficult patrons.

Empirical Research to Understand the User Perception and Requirement of Library 2.0 (라이브러리 2.0에 대한 이용자 인식 및 요구사항에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • In this study, we wanted to find out about the perceptions and the requirements of the academic information service users about the Library 2.0. This study used the survey research method, which utilized the web-based survey using the academic information service users as the target population. Specifically, we studied whether and how the users recognized and experienced the Web 2.0 technologies and its related services with respect to Library 2.0. In addition, we gathered the requirements for the Library 2.0 concept applied information services. The analysis results showed that the users were in need of obtaining the most up-to-date information and also using the professional information services such as the experts generated information contents and the Google Scholar type document reference information services instead of the Library 2.0 services based on the Web 2.0 technologies.

  • The coronavirus infection-19 (hereinafter referred to as Corona 19) that occurred last year has not been ended until now. There have also been major changes in the library environment. This study focuses on changes in the library environment due to prolonged infectious diseases. In addition, it aims to derive implications for library services in the New Normal era by analyzing changes in user needs over time. For this purpose, we have comprehensively summarized the response activities of libraries due to the spread of Corona 19 in 2020, and analyzed changes in user needs that appeared on social media. Key terms were selected by collecting 496,741 tweets related to libraries in 2019 and 2020, and analysis by year and period by operation type was conducted. Through the analysis, the needs of library users in 2020 were classified into four issues, and the implications for each issue were derived.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the user interface of digital information service in university libraries. Twenty-eight university libraries are analyzed by five characteristics; access point, operational characteristics, interface listing items. user help function, search types. The result of this study shows that both functions and interface design of digital information service in university libraries need to be Improved.

  • In the digital library environment, user-librarian interaction is an essential echanism for dealing with user's information needs. This study, first, explores the importance of user-librarian interactions, and then a few types of interaction mechanisms are reviewed. A survey of the current trends in Korea is followed. finally, several ideas for activating user-librarian interactions are suggested with the purpose of giving effective information servicees.

  • Information retrieval on World Wide Web is very different from the one in traditional environment. Since Internet user's searching behavior shows it's own special search characteristics, a study of user's specific characteristics is necessary to offer better services. Through analysis and examination of Internet user behaviors, we suggest guidelines of design for developing Internet -based information retrieval systems.

  • E-Navigation 아키텍쳐 상세화 과정에서 이용자 요구사항은 안전항해 기능정의 레벨과 사용자 요구서비스 상세화 레벨로 나누어 입력된다. 본 연구는 연안해역에서 선박안전 항해를 지원하기 위하여 필요한 기본정보 및 서비스 레벨에서 정보를 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 도선사, 선장 및 VTS 운영자, 해양경찰청에 근무하는 항해경험이 풍부한 전문가를 대상으로 설문을 행하고 그 결과는 해양기상 및 해상상태 정보, 상황인식 및 충돌방지를 위한 정보로 나누어 정리하였다.

Development of Prototype Chatbot Based on Messenger App for Archival Reference Services: With Focus on the Archives & Records Center of Myongji University (기록정보서비스를 위한 메신저 기반의 챗봇 프로토 타입 개발 연구: 명지대학교 대학사료실을 중심으로)

  • The role of archives and records centers is expanding, however many potential users are not aware of the importance of the records and archives. As a method to improve the archival information services to users, in this study, we developed chatbot that supports the interaction between the users and the archives and records centers. Thus we examined the specific development procedures and methods, analyzed user requests and questions of the archives and records center of Myongji university as a case, and conducted a logical structure design for chatbot development. After building the chatbot based on IBM Watson Conversation and Kakaotalk messenger, we were able to find how the chatbot interacted with the users through a pilot run. Based on the experience of developing information service chatbot, the implications related the introduction of the chatbot were suggested which include determination of the level of the chatbot, analysis of the user requests, selection of the tool for the chatbot, and syntax setting for the conversational interaction.

  • The street lighting needs to provide safe and comfortable environment together with producing good atmosphere suitable for the pedestrian's various needs. Thus, the choice of the street lighting futures should be based on the needs of the them and the needs of the street rather than the precedences or appearances. This study proposes street lighting futures based on the need of the street lighting and their operation plan, and also analyzes the problems of current fixtures.

  • 대량의 정보를 취급하는 현대사회에서는 획득하는 정보를 모두 처리할 수 없어 이용자의 요구에 맞는 정보를 얻기 위해 정보 필터링 시스템을 사용한다. 그러나 정보 필터링 시스템이 이용자의 의도와 다르게 정보를 분류하거나 이용자의 다양한 요구를 반영하지 못할 때는 정보 필터링을 사용하지 않은 경우 보다 못할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 정보 필터링의 정확도를 향상시키기 위해 인간의 뇌에서의 정보처리 과정을 시뮬레이션하는 인지적 매핑의 정보 필터링 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 시스템은 특정 단어 또는 패턴만을 이용하여 필터링하는 기존 시스템과는 달리 단어의 존재, 단어와 단어의 연결이 창출하는 의미와 단어의 가중치를 종합하여 정보를 필터링하는 점에서 의의가 있다.
