  • This article aims to improve the cultural program for the resident writers in libraries by identifying the current status of the resident writer support project, examining users' perceptions and preferences, and investigating librarians' perceptions of the program. The research methods included an investigation (survey) of the program operation status, user perception and preference surveys, and interviews with librarians about their perceptions of the program. Data were collected from libraries with the cultural program for resident writers between May and November 2021. Findings showed there were challenges in operating the library cultural program due to the lack of resident writers' quality, frequent changes in the program formats (online or offline), and library closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the program improvement, suggestions were made, including inviting good-quality resident writers and writers from other fields to the program, training resident writers, advertising the programs using online and offline media, training staff, and developing programs considering user ages and preferences and diversity in local communities.

For this purpose, the awareness survey was conducted of users, and the survey consisted of questions about the awareness of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution, the current state of using technologies and devices of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution, and the futurity of libraries of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution. The results are as follows: First, users were interested in the $4^{th}$ industrial Revolution, but they thought that new technologies are poorly adopted in the libraries. Second, users were most frequently using mobile phone, QR code, and Beacon. Especially, mobile phone was a most frequently used device in the libraries. However, users were not satisfied with technologies and devices provided by the libraries. Third, users expected the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution have a positive influence on future of libraries, but they were worried about losses of opportunities and jobs. Forth, users agreed with necessity of new technologies of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution for libraries services. They wanted application of the technologies, expecially, in online services. Ultimately, this study suggested some meaningful insights and strategies through comparative analysis of the above findings and librarians' awareness survey results.

  • This study investigated the perceptions of librarians about Podcast and YouTube services in libraries. The study was designed by applying the Extended Technology Acceptance Model. Librarian's personal, organizational, and social awareness of library Podcast or YouTube services and the degree of understanding of users and their needs on services were mediated by perceived usefulness or ease of services= and influenced to having intentions and providing the services. First, we investigated the types of Podcast and YouTueb services provided by 39 libraries in Korea. Also, we collected data using an online survey method from 181 librarians and conducted hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Findings showed that libraries are using Podcast and YouTube appropriately considering features and functions of media, mainly for library event information/promotion, library programs, book recommendations, and author (librarian) lectures or interviews. Organizational or social awareness of librarians, i.e., library educational support, human resource supports, librarian recognition, job-related features, and understanding of user perceptions and needs, influenced the intention to provide library services. Also, there was a difference in perceived usefulness and ease of services between librarians who provided Podcast and YouTube services and those who did not. We expect that findings could be used as references to understand and support various aspects of librarians in charge of developing and providing Podcast or YouTube services in libraries.

  • The idea of Library 2.0 originated from the concept of Web 2.0 social interactions within the Web. From this aspect, Library 2.0 is a library blended with Web 2.0. The most remarkable features of Library 2.0 are interactions and user involvement. Users' roles in new library environments are greater since they can contribute to establishing a library collection by annotating, blogging, reviewing, etc. While users' roles become important, the responsibilities of the librarians increase due to the unfiltered information created by users. Librarians now should extend their roles as information creators, organizers, providers, managers, as well as moderators. In this paper, we reviewed the current literature on the new paradigm of digital libraries, Library 2.0, and the development of Library 2.0. In addition, we discuss the extended role of the Librarian 2.0 in Library 2.0.
