  • ICRF 또는 NB 시스템에 의해 가열된 고에너지 이온들을 측정하는 것은 핵융합 플라즈마에서 중요한 과제 중의 하나이다. 특히 ICRF를 이용한 D(H) 플라즈마의 H minority의 가열은 H의 분율에 따라 가열의 정도가 달라지고 이 결과는 이온의 고에너지 측정을 통해서 확인할 수 있으므로 정확한 고속 이온의 측정은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 고속 이온을 전하 교환된 중성입자로부터 측정하는 중성입자 검출기를 개발하였다. Si 광다이오드인 AXUV3ELA를 기반으로 50-300 keV 범위의 고에너지 H 및 D 이온을 측정할 수 있는 소형의 중성입자 검출기(Compact Neutral Particle Analyzer : CNPA)가 설계 제작되었다. 검출된 신호는 Pre-amp와 shaping amplifier를 통해 증폭되고 shaping 되며 마지막으로 다중채널 분석기(Multi Channel Analyzer : MCA)를 통해서 계수된다. 본 발표에서는 NPA의 구체적인 설계 특성과 함께 Am-241 gamma ray 선원을 이용한 NPA의 시험 및 보정결과를 보고할 예정이다.

Fabrication and Its Characteristics of Ion Energy Spectrometer for Diagnostics of Plasma (플라즈마 진단을 위한 이온에너지 분석장치의 제작 및 특성 조사)

  • An ion energy spectrometer which has the $45^{\circ}$ parallel electrostatic deflection plate was designed and constructed for measuring ion temperature in high temperature plasma. The energy calibration and the energy resolution were studied in detail for a hydrogen ion at the $0.24{\sim}1.92\;keV$ energy using electrostatic accelerator with a duoplasmatron ion source. The voltage of the deflection plate was linearly increased for the decreased ion detector position at the constant ion energy and decreased for the increased ion energy at the fixed ion detector position. The inclination of the deflection plate voltage to the ion energy was between 0.92 and 1.61, and linearly decreased for the increased the ion detector position. The measured energy resolution, which is $4.2%\;{\sim}\;11.6%$ in this experiment region, was improved for the increased ion dector position and ion energy. The relative efficiency was increased for the decreased the ion detector position. The ion energy spectrum of the DC plasma in the multi-purpose plasma generator was measured using this equipment. The ion temperature was 203-205 eV at the discharge voltage 320 V, discharge current 1.7 A.

Development of Schiff Base Column and Glow Discharge Detector for HPLC : Preliminary Study I (HPLC용 Schiff Base 컬럼과 Glow Discharge 검출기의 개발에 관한 기초연구 I)

  • Schiff base ligand columns and glow discharge detector have been developed for the trace analysis of metal ions desolved in water. Various types of hydrazide Schiff base ligands have been used and, additionally, they were examined as a filling material of a HPLC column. The hydrazide Schiff base ligands used were N, N'-oxalybis(salicylaldehydrazone) (OBSH), N, N'-malonylbis(salicylaldehydrazone) (MBSH), and N, N'-succinylbis(salicylaldehydrazone) (SBSH). A mixture of Schiff base ligand and poly(styrene divinylbenzene) was examined and it showed a smooth flow of solution. The OBSH-polymer column demonstrated different effluent factors for different metal ions. Metal ions in eluates were detected by Hollow Cathode Glow Discharge-Atomic Emission Spectrometry(HCGD-AES). HCGD-AES showed good sensitivity and selectivity. This is only the preliminary results of new OBSH-polymer column and glow discharge detector.

Acrylic Polymer Composition Suitable for Ion Delivery and Selective Detection of Proton, and Hydroxyl and Cu(II) Ions (이온 이동에 적합한 아크릴고분자 박막의 조성과 수소이온, 수산화이온, 구리이온의 선택적 검출)

  • Ion diffusion and chemical binding to acrylic polymer were investigated in a solid film. The composition of acrylic monomers containing amino group and carboxylic acid was adjusted for rapid ion migration in the film. p-Methylred (PMR) and phenolphthalein derivatives were optically sensitive to the concentration of proton and hydroxyl anion, respectively and verified the ion migration through the film layers. A rapid proton migration was observed in the film of a high amino content. On the other hand, $OH^-$ migration occurred rapidly in a high content of carboxylic acid group. The proton migration occurred through the internal layer as well as surface layer of a film and was reversible during 50 repetition examination. Copper(II) ion migration was examined with a Rhodamine-containing polymer film. The light absorption and emission spectra of a Rhodamine-Cu complex showed the key contribution of carboxylic acid group to the Cu(II) migration in a film.

고에너지 중이온 TOF-ERDA를 이용한 박막분석

  • 박막시료의 분석에는 RBS, XPS, SIMS, AES 등이 주로 이용되고 있으며, 특히 RBS는 비교체가 필요없고 정량성이 좋다는 장점 때문에 중요하다. 그러나 RBS는 원리적으로 경원소에 대한 감도가 낮아 기판원소보다 무거운 질량을 갖는 원소의 분석에만 이용되는 것이 보통이다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 본 연구에서는 수년전부터 RBS와 비슷한 원리를 갖고 같은 장비를 이용하여 수행이 가능한 경원소 분석법인 TOF-ERDA(Time of Flight Elastic Recoil detection)을 개발하여 실용화 하였다. 본 연구실에서 보유하고 있는 미국 NEC사의 5SDH 가속기는 최대 가속전압이 1.7MV로 Cl5+ 이온을 사용하는 경우 10 MeV가 최대 가속에너지가 된다. 이런 정도의 에너지 범위에서는 TOF spectrometer의 시간분해능이 아주 높을 필요가 없고 비교적 작은 가속기로도 분석이 가능하며, 수소의 검출효율이 우수하다는 점 등 많은 장점이 있다. 그러나 한편으로는 분석가능한 깊이가 수천 $\AA$ 정도로 제한되고 질량 분해능도 수십 MeV 내지 100MeV 이상의 고에너지 이온빔을 이용하는 경우에 비해 떨어진다는 단점이 있다. 또한 묵운 원소의 분석이 불가능하기 때문에 경원소의 분석에 국한하여 적용하고 무거운 원소에 대해서는 RBS를 병용하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 일본 이화학연구소의 선형가속기인 RILAC으로부터 얻은 40MeV Ar 이온 및 138 MeV Xe 이온을 이용하여 TOF-ERDA 시스템을 제작하였다. 그러기 위해서 고에너지 이온의 비행시간을 측정하는 목적으로 높은 시간 분해능을 갖는 시간 검출기를 설계, 제작하였다. 또한 표적함 밑에는 회전원판이 있어 시간검출기 및 에너지 검출기가 중앙의 시료홀더를 중심으로 회전이 가능하도록 되었다. 회전은 표적함 밖에서 원격조정 가능하다. 이렇게 함으로써 검출각을 임의로 바꾸면서 측정이 가능하도록 하였다. 제작된 분석시스템의 성능을 확인하기 위해 YBaCuO 초전도 박막을 측정하였으며 그 결과를 그림에 나타낸다. 저 에너지 ERDA에서는 나타나기 힘든 Ba, Y, Cu 등의 무거운 원소의 피크들이 분명히 나타남을 확인할 수 있다.

Dosimetric Characteristics of Detectors in Measurement of Beam Data for Small Fields of Linear Accelerator (선형가속기의 소조사면에 대한 빔 자료 측정에서 검출기의 선량 특성 분석)

  • Aquisition of accurate beam data is very important to calculate a reliable dose distribution of the treatment planning system for small radiation fields in intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS). For the measurement of small fields, the choice of a suitable detector is important due to the shape gradient in profile penumbra, the lack of lateral electronic equilibrium, and the effect of effective detector volume. Therefore, this study was to analyze the dosimetric characteristics of various detectors in measurement of beam data for small fields of linear accelerator. 0.01cc and 0.13cc ion chambers (CC01 and CC13) and a stereotactic diode detector(SFD) were used for measurement of small fields. The beam data, including the percent depth dose, output factor, and beam profile were acquired under 6 MV and 15 MV photon beams. Measurements were performed with the field size ranging from $2{\times}2cm^2$ to $5{\times}5cm^2$. For $2{\times}2cm^2$ field size, the differences of the ratios of $PDD_{20}$ and $PDD_{10}$ measured by CC01 and SFD detectors were 1.02% and 0.12% for 6 MV and 15 MV photon beams, respectively. For field sizes larger than $3{\times}3cm^2$, the differences of values of $PDD_{20}/PDD_{10}$ obtained from each detector were 1.15% and 0.71% for 6 MV and 15 MV photon beams, respectively. The output factors obtained from CC01 and SFD for $2{\times}2cm^2$ field size were within 0.5% and 1.5% for 6 MV and 15 MV, respectively. The differences in output factor of three detectors for $3{\times}3cm^2$ to $5{\times}5cm^2$ field sizes were within 0.5%. Profile penumbras measured by the SFD, CC01, and CC13 detectors at three depths were average 2.7 mm and 3.5 mm, 3.4 mm and 4.3 mm, and 5.2 mm and 6.1 mm for 6 MV and 15 MV photon beams, respectively. In conclusion, it could be possible to use of the CC01 and SFD detectors for the measurement of percent depth dose and output factor for $2{\times}2cm^2$ field size, and to use of three detectors for $3{\times}3cm^2$ to $5{\times}5cm^2$ field sizes. CC01 and SFD detectors, consider ably smaller than the radiation field, should be used in order to accurately measure the profile penumbra for small field sizes.

Calibration of CR-39 for Hadron Radiotherapy using 400 MeV/u C ions (400 MeV/u 탄소 이온에 대한 방사선치료 선량 측정용 고체비적검출기의 교정)

  • In this study, equivalent dose and LET (Linear Energy Transfer) calibration of CR-39 SSNTD (Solid State Nuclear Track Detector) were performed using 400 MeV/u C heavy ions in HIMAC (Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba) for high LET radiation therapy. The irradiated CR-39 SSNDTs were etched according the etching condition of JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). And the etched SSNTDs were analyzed by using Image J. Determined frequency mean dose (${\bar{y_D}}$)and dose-mean lineal energy (${\bar{y_F}}$)of 400 MeV/u C are about 8.5keV/mm and 10.1 keV/mm, respectively by using the CR-39 SSNTD. This value is very similar to the results calculated by GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulation and measured with TEPC (Tissue Equivalent Proportional Counter) active radiation detector. We could determine the equivalent dose and LET calibration factors of CR-39. And we confirmed that the CR-39 SSNTD was useful for high LET radiation dosimetry in hadron radiotherapy.
