The Structure and the Convergence Characteristics Analysis on the Generalized Subband Decomposition FIR Adaptive Filter in Wavelet Transform Domain (웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 일반화된 서브밴드 분해 FIR 적응 필터의 구조와 수렴특성 해석)

  • In general, transform domain adaptive filters show faster convergence speed than the time domain adaptive filters, but the amount of calculation increases dramatically as the filter order increases. This problem can be solved by making use of the subband structure in transform domain adaptive filters. In this paper, to increase the convergence speed on the generalized subband decomposition FIR adaptive filters, a structure of the adaptive filter with subfilter of dyadic sparsity factor in wavelet transform domain is designed. And, in this adaptive filter, the equivalent input in transform domain is derived and, by using the input, the convergence properties for the LMS algorithm is analyzed and evaluated. By using this sub band adaptive filter, the inverse system modeling and the periodic noise canceller were designed, and, by computer simulation, the convergence speeds of the systems on LMS algorithm were compared with that of the subband adaptive filter using DFT(discrete Fourier transform).

Comparative Study of the Symbol Rate Detection of Unknown Digital Communication Signals (미상 디지털 통신 신호의 심볼율 검출 방식 비교)

  • This paper presents and compares several techniques that detect the symbol rate of unknown received signal. Symbol rate is detected from the power spectral density of the circuits such as the delay and multiplier circuit, the square law circuit, and analytic signal, etc. As a result of discrete Fourier transform of the output signals of these circuits, a lot of spectral lines and some peaks appear in frequency domain and the position of first peak is corresponding to the symbol rate. If a spectral line on the frequency that is not located in symbol rate is larger than the first peak, the symbol rate is erroneously detected. Thus, the ratio between the value of first peak and the highest side spectral line is used for the measure of the performance of symbol rate detector. For the MPSK modulation, the analytic signal method shows better performance than the delay and multiplier and square law circuits when the received signal power is lager than -20dB. It is also noted that the delay and multiplier circuit is not able to detect the symbol rate for the QAM modulation.

  • Developement of computer and digitalizing of medical implement are being caused digitalizing of medical image. Medical Images are being managed more by PACS. In this situation comes out many problem about ownership, the right of properity of the medical images and notice wheather the data are modified. Digital watermarking can solve this problem. The proposed schemes have a two weak point that Non-blind method need a original image and Blind method use gaussian watermarking. In this paper, we propose a blind watermarking using binary image in order to easily recognize result of watermark This proposed scheme using wavelet transform and Circular Input method that input in medium-band of frequency domain.

  • Various researches have been studied on WSN(wireless sensor network) for barbed wire entanglements surveillance applications such as industry facilities, security area, prison, military area, airport, etc. Currently, barbed wire entanglements surveillance is formed wire sensor network environment. Traditional wire sensor network guarantee high data transmission rate. Therefore, wire sensor network use fast fourier transform of data of high transmission rate for extraction of feature parameter. However, wireless sensor network in comparison with wire sensor network has very low data transmission rate. Therefore, wireless sensor network doesn't use fast fourier transform of wire sensor network for extraction of feature parameter. In this paper, proposed method use 1 level approximation coefficient of DTW(dynamic time-warped) algorithms based on DWT(discrete wavelet transform) for extraction of detection feature parameter and classification feature parameter for barbed wire entanglements surveillance. l level approximation coefficient have time information and frequency information of signal. Therefore, Dynamic time-warped algorithms based on discrete wavelet transform improve detection and classification of target rather than using energy of signal.

  • This paper describes system modeling and controller design method in the measured signal by discrete Fourier transform. Transfer function of the second order system is estimated by the dominant parameter which is computed in the magnitude and the phase of Fourier spectrum of the measured signal. In addition, the controller was designed by the estimated transfer function, and the results were compared. The proposed estimation method of transfer function contains only a very simple mathematical process. Therefore, it is effective to design the controller in the measured signal when the output of the system contains the characteristics of complex exponential functions case. The proposed method was applied on Op-Amp system to verify the efficiency and the reliability. The results show that the proposed algorithms are highly applicable to the system modeling and controller design in the measured data.

Time-Domain Electric Field Integral Equation Solving for a Stable Solution of Electromagnetic Transient Scattering (안정된 전자파 과도 산란해를 얻기 위한 시간영역 전장 적분방정식 해석)

  • In this paper, we present a new formulation using time-domain electric field integral equation (TD-EFIE) to obtain transient scattering response from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional conducting bodies. The time derivative of the magnetic vector potential is approximated with a central finite difference and the scalar potential is time averaged by dividing it into two terms. This approach with an implicit method using central difference results in accurate and more stable transient scattering responses from conducting objects. Detailed mathematical steps are included and several numerical results are presented and compared with the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) of the frequency-domain solution.

  • In this paper, a method of finite element analysis is presented for efficient calculation of vibration characteristics of not only simply interconnected structure with cyclic symmetry but also multiply interconnected structure with cyclic symmetry by using discrete Fourier trandform by means of a computer with small memory in a short time. Simply interconnected structure means it is composed of substructures which are adjacent themselves in circumferential direction. First, a mathematical model of multiply interconnected structure with cyclic symmetry is defined. The multiply interconnected structure is partitioned into substructures with the same goemetric configuration and constraint eqauations to be satisfied on connecting boundaries are defined. Nodal displacements and forces are transformed into complex forms through discrete Fourier transform and then finite element analysis is performed for just only a representative substructure. In free vibration analysis, natural frequencies of a whole structure can be obtained through a series of calculation for a substructure along the number of nodal diameter. And in forced vibration analysis, forced response of whole structure can be achieved by using inverse discrete Fourier transform of results which come from analysis for a substructure.

  • In this paper, we present a stable solution of the transient electromagnetic scattering from the conducting objects. This method does not utilize the conventional marching-on in time (MOT) solution. Instead we solve the time domain integral equation by expressing the transient behavior of the induced current in terms of weighted Laguerre polynomials. By using this basis functions for the temporal variation, the time derivative in the integral equation can be handled analytically. Since these temporal basis functions converge to zero as time progresses, the transient response of the induced current does not have a late time oscillation. To show the validity of the proposed method, we solve a time domain electric feld integral equation and compare the results of MOT, Mie solution, and the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) of the solution obtained in the frequency domain.

  • We analyze respondents' reaction to Obama's advertisement, titled 'Fix the Economy'. These respondents are divided into three groups of democratic party, republican party and independent group. By manipulating the skin complexion of the Obama photo, participants were either exposed to the dark or light version of the Obama photograph. In order to obtain decorrelated stationary data, we have applied the discrete Fourier transform to each curve and then we have applied Fan (1998)'s adaptive Neyman test to the discrete Fourier transformed data. As a result, a significant difference is found out only in the independent group.

  • Dielectric cover effect of rectangular microstrip patch antenna on uniaxial substrates with airgap are studied. First, we derive Dyadic Green function for selected anisotropic material by constitutive relation and then formulate integral equations of electric fields using Fourier transform in space region. Using Galerkin's moment method, we discretize the electric field integral equations into the matrix form and select sinusoidal functions as basis functions. We verify the validity of numerical results and compare the results with existing ones in showing a good agreement between them. When the dielectric cover thickness is varied, the resonant frequencies and input impedances in the variation of air gap, patch length and thickness and permittivity of superstrate are presented and analyzed.
