This paper measures the impacts of the Korea-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on the emissions of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in Korean export industries. The Korean industrial exports were forecasted by employing Bayesian Kalman Filter Vector Auto-Regression (BVAR) model. The emissions of $CO_2$ were then estimated by applying the $CO_2$ emission coeffcients on the conditionally forecasted values of export by industries. Under the conditional scenario of the 50% reduction in current tariff rate through FTA between Korea and China, the total $CO_2$ emissions in Korea were expected to increase by 1.96% compared to the BAU (Non FT A) trend at the end of 2010. Another conditional scenario with no tariff after 2012 was also adopted. In this case, the total $CO_2$ emlssions were estimated to increase by 2.06% compared to the BAU up until the end of 2014. These facts imply that the FTA between Korea and China would not result in the significant increase of $CO_2$ emissions in Korea.

This study was performed to estimate non-$CO_2$ greenhouse gases (i.e., GHGs) emission from biomass burning at a local scale. Estimation of non-$CO_2$ GHGs emission was conducted using Landsat TM satellite imagery in order to assess the damage degree in burnt area and its effect on non-$CO_2$ GHGs emission. This approach of estimation was based on the protocol of the 2003 IPCC Guidelines. In this study, we used one of the most severe fire cases occurred Samcheock in April, 2004. Landsat TM satellite imageries of pre- and post-fire were used 1) to calculate delta normalized burn ratio (dNBR) for analyzing burnt area and burn severity of the Samcheok large-fire and 2) to quantify non-$CO_2$ GHGs emission from different size of the burnt area and the damage degree. The analysis of dNBR of the Samcheok large-fire indicated that the total burnt area was 16,200ha and the size of the burnt area differed with the burn severity: out of the total burnt area, the burn severities of Low (dNBR < 152), Moderate (dNBR = 153-190), and High (dNBR = 191-255) were 35%, 33%, and 32%, respectively. It was estimated that the burnt areas of coniferous forest, deciduous forest, and mixed forest were about 11,506ha (77%), 453ha (3%), and 2,978ha (20%), respectively. The magnitude of non-$CO_2$ GHGs emissions from the Samcheok large-fire differed significantly, showing 93% of CO (44.100Gg), 6.4% of CH4 (3.053Gg), 0.5% of $NO_x$ (0.238Gg), and 0.1% of $N_2O$ (0.038Gg). Although there were little changes in the total burnt area by the burn severity, there were differences in the emission of non-$CO_2$ GHGs with the degree of the burn severity. The maximum emission of non-$CO_2$ GHGs occurred in moderate burn severity, indicating 47% of the total emission.

There are four differentiated levels to quantify the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from a facility, which are Tier 1 to 4 based on the IPCC guidelines. In this study, the emission estimates from all tier levels were calculated to compare their total $CO_2$ emission results among themselves for seven facilities, including three sectors of electricity generation, municipal solid waste incineration, and cement manufacturing for three months between February and May 2011. Generally the measured $CO_2$ emissions by Tier 4 were higher than the calculated $CO_2$ emissions by Tier 3, which had been also observed for the power plants in the USA. It was found out that to obtain more reliable estimation for Tier 3, accurate analysis of the composition of the fuel used should be carried out. It was suggested that further refinement on the administrative guidelines be made to make it more robust.

In this paper, $CO_2$ emission and storage amount are evaluated for real RC (Reinforced Concrete) underground structure considering $CO_2$ amount including material manufacturing, moving, and construction, repairing timing stage regarding extended service life. Four mix proportions with mineral admixtures are prepared and $CO_2$ diffusion coefficient are obtained based on a micro modeling. Referred to carbonation durability limit state, $CO_2$ emission and storage amount are evaluated, which shows higher initial $CO_2$ emission is caused due to larger unit content of cement and the storage increases with more rapid carbonation velocity. Furthermore various $CO_2$ concentration is adopted for simulation of $CO_2$ evaluation including measured $CO_2$ concentration (600ppm). With higher concentration of $CO_2$ outside, carbonation velocity increases. In order to reduce $CO_2$ emission through entire service life, reducing initial $CO_2$ emission through mineral admixture like fly ash is more effective than increasing $CO_2$ storage through OPC since $CO_2$ is significantly emitted under manufacturing OPC and $CO_2$ storage in cover concrete of RC structure is not effective considering initial concrete amount in construction.
This paper attempts to estimate the energy price elasticity of per capita $CO_2$ emissions, which helps to understand the influence of recent energy price increase on the natural reduction of $CO_2$ emissions. For this purpose, this study researched panel data of twenty-nine OECD countries from 1978 to 2009 and adopted estimation models for testing the environmental Kuznets hypothesis. Estimation results show that the 1% increase of energy price index will cause a statistically significant decrease of per capita $CO_2$ emissions by 0.26 ~ 0.31%, which is substantial enough for policy consideration. Also Kuznet curves in estimation models were identifed, the turning points of income lie between 22.2~48.5 thousand US dollars, depending on model specifications.

This study presents a sustainable design method to optimize the embodied energy and $CO_2$ emission complying with the design code for reinforced concrete column. The sustainable design method effectively achieves the minimization of the environmental load and energy consumption whereas the conventional design method has been mostly focused on the cost saving. Failure of reinforced concrete column exhibits compressive or tensile failure mode against an external force such as flexure and compression; thus, optimization analyses are conducted for both failure modes. For the given sections and reinforcement ratios, the optimized sections are determined by optimizing cost, embodied energy, and $CO_2$ emission and various aspects of the sections are thoroughly investigated. The optimization analysis results show that 25% embodied energy and 55% $CO_2$ emission can be approximately reduced by 10% increase in cost. In particular, the embodied energy and $CO_2$ emission were more effectively reduced in the tensile failure mode rather than in the compressive failure mode. Consequently, it was proved that the sustainable design method effectively implements the concept of sustainable development in the design of reinforced concrete structure by optimizing embodied energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission.

Recently, the effort to reduce $CO_2$ emission concerning certified emission reductions (CERs) is progressing lively with the institute in the center through lifecycle. However, the technique for reduce $CO_2$ emission is the first stage yet and the technique is insufficient to calculate with accuracy it. Therefore, this study tries to develop the method to measure by actual time $CO_2$ emission of construction equipment using Zigbee sensor. To review the method that calculate $CO_2$ emission, have classified the impact factors that affect at $CO_2$ emission by IPCC guideline. It also has review the application of Zigbee sensor that use wireless data communication. The reviewed result get that the measuring objects are the $CO_2$ emssion, RPM and fuel consumption of equipment, there are needs to search the year of equipment, waiting time, kind of vehicle and fuel that affect to $CO_2$ emission.
This paper intends to test the non-linear relationship between $CO_2$ emissions and income by employing cointegration model of the time-varying income elasticity. We select France, UK, Italy, Japan, US, China, India, Mexico and Korea and use non-parametric time series analysis on each country in order to estimate its own effect of income on $CO_2$ emission. The main results indicate that the $CO_2$ emission-income elasticities vary over time and the income elasticities of the Annex I countries tend to be higher in absolute terms than those of developing countries. In addition, we find that emission-income elasticities decrease for Annex I countries over time, whereas those for developing countries increase.

The most basic matter to establish forest carbon circulation village is statistic on greenhouse gas emissions. But currently, although there is statistic on greenhouse gas emissions in the level of city or province, there is not statistic on greenhouse gas emission in village unit. According to the results, The model area is located in Seobyeok-ri, Chunyang-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, the total $CO_2$emissions caused by energy used in the model area was $1,755tCO_2$. Heating accounts for 55% of total emissions followed by 23% for power and 22% for vehicles. The model area emitted $572tCO_2$ due to rice growing and livestock raising, accounting for approximately 24.5% of total $CO_2$ emissions. It is expected that a reduction of as much as $884tCO_2$ emissions will be made from the current $964tCO_2$ to a level of 1/12th that amount, or $80tCO_2$ by replacing heating energy currently used in the model area with wood bioenergy such as wood chips or pellets. In addition, carbon emission reduction is expected for both heating and power by replacing the power consumption in houses, buildings, and street lights with solar power.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to quantitatively present the carbon dioxide(CO2) emission change according to the application of autonomous driving technology at the network level for waste vehicles in the metropolitan area. Method: The target year was set to 2030, and the analysis method estimated the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for each road link through user equilibrium assignment when unapplied scenario. The application scenario performed traffic assignment using route data on the premise that the group was running in accordance with the application of autonomous driving technology to waste vehicles. In addition, the other means estimated the carbon dioxide emissions through user balance allocation by reflecting the results of the waste vehicle allocation. Result: As a result of the analysis, carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions were found to be reduced by about 56.9ton/day from the national network level, and the Seoul metropolitan area was analyzed to be reduced by about 54.7ton/day. Conclusion: This study quantitatively presented environmental impacts among various social effects that autonomous driving technology will bring, and in the future, development of various analytical methodologies and related studies should be continuously conducted.
