Design of a Block-Based 2D Discrete Wavelet Transform Filter with 100% Hardware Efficiency (100% 하드웨어 효율을 갖는 블록기반의 이차원 이산 웨이블렛 변환 필터 설계)

  • This paper proposes a fully-utilized block-based 2D DWT architecture, which consists of four 1D DWT filters with two-channel QMF PR Lattice structure. For 100% hardware utilization, we propose a new method which processes four input values at the same time. On the contrary to the image-based 2D DWT which requires large memories, we propose a block-based 2D DWT so that we only need 2MN-3N of storages, where M and N stand for filter lengths and width of the image respectively. Furthermore, the proposed architecture processes in horizontal and vertical directions simultaneously so that it computes the DWT for an $N{\times}N$ image within a period of $N^2(1-2^{-2J})/3$. Compared to existing approaches, the proposed architecture shows 100% of hardware utilization and high throughput rate. However, the proposed architecture may suffer from the long critical path delay due to the cascaded lattices in 1D DWT filters. This problem can be mitigated by applying the pipeline technique with maximum four level. The proposed architecture has been designed with VerilogHDL and synthesized using DongbuAnam $0.18{\mu}m$ standard cell.

Analysis of Flood Level Changes by Creating Nature-based Flood Buffering Section (자연성기반 홍수완충공간 조성에 따른 홍수위 변화 분석)

  • In recent times, the sharp increase in extreme flood damages due to climate change has posed a challenge to effectively address flood-related issues solely relying on conventional flood management infrastructure. In response to this problem, this study aims to consider the effectiveness of nature-based flood management approaches, specifically levee retreat and relocation. To achieve this, we utilized a 1D numerical model, HEC-RAS, to analyze the flood reduction effects concerning floodwater levels, flow velocities, and time-dependent responses to a 100-year frequency flood event. The analysis results revealed that the effect of creating a flood buffer zone of the nature-based solution extends from upstream to downstream, reducing flood water levels by up to 30 cm. The selection of the flow roughness coefficient in consideration of the nature-based flood buffer space creation characteristics should be based on precise criteria and scientific evidence because it is sensitive to the flood control effect analysis results. Notably, floodwater levels increased in some expanded floodplain sections, and the reduction in flow velocities varied depending on the ratio of the expanded cross-sectional area. In conclusion, levee retreat and floodplain expansion are viable nature-based alternatives for effective flood management. However, a comprehensive design approach is essential considering flood control effects, flow velocity reduction, and the timing of peak water levels. This study offers insights into addressing the challenges of climate-induced extreme flooding and advancing flood management strategies.

  • The objective of this paper is to show an optimal design model for branched water supply system which also can find the optimal location of pumping stations using linear programming. GIS is utilized in this model to better handle the data and the results front the optimization. The developed model considers hydraulic influences of some appurtenances such as supply tunnels and a filtration plant The model also considers tunnel construction cost which should be treated differently from pipe construction cost Different from other models presently available, the model guarantees a nonnegative pressure at every junction node in the system. The objective function includes annual operation cost (electricity rate) ill addition to initial construction cost, thus producing a more reasonable decision. The model selects the optimal diameter not in the form of continuous number but in the form of commercial discrete diameter (pipe size) using the pipe lengths as decision variables instead of pipe diameters. The model not only determines the optimal pumping head for each pumping station but also finds the optimal location and number of pumping stations. GIS is used to handle hydraulic and budgetary data automatically and to visualize the results for the of optimal design of the system. The model has been applied to an existing water supply system. 'The results show that the optimization model with the aid of GIS is helpful in the decision-nulling process for the design of more economical systems, and can be dot into practice successfully.

Analysis of SAR on Human Head Caused by Antenna of PCS Handheld Telephone (PCS 전화기의 안테나에 의해 인체 두부에 유기되는 SAR 분석)

  • In this paper, the detection of 1 g and 10 g averaged SAR on human head caused by PCS handheld phones is analyzed and discussed. Conventional monopole antenna and planar structured PIFA are used in the computational model to apply to the antennas mounted on handheld phone. These antennas are designed to operate in the near of frequency 1.8 GHz, human head model is sampled to have cell size 1.5 mm and sloped to front direction by 30$^{\circ}$. It is found that, when monopole antenna is applied, 1 g averaged SAR is 1.4 W/kg, 10 g averaged SAR is 0.7 W/kg, when PIFA is applied, for each case, SARs are 1.143 W/kg, 0.4866 W/kg. While the radiation pattern of the monopole antenna is symmetrical, that of planar structured antenna is asymmetrical and SAR caused by PIFA is less than SAR by the monopole antenna. The radiation efficiency of PIFA is 62.6%, which is higher than that of monopole, 53%.

Effect of Heat Transfer and Phase Change of Coolant on the Performance of Mixed-gas Ejection System (냉각제의 분사조건 및 상변화가 혼합가스 사출시스템의 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Three-dimensional (3D) numerical simulations have been carried out to study how coolant injection conditions influence the cooling efficiency and projectile ejection performance in a mixture-gas ejection system (or gas-steam launch system). The 3D single-phase computational model was verified using a 1D model constructed with reference to the previous research and then a two-phase flow computation simulating coolant injection on to hot gas was performed using a DPM (Discrete Phase Model). As a result of varying the coolant flow rate and number of injection holes, cooling efficiency was improved when the number of injection holes were increased. In addition, the change of the coalescence frequency and spatial distribution of coolant droplets caused by the injection condition variation resulted in a change of the droplet diameter, affecting the evaporation rate of coolant. The evaporation was found to be a critical factor in the design optimization of the ejection system by suppressing the pressure drop while the temperature decreases inside the breech.

  • 충격파를 포함하는 초음속 유동을 해석하는 수치해법 중에서 많이 사용되어진 것은 엄밀 및 근사 리만 해법과 플럭스 분할 기법들로서 이들은 Euler 방정식에 기반을 두고 선형 또는 비선형파의 상호작용을 풍상 차분법으로 기술하는 방법들이다. 이러한 수치기법들은 과거 광범위하게 사용되어 왔으나 최근 여러 가지 단점이 발견되었다. 이와 같은 문제점을 극복하고자 입자의 통계적인 운동을 기술하는 기체 운동론에 근거하여 BGK 수치기법이 제시되었다. 이는 비충돌 볼츠만 방정식으로부터 입자의 수준에서 플럭스 분할 기법 형태의 풍상차분법을 구현하는 것으로 볼츠만 방정식의 충돌항을 BGK 모델로 대치하고 이것의 적분해로부터 수치 플럭스를 구한다. 이 수치기법은 기존의 리만해법에 비하여 수치적으로나 물리적으로 매우 타당한 성질인 강건성, 정확성, 엔트로피 조건, 양수보존성 등을 가지고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 이와 같은 수치기법을 사용하여 로켓 노즐 내의 아음속, 천이음속, 초음속에서의 유동장 해석을 위한 프로그램을 작성하였다. 시간 적분에 대하여는 정상 상태의 계산을 위하여 내재적 시간 적분 방법을 사용하였으며, 공간 이산화 방법으로는 임의의 제어체적에 대하여 적분형 보존 방정식을 적용하는 유한 체적법을 사용하였다. 초음속 입구 유동과 출구에서 초음속과 저음속 유동의 두가지 경우를 고려하여 얻은 결과를 기존의 연구 결과와 비교하여 본 결과 잘 일치하였다. 입구 유동이 저음속이고 출구 유동이 초음속인 경우에 대하여도 해석결과가 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다. 상대적으로 낮은 온도, 압력 조건과 높은 온도, 압력 조건을 가지는 고체 로켓 모터 노즐 내의 유동을 해석하였다. 이들 해석 결과를 전압, 전온도로 표준화시킨 결과 서로 일치하였으며, 파라서 저온, 저압에서 얻은 결과도 표준화시킬 경우, 고온, 고압에서도 사용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.의 영향에 초점을 맞추었다.다고 판단되며 배기 가스 자체에 대기 공기중에 함유되어 있던 습기가 얼어붙는(Icing화) 문제가 발생하기 때문에 배기가스의 Icing을 방지하기 위하여 압축기 끝단에서 공기를 추출하여 배기부분에 송출할 필요성이 있는 것으로 판단되었다. 출구가스의 기체 유동속도가 매우 빠르므로 (100-l10m.sec) 이를 완화하기 위한 디퓨저의 설계가 요구된다고 판단된다. 또 연소기 후방에 물을 주입하는 경우 열교환기 및 기타 부분품에 발생할 수 있는 부식 및 열교환 효율 저하도 간과할 수 없는 문제로 파악되었다. 이러한 기술적 문제가 적절히 해결되는 경우 비활성 가스 제너레이터는 민수용으로는 대형 빌딩, 산림, 유조선 등의 화재에 매우 적절히 사용되어 질 수 있을 뿐 아니라 군사적으로도 군사작전 중 및 공군 기지의 화재 그리고 지하벙커에 설치되어 있는 고급 첨단 군사 장비 등의 화재 뿐 아니라 대간첩작전 등에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.가 작으며, 본 연소관에 충전된 RDX/AP계 추진제의 경우 추진제의 습기투과에 의한 추진제 물성 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.의 향상으로, 음성개선에 효과적이라고 사료되었으며, 이 방법이 편측 성대마비 환자의 효과적인 음성개선의 치료방법의 하나로 응용될 수 있으리라 생각된다..7%), 혈액투석, 식도부분절제술 및 위루술·위회장문합술을 시행한 경우가 각 1례(2.9%)씩이었다. 13) 심각한 합병증은 9례(26.5%)에서 보였는데 그중 식도협착증이 6례(17.6%), 급성신부전증 1례(2.9%), 종격동기흉과 폐염이 병발한 경우와 폐염이 각 1례(2.9%)였다. 14) 식도경 시행회수는 1회가 17례(54.8%), 2회가 9례(29.0%), 3회 이상이 5례(16.1%)였다.EX>$IC_{50}$/ 값이 210 $\mu\textrm{g}$<

  • The real-time bio-signal monitoring system based on the ZigBee and SIP/RTP has proposed and implemented for telemedicine but that has some problems at the stabilities to transmit bio-signal from the sensors to the other sides. In this paper, we designed and implemented a real-time bio-signal monitoring system that is focused on the reliability and efficiency for transmitting bio-signal at real-time. We designed the system to have enhanced architecture and performance in the ubiquitous sensor network, SIP/RTP real-time transmission and management of the database. The Bluetooth network is combined with ZigBee network to distribute traffic of the ECG and the other bio-signal. The modified and multiplied RTP session is used to ensure real-time transmission of ECG, other bio-signals and speech information on the internet. The modified ECG compression method based on DWLT and MSVQ is used to reduce data rate for storing ECG to the database. Finally we implemented a system that has improved performance for transmitting bio-signal from the sensors to the monitoring console and database. This implemented system makes possible to make various applications to serve U-health care services.

  • The magnitude and frequency of extreme floods are increasing owing to the effects of climate change. Therefore, multipurpose flood management techniques incorporating nature-based solutions have been introduced to mitigate the limitations of flood management and river design methods relying on existing observation data. Nature-based solutions to prepare for such extreme flooding events include ways to retreat the embankment, expand the floodplain, and reduce flood damage. To apply these technologies, adopting appropriate location selection methods based on various evaluation factors, such as flood damage reduction effects, sustainable ecological environments, river connectivity, and physical channel structure enhancements, should be prioritized. Therefore, in this study, the optimal location for implementing the multipurpose floodplain construction project was determined by selecting the location of the floodplain expansion with objectivity in the river waterfront area upstream of Daecheong Dam to downstream of Yongdam Dam. Through the final location determination, the Dongdaeje and Jeogokje sections were included in the optimal location considering both flood damage reduction and water environment improvement.

A Hardware Implementation of Image Scaler Based on Area Coverage Ratio (면적 점유비를 이용한 영상 스케일러의 설계)

  • Unlike in analog display devices, the physical screen resolution in digital devices are fixed from the manufacturing. It is a weak point on digital devices. The screen resolution displayed in digital display devices is varied. Thus, interpolation or decimation of the resolution on the display is needed to make the input pixels equal to the screen resolution., This process is called image scaling. Many researches have been developed to reduce the hardware cost and distortion of the image of image scaling algorithm. In this paper, we proposed a Winscale algorithm. which modifies the scale up/down in continuous domain to the scale up/down in discrete domain. Thus, the algorithm is suitable to digital display devices. Hardware implementation of the image scaler is performed using Verilog XL and chip is fabricated in a 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ Samsung SOG technology. The hardware costs as well as the scalabilities are compared with the conventional image scaling algorithms that are used in other software. This Winscale algorithm is proved more scalable than other image-scaling algorithm, which has similar H/W cost. This image-scaling algorithm can be used in various digital display devices that need image scaling process.
