Relating Social Concern-oriented Geography Education to Critical Pedagogy (사회적 관심 지향의 지리교육과 비판적 교육학의 조응)

  • This paper begins with a critique that researches of geography education in Korea have not reflected the ideological debates in education and geography. The purpose of this paper is to figure implications for socially-critical geography education being studied in England as openly-ideological approach. First, ideological viewpoints of geography education was categorized through analysis of ideology in education and geography. Especially, a limit of conservative and liberal approach is indicated, socially-critical viewpoint is intrinsically justified as alternative logic. Socially-critical theorizing can change teacher's role as an agent of curriculum change and their conduct knowledge as well as geography curriculum. Second, (social) concern-oriented geography education to be more concerned to 'the social' can be realized through the third space approach and committed geography education as critical pedagogy. And, critical literacy is needed to teachers and students for practice of socially-critical geography education.

  • 본 연구는 오늘날 범지구적 차원에서 심각한 수준에 있는 생태계 파괴에 대한 사회학적 함의를 정립하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 생태계의 개념과 구조를 살펴보고, 다음으로 인간활동으로 인한 생태계 파괴의 메커니즘을 분석하고, 마지막으로 그 메커니즘에 기초하여 생태계 파괴에 대한 사회학적 함의를 정립하였다. 생태계로서의 자연은 인간 없이 존재할 수 있지만 인간은 자연 없이는 생존할 수 없다. 따라서 생계위기는 곧 인간의 위기다. 그럼에도 불구하고 18세기 산업혁명 이후 풍요성과 편리성 추구를 위한 인간의 활동 결과 지구는 점용환경용량을 2.5배 초과되었다. 이것은 인간이 범한 모순이다. 이 모순을 해결하면서 사회발전을 추진하자는 이념으로 1987년 지속가능발전이 제창되었고, 지속가능발전은 1990년대 중반에 지속가능사회로 대치되었고, 2000년대에 와서는 지속가능사회가 생태적 근대화로 대체되었다. 18세기 산업혁명 이후 풍요성과 편리성 증대를 위한 인간의 활동으로 생태계가 파괴되기 시작한 후, 생태계를 보전하면서 사회발전을 추진하자는 생태적 근대화 이념이 출현까지의 역사적 과정은 정(正)-반(反)-합(合)의 변증법 과정으로 이론화될 수 있다. 산업혁명 이전의 농업사회 때는 인간의 활동이 점용환경용량 범위 안에서 이루어졌기 때문에 환경문제가 없었다. 이 시대는 생태적 지속가능성이 유지되었기 때문에 생태적 합(合)의 상태라고 할 수 있다. 산업혁명 이후 인간의 활동이 생태계의 점용환경용량을 초월시킨 것은 생태계에 반(反)이 작용한 것이다. 따라서 범지구적 차원에서 환경문제의 심각성을 인식하고 지속가능발전을 위한 정책이 도입되기 이전까지 생태계는 정(正)과 반(反)이 대립상태에서 공존하였다. 1990년대 이후 생태적 지속가능성을 위한 각종 지속가능발전정책의 도입은 정(正)과 반(反)의 대립을 통해 다시 생태학적 합(合)의 상태를 지향하는 과정이라고 할 수 있다.

What Makes Korea's New Regional Policy Workable? (신지역정책의 작동요인에 관한 연구)

  • The Korean miracle of economic growth or development has been quite well known across the world up to now, while being subject to theorization of its model. Compared with this, however, it is quite surprising to see how little about the spatial aspect of Korean development has been exposed in the field of development studies. In fact, for Korea, competent regional policy has turned out to be an important success factor for the spatial upgrading of a low-tech growth regime into a hi-tech one. This paper dissects Korea's regional policy experiences in three aspects from which it draws up a three-tier lesson. The first aspect is the conventional (overall) regional spatial upgrading policy of a developmental regime put in place since the 1960s onwards. The second is the new regional policy tailored to the regionalization of technological and industrial diffusion for new knowledge-based economy. The third is the prospective regional policy for the future advancement of the Korean economy.

Theoretical Approach on the Development Stage of Animation Production Pipeline (애니메이션 제작 공정에 관한 이론적 고찰 : Development (기획개발) 단계를 중심으로)

  • This research focuses on the part of animation production pipeline. Among the four stages in the process (development, pre-production, main production, and post-production), this research explores theoretical features of the development stage. As the development stage is not well-known and theorized in Korea, this research provides roles and values of the development stage. The development stages is very important because two works have to be proceeded in this stage. First, the story idea for making animation should be decided. Ideas have to be developed into definite synopsis. And, the bible to pitch for investors are prepared on the basis of the story. Secondly, the basic production plan has to be initiated. This production plan includes the financial budget, the production schedule, and the production team. These three elements are so crucial that the producer (or executive producer) should take into consideration from the early stage of production.

A Historical Inquiry about Rayleigh's Research on the Perception of the Direction of Sound (Rayleigh의 소리의 방향 지각 연구에 대한 과학사적 고찰)

  • The question how man can perceive the direction of a sound is one of the traditional psychoacoustical problems. Rayleigh already began to investigate this subject in 1870s and kept on interesting himself intermittently throughout his research career. Rayleigh was only concerned with this subject among those of perception of sound and focused more interest on it than any other acoustical problems. At first he insisted on the perception of the direction of a sound by the difference of intensity of a sound in two ears. but was phased in accepting that by the difference of phase of a sound there. Thus he arrived at the modern view that the perception of the sound direction is caused by the difference of intensity in high frequencies and the difference of phase in low frequencies. Rayleigh presented his ability as an excellent experimenter by employing very cautious and ingenious experimental settings and acquired persuasive results by linking the consequences of his mathematical theorization with his experiments.

Postmodern Ecology and Environmental Justice as Symbiosis and Difference (포스트모던 생태학과 공생과 차이로서의 환경정의)

  • The ecological crisis today can be seen as a result of modernity which has been developed on the Cartesian dualism of subject/object, and of human being/nature, and thereby has huts objectified and subjugated nature through science and technology New environmental ethics hence should be developed urgently against modernity and to overcome the present ecological crisis. This paper aims to consider some implications for ecology and environmental ethics in the post-structurists'arguments struggling against modernity to formulate new frameworks of discourse and politics, and to examine a possibility to theorize environmental justice on the basis of postmodem ecology. For this purpose, this paper first looks on ecological arguments and implications for environmental ethics in post-structuralism, then tries to gain prominent ecological insights, focusing on ethology and 'rhizomatic naturalism'in the philosophy of Deleuze, and finally interprets both bioregionalism as a theory of 'difference' from postmodern point of view and Deleuze's ecology in terms of symbiosis and difference, in order to conceptualize environmental justice.

A Study on the Efficient Improvement of the Animatics for Animation Production in Education (애니메이션 교육을 위한 애니메틱스 제작의 효율적 방안 연구)

  • Animation is breathing life into drawings through motion. Animation is formed by the afterimage phenomenon, that is, deviation of sequential pictures in every frame makes a person possibly perceive it as a live video. Consequently, animation is mostly produced using traditional frame-by-frame methods. The study of relations on timing has been a major concern of animation theory. Nevertheless, issues of timing on production outcomes and effectiveness are mostly ignored. Special focus, analysis and leadership studies on timing are addressed on animatics. Creating better timing through animatics, that is writing movies, directing, scheduling and amending storyboard in pre-production stage, eventually shorten time to animation production. This research is centered on animatics as a cutting edge educational courses. This course will introduce students to the animation production skill and instructors to in-depth teaching points. One of the concepts that we want to go for is keeping animatics apart from mere storyboard. In conjunction with the animation theory, this research conducted under the focus of production of animatics will lead to more efficient way of education on animatics.

Analysis of Radiative Heat Transfer and Thermal Stress in Flaring System of FPSO (FPSO 소각탑의 복사열전달 및 열응력 해석에 관한 연구)

  • The flaring system of FPSO burns out the byproduct natural gas. The thermal loading due to radiative heat of flaring gas leads to undesirable thermal-stresses on itself. Nowadays it needs to understand the amount of thermal loading of flaring system since the requirement for the safety of the flaring system. However, few studies have been performed on the thermal environment and radiative heat flux on the FPSO flaring system. Present study suggests a procedure to model the thermal environment and a FEA process to analyze the temperature distribution and thermal stresses of FPSO flaring system. In order to get the temperature distribution, the radiative heat conditions and convective heat conditions are included in the heat transfer analysis. By making the use of temperature obtained through heat transfer analysis, the thermal stress analyses are performed. The results of the present study can be used to design the flaring system and determine the heat shield in the flaring system.

  • New institutionalism is one of the research perspective, explaining political, economic, social phenomena through institutions. It is seeking more accurate diagnosis and solution of societal problem. What is good media for community? And how it should be operate? These questions are related to design and improvement of media system. Now we need to better approaching method for higher explanatory power about media institutions. From this context, the purpose of this study is exploring application of new institutionalism to media system. The major findings are as follow: At first, the new institutionalistl approaches can be apply the research fields of media policy/law and media organizations. Two, we suggest main research questions and research methods to each of that. This study has implication as more systematic and integrated approach to the research fields of media institution.

  • Postcolonialism, as a school of thought, has become enormously influential for understanding the recent phenomena of globalization. While rejecting the universalizing categories of the Enlightenment, postcolonialism has called into question the old idea of culture and identity as a transcendent regime of authenticity and purity. It has also celebrated the diasporic experiences that entail porous and hybrid cultural identities as a potential site of struggle and resistance against the dominant cultural and discursive order. It is argued, however, that postcolonial theory's emancipatory claims relating to the diversified global culture tend to be complicit with transnational capitalism that brings about global issues of material as well as cultural injustice. This article, through a thorough review of the ways the postcolonial theoretical framework has been developed and appropriated by main figures in postcolonial scholarship, seeks for a theoretical and critical strategy to grasp the complex conditions of global inequality.
