The purpose of this study was to offer basic data for developing effective program for promotion elderly people's oral condition, and oral health behavior upon the appearance of denture. This study was performed by utilizing health questionnaire survey and oral examination survey for first year(2010) law data of the 5th korea national health and nutrition examination survey. The research subjects were 1419 people who were aged over 65 and completed the oral examination and oral questionnaire survey. In the general characteristics, the need of denture was indicated highly in the male elderly. Factors of having relationship with a need of denture in oral health condition were indicated to be chewing difficulty(p<0.001) and dental caries(p<0.0001). The case of not using oral hygiene device was high in a need of denture(p<0.001). Also, a case of not dental treatment was indicated to be high in a need of denture(p<0.001). Through these related findings, the elderly's oral condition and oral health behavior were indicated to have high relationship with a need of denture. There is a need of securing basic data for promoting the elderly's oral health in the future and of seeking a plane for application in order to improve the elderly's health in the aging society. Therefore there is a need of securing and seeking elderly's health program which is considered the aging society's characteristics to improve the elderly's health promotion.

Statement of problem: As the number of elders is growing with the advancement of medicine, partially or fully edentulous patients have increased. Medically compromised conditions are common in the older population so that it should be taken into account in prosthetic treatment planning as well as their economic conditions. In the older patients, removable prosthesis has been preferred to implant prosthesis. However, cast metal based removable partial dentures also has several limitations. Purpose: In this report, we present several cases of Valplast$^{(R)}$ flexible denture which were fabricated in patients who had medically compromised conditions or whose remaining teeth showed a relatively poor prognosis. Results & Conclusion: This article describes an alternative treatment for a partially edentulous patient with mouth opening limitation, after cancer surgery, compromised general condition and questionable remaining teeth. In these patients, Valplast$^{(R)}$ flexible denture was used because of its unique characteristics and the results were all satisfactory. Patients had 1-2 check-up and there were no postoperative pain or fracture of denture up to now.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between removable denture and depression. This study aims to investigate the relationship between depression and each group by dividing them into a group that were using removable dentures and a group that needed removable dentures but were not using removable dentures. Materials and methods: This study was conducted using raw data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES). By using variables related to the state of the prosthesis and the need for prosthesis among oral examination data, the oral examination data were classified into two groups; group using removable denture and group in need of removable dentures. In addition, the variables of depression were classified into normal (0-4), mild depression (5-9), moderate depression (10-19), and severe depression (20-27) using the values of PHQ-9. For statistical analysis, logistic regression analysis was performed using SAS 9.4. Results: In the group in need of removable dentures, the risk of severe depression was statistically and significantly higher than the group using removable dentures. Conclusion: In patient who have lost multiple teeth, rehabilitation of the missing area with removable dental prosthesis is expected to decrease the occurrence of severe depression.

This study was accomplished to get to know the actual condition of denture management in understanding of denture management education relate to the post denture management of elderly, by meeting directly, among elderly people (more than 65 years old) wearing dentures, using structured guestionnaire from 15th Oct. to 15th Dec. 2016 in Daegu Metropolitan City. As a result, there was a significant difference in understanding of denture management education according to age, education level, cost of denture, general health condition, position of denture, period of wearing upper and bottom denture, frequencies of dental treatment and degree of halitosis(p<0.05). As a result, it is considered that continuing denture management education by studying characteristics of the elderly is needed and standardized denture management manual has to be made.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing on the denture satisfaction in the elderly with removable denture in Jeonju(N=157). The average of denture satisfaction was 3.62. As for denture satisfaction per sub-factors was in order of masticatory satisfaction(3.81), fixation satisfaction(3.66) and general satisfaction(3.46). The convergence factors on the denture satisfaction were the perceived oral health state, leisure activity, monthly pocket money, and visiting dental clinic. As a result, the influencing factors of denture satisfaction were general characteristics of denture wearers rather than denture related characteristics. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the social factors(leisure life, economy level, etc.) of denture wearers in order to increase the denture satisfaction.

It often happens that a removable partial denture needs to be repaired due to tissue changes in the remaining alveolar ridge, fracture of the denture, or fracture of the abutment tooth. There are several advantages to retrofitting a customized surveyed crown under the existing RPD. Retrofitting a crown to the RPD decreases the economic burden to the patient and avoids the need for several appointments to fabricate a new RPD. It is difficult for artificial teeth used to repair dentures due to fractured natural teeth to have a shape similar to that of natural teeth, and to repair aesthetic artificial teeth, it is necessary to manufacture customized artificial teeth similar to the shape of each patient's teeth. Recently, CAD/CAM technology has been used to fabricate customized prosthetics on existing RPD to achieve high retention and fitness accuracy, and by manufacturing customized artificial teeth, more aesthetic and harmonious artificial tooth repair is possible. This is a case in which a denture was repaired using a digital method to fabricate a customized prosthesis on an existing partial denture and customized artificial teeth that mirrored the adjacent dentition, saving time and cost, simplifying the process, and achieving aesthetically and functionally satisfactory results.

The stability and retention of mandibular complete denture have been a continuing problem for dentists and patients. Magnets have been investigated or used in clinical dentistry as retentive aids. The obvious advantages are that these attachments do not need spacial equipments or require frequent adjustment of replacement with use, and they likely transmit less lateral forces to the abutment. Implant-assisted removable partial denture (IAPRD) can be considered as a simple and cost-effective treatment approach for an edentulous patient with anatomical or financial limitations. Recently, it was reported that the application of IARPD with implant supported fixed prostheses covered by the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) were increasing. This case report describes the treatment of maxillary fully edentulous patient with anterior four-implant-supported fixed prosthesis and distal extension IARPD. This treatment approach may be advantageous over maxillary implant overdentures in some circumstances. The patient was satisfied with improved function and esthetics in the anterior area and financial benefit from the NHIS. Further long-term clinical studies are needed to establish clinical validity of the treatment approach described in this case report.

Even though implant overdentures are preferentially recommended to mandibular edentulous patients, many patients may select conventional complete dentures due to cost and general condition. Proper retention and stability of conventional complete dentures in patients with severe alveolar bone resorption is difficult to achieve. To overcome the limitations, mandibular suction dentures with the closed mouth impression technique have been used. However, the previous technique requires the Frame cut back tray, the Centric tray, and the Gnathometer M. This article introduces a technique for fabricating a mandibular suction denture with common dental materials.

Flabby tissue is not rare for denture wearers. Mucostatic impression technique is necessary due to compromised retention and stability of denture resulting from distortion of mobile flabby tissue. In this report, individual tray was fabricated by model-scanning and 3D printing treatment denture. And then, mucostatic impression for flabby tissue was obtained by using individual tray modified with window technique. Definitive denture was fabricated based on information of treatment denture including incisal pontic arrangement, jaw relationship and occlusion.
