The competition among nations has been extended to competition between localities, and the importance of knowledge activities in local areas is being emphasized. To contribute to the nurturing of highly qualified professionals and the development of local industry, the Korean government established the S&T-centric research universities including KAIST in 5 local areas. These S&T-centric research universities are top notch research centers and educational environments in Korea. However, it has been pointed out that their ability to act as local innovation hubs is limited. Accordingly, this study conducted an empirical analysis on the outcomes of the S&T-centric research universities by dividing them into two categories, Mode 1 and Mode 2, and comparing them with those of other general universities. It was found that the outcomes of the S&T-centric universities were higher in Mode 1, but lower in Mode 2, than those of the general universities. Furthermore, the S&T-centric universities are not connected very much to the region's specialized industries. It was difficult to find any evidence that the S&T-centric universities differ from the other universities in terms of their outcomes or activities as they were initially envisaged.

Though adolescents have the skillful ability to use internet and use it extensively, they have experienced sexually less than adults and are hard to have the right viewpoint toward sexuality. Because of these adolescents' characteristics, internet pornography cause them serious troubles with their sexual behavior. Based on the viewpoint, this research explores structural relationship among their sexual orientations, exposure to internet pornography, the sexual drive and behavior with PLS path modeling analysis. In result, androcentric and pornography-friendly sexual orientation have an influence on the exposure to internet pornography, in turn, the exposure to internet pornography affect the sexual drive and behavior directly and sexual behavior indirectly mediated by the drive. The significance of this research is to identify fact that sexual orientations, reconceptionalized from previous researches's dependent variables, predict the exposure to internet pro-pornographic and is to identify a popular myth indirectly that the exposure to internet pornography stimulates sexual drive to cause behavior, in turn leads to sex crimes finally.

This study was motivated by the fact that the educational curriculum needs revising as the contemporary society undergoes dramatic changes; this change demonstrates that Korea society now turns into a multicultural community. In this vein, this study aims to examine how the national Home economics curriculum (revised in 2007) incorporated the essence of multicultural education program and that of international understanding program into the coursebook, and to suggest which part of the coursebook needs revising to enhance its validity. To attain this goal, this research was conducted to analyze how two programs are implemented in secondary school, and to propose how those programs should be developed to address the immediate needs of the current society. To illustrate, this study examines a variety of theories and methodology on how multicultural education program should be implemented along with the current situation of Korea society. In addition, quantitative research was conducted to acquire empirical data from 6 coursebooks the frequencies of statements and visual aids that are considered to be directly reflect the essence of two programs. The results demonstrate that two programs are relegated into a lesser position compared to other programs; furthermore, they lack materials to deepen students' understanding about multicultural society and international relations. Therefore, the considerable revision needs to be conducted to embrace the essence of multicultural society and international understanding programs, and sensitize students to the immediate needs of the current society.

This study planned study model through documentary research and drew hypothesis to analyze how teamwork of servant leadership has an influence on job satisfaction aiming at full time employee under department head and contract worker of five star hotel in Busan. As a survey term, from April 5th, 2010 to April 23th, 2010, it distributed total 300 questionnaires, 60 questionnaires for each hotel, and then 242 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis. It analyzed data using SPSS WIN Version 12.0 statistics package program, and verified through frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis. As a result of verification for influence of servant leadership on interchange which is one of teamwork, it showed that community formation factor has a positive influence on interchange, and as a result of verification for influence on communication which is one of teamwork, I could find out that higher the level of bond of sympathy formation and community formation factor are, higher the communication becomes. As a result of verification for influence on interdependence which is one of teamwork, it showed that community formation, stewardship, vision, commitment to growth factor have a positive influence on interdependence. As a result of verification for influence of teamwork factor on job satisfaction, it showed that all factors have a positive influence. As a result of this study. I could find out that member' positive perception on leader in hotel organization can be a basis deriving job satisfaction though teamwork.

The purpose of this essay explores a critical review of the Korean critical communication studies focused on the problematic of cultural studies and political economy in 2000s. The findings are as follows; The 'consumer turn' or 'audience turn' in new revisionism modelling John Fiske's cultural studies has been interpreted not to complement but to substitute the necessary criticism of the post-authoritarian media establishment of Korea at that time, arising identity crisis of Korean cultural studies as one of the critical camp. On other side, however, some political economy studies close to the unilinear theses of orthodox marxism has been appraised to neglect the complex process and structure of media and cultural production as well. While the press war between the market-dominant dailies and some progressive dailies has given rise to a whole debate as expected in consolidating period of Korean emerging democracy, the conjucturalism as modelled by Hall's 'authoritarian populism' failed to initiate a new theo tical practice in Korea. Finally, this review essay propose the some new research issues that would converge cultural studies and political economy, modernism and postmodernism; citizenship vs 'cultural citizenship'(valuing the private identity and gender) or Habermasian public sphere vs 'cultural public sphere', the culture of production, (modern)citizen/(postmodern)consumer(recently debated in English media policy), 'differentiation' in capitalist production and 'difference' in consumer sovereignty, 21c future vision of public service broadcasting as one of the 20c institutions.

Moonlighting or second-jobs will increase shirking of the primary job. This paper analyzes the motives for moonlighting so that the means of reducing these motives could be explored. The traditional theory claims that a worker who cannot fully realize his work potential will look to moonlighting. In a two-period model, however, the following motives are more important. The precautionary savings motive : A worker has an incentive to save for fear of losing his job and his income in the second period. The worker could save more by working more during the first period, and this additional motive for working is the precautionary savings motive. The insurance motive : When a worker is unemployed, he cannot expand his moonlighting hours according to his needs since the moonlighting hour is upward rigid. Therefore, a worker has an incentive to secure additional moonlighting hours in the first period so that quick adjustment can be made during the unemployment in the second period. Two policy measures to remove those motives for moonlighting are recommended, for these measures will enhance the productivity in the primary job. First, a firm should guarantee that there will be no layoffs in a downturn in the economy and that the employment level is adjusted to the economic states by work sharing among workers. Second, as unemployment insurance benefits compensate a portion of the income in case of unemployment, it substitutes the motives for moonlighting. A generalization of this argument can be found in Ehrlich and Becker(1972) where self-insurance(moonlighting) and market insurance(in this case, unemployment insurance) serves as substitutes. The two policy measures in the above have a spill-over effect : A decrease of labor supply in the moonlighting market will ease job search, and therefore will help those who have their primary job in the moonlighting sector.

The questionnaires about the safety of the urban gas have been carried out for the end users. about 8 of 10 persons said that the urban gas Is safe to use, whereas $35\%$ of them said there exists a hazard of an accident in thier residences. There cannot be found the clear evidences that the understandings on the safety of the urban gas have no relations to their ages, sex, and monthly incomes, while the safety is less confidential to the highly educated, the accident-experienced, or the mans who are poor at the safety inspections. Most of the questioned man know the inspection knacks for the gas utilities, but only $60\%$ of them carry out it. They said that they do not feel the necessity of the inspection because they are inspected routinely by the suppliers or the inspection companies. This says that the end user does not concern the safety inspections, and in order to improve the dependency of the user for the self-inspections, the inspection staff should educate the user for the necessity and the knack of inspections to encourage the self-inspection of the gas utilities.

This paper deals with the relationship between cultural factor and economic factor in the spread of Hallyu(Korean Wave). To do so, the paper defines the traditional Hallyu items, drama and K-Pop, as 'cultural Hallyu' and other Popular industrial products such as electronics and mobile products as 'business Hallyu'. Based on this definition, the paper analyzes the relationship between the two Hallyu's in Thailand. The analysis has been conducted as follows. First, the paper describes the history of 'cultural Hallyu' and 'business Hallyu' in Thailand by reviewing their introduction and current situations in Thailand market. Secondly, using various aggregate data, the paper analyzes the causality of the two Hallyu's, focusing on the period of their Popularity and growth in Thailand. In addition to the macro-level analysis, the paper researched individual opinions of Thai people about the influence of Hallyu on the success of Korean companies, as well as about the influence of the Korean business companies on the success of Hallyu. This analysis has been conducted using the results of focus group discussion(FGD) of 17 Bangkok people. In both macro and individual level analyses, we found that the 'cultrual Hallyu' has influenced on the success of the 'business Hallyu' rather than vice versa. For further research, it is necessary to analyze the reciprocal influences and synergy effects between the 'cultural Hallyu' and 'business Hallyu'.

Korean Students' Physical Fitness Test System, was improved from exercise-related fitness to health-related fitness, it manage the results on the web. This research is one of the practical trial using IT environment for health and fitness improvement, by developing web-based contents. In peer debriefing, 105 contents(health : 6 part 34 contents, exercise : 13 part 71 contents) was designed and realized through analyzing 7th curriculum and 11 domesticinternational contents. The output, have good points, could be used in the class on the web, could be carried out by students in anytime, anywhere. Especially, obese or low fitness children can carry out joyfully. And the contents could be improved on the web. This study is the 1st trial to develop web-based contents, enhancing students' to recognize the importance of health and exercise. If this trial was connected to middle, high school and military, could be contributed in Korean Men's health management. In the future, application study must be carried-out.

With the fast development of the Internet and the increasing dependence on information infrastructures, companies are faced with various information security threats such as information leakages, modifications, and information breaches. South Korea is one of the leading countries in the Internet usage, but is ranked relatively low when it comes to information security. In fact, many Korean firms have suffered financial losses and damaged corporate images from the information security breaches. However, because of the difficulties in quantifying the costs of the information security breaches, Korean companies tend to delay their investment decisions on information security. The purpose of this study is to measure the cost of information security breach and the economic value of security investment using the event study methodology. Our results show that the announcement of an information security breach negatively influenced the market value of the corresponding company. The effect was statistically significant at the significance level of p=0.05. The breached companies lose, on average, 0.86% of their market values on the day of the announcement - an average loss in market capitalization of $55 million. On the other hand, the investment on information security had no effect on the stock price or the market value of the firm.
