  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the body cathexis, ideal body shape, clothing satisfaction and their interrelationships. The subjects were 445 middle- and high- school girls. The findings were as follows : the subjects were more satisfied with their face appearance than body parts. They were very unsatisfied with thigh. leg and weight. Generally they were more satisfied with upper body than lower body, and more satisfied with length measurements than girth measurements. They accepted 169.19cm as ideal height and 49.18kg as ideal weight. The middle-school girls wanted to be taller than high-school girls by 3cm. But the ideal weight of both were almost same. The Rohrer indices indicated that the subjects were normal to slender type. But the Rohrer indices calculated using ideal height and ideal weight showed that the subjects thought extremely slender type as ideal body shape. The attitude of body was evaluated by two factors. the awareness of body shape and the physical attractiveness. The awareness of body shape was deeply influenced by girth measurements and lower body parts. And physical attractiveness was severely affected by face appearance. Weight was more important than height in regard to body cathexis. The ideal body shape was independent of individual situation but was formed by social value. The satisfaction of clothing in terms of design related aspects was influenced by body cathexis. Also the more satisfied with their body. the more they felt comfortable for their clothing. The body cathexis was interrelated with the satisfaction of clothing in some aspects.

For Clothing Behavior: a unisex clothing attitude questionnaire was developed for this study, and general clothing behavior was assessed with Kim; Won: Kim: Lee; and Jung's questionnaires dealing with modesty and the yin-yang continuum of design preference. The questionnaries were administered to a sample of 366 junior high school girls in Seoul. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation. The results were that, liberal attitudes toward sex role were positively related to unisex clothing attitude: liberal attitudes toward sex role were negatively related to modesty in clothing. Liberal attitudes toward sex role were related to the yin-yang continuum of design preference in clothing; that is, the persons having more liberal attitudes toward sex role preferred yang (masculine) design.

  • The aim of this paper was to identify high school girls'satisfaction toward Korean traditional style school uniform and their clothing behaviour. The questionnaires were administered to 133 high school girl students in Pusan. To find out attitudes of Korean traditional style school uniform and their clothing behaviour, PC model, mineigen and Varimax Rotation of factor analysis were adopted. The results have shown that each four factors are identified in Korean traditional style school uniform's satisfaction and their clothing behaviour. Multiple Regression analysis has been used to investigate the relationship between these factors of attitudes and satisfaction toward Korean traditional style oriented school uniform. As a result, the relationship between factors of their school uniform behaviour and satisfaction of their school uniform has revealed. They tend to wear their school uniform in various occasions if their satisfaction becomes greater. Besides, the more students have recognized the uniform as symbol of status the more they become satisfied with their school uniform. The relationship between factors of clothing attitudes and satisfaction of school uniform has shown that its uniform doesn't promote students conformity since they might be aware of different style and design of their school uniform compared to other school uniforms.

  • In the U.S., outdoor enthusiasts such as golfers have been focused on skin cancer prevention practices since their outdoor activities lead to extensive sun exposure during peak sun hours. The purposes of this study were to investigate golfers current sun protection behaviors and five attributes and their impacts on the intention to adopt UV specialized clothing based on Rogers' theory. UV specialized clothing as a preventive innovation is related to sun protection behaviors. However, there has been little effort to explain the intention to adopt a preventive innovation regarding health-related practices. With a convenience sampling method, a total of 158 useful questionnaires were collected. Ninety one percent were male golfers, and their age ranged from 16 to 80 years old(mean age=30 years). About $25\%$ reported to practice sun protection behaviors. About $70\%$ disagreed on the relative advantage, compatibility, observability, and triability of UV specialized shirts and reported the low intention to purchase it. Current sun protection behaviors and five attribute variables were entered in the multiple regression equation to explain the dependent variable of intention to adopt the innovation. Triability was the best predictor of the intention to adopt UV specialized shirts, followed by current sun protection behaviors, compatibility, and relative advantage. With four predictors, $45\%$ of the variance of intention to adopt was explained. The present study provides how the golfers current sun protection behaviors play important roles in explaining the intention to adopt the preventive innovation. Physical and functional features of UV specialized clothing were also significantly associated with their intentions to adopt it.

  • This research was designed to investigate the effect of a hand and a sensibility image on the preference to skirt textiles. 131 male and female college students were surveyed and 10 kinds of preferred fabrics were used each as a specimen for all 4 seasons. Factor analysis, t-test, Pearson's correlation, and regression were used for a statistical analysis by SPSS WIN 10.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. In spring/fall season, 6 factors including 'elasticity/flexibility' were extracted as a hand factor, and 2 factors including 'modern elegance' were extracted as a sensibility factor in skirt textiles. 2. In summer season, 5 factors such as 'unevenness/stiffness' were extracted as a hand factor and 2 factors such as 'modern elegance romantic' as a sensibility image. 3. In winter season, 7 factors including 'elasticity' were extracted as a hand factor and 2 factors including 'modern elegance romantic' as a sensibility image. 4. Significant correlations existed between a hand and a sensibility image in spring/fall, summer, and winter. 5. • This study is designed to identify the dimensions of clothing shopping motives and clothing involvements which influence consumers' store choice behaviors and to find out what variables have a direct influence on the attitudes of customers toward stores. The empirical research was made through the survey on 300 female and male shoppers who purchased clothing. The major results of this study are as follows : 1. The dimension of clothing shopping motives is composed of leisure-related shopping motive, products-related shopping motive, and economy-related shopping motive. And the dimension of clothing involvement consists of pleasure involvement factor, fashion involvement factor, and symbol involvement factor. 2. The dimension of the store choice criteria is composed of such five factors as promotion, products, prices/salespersons, service, and location. 3. There is a positive correlation of the products-related shopping factor and the leisure-related shopping motive only. And the store choice criteria have a positive correlation with all the factors of clothing involvement. 4. The high-shopping-motive group turns out to pay more importance to such factors as products and location than the low-shopping-motive group. 5. The variables which have influences on the attitudes of customers toward stores tum out to be such factors as fashion involvement, promotion in the store choice criteria, and gender.
