Clothing Involvement and Clothing Information Source on Personality Types (MBTI 성격유형에 따른 의복관여와 의복정보원)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate clothing involvement and clothing information source on personality types. Personality types were applied using Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI). Clothing involvement was measured using 17 questions of 5-point scales. Clothing information source was measured using 16 items of 5-point scales. The data were collected from 275 female using questionnaire. The data analysed with frequence, factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan test. The clothing involvement included three factors: Symbolic Expression, Pleasure and Interest, and Fashionability. The clothing information source included four factors: Printed Media, Radio Media, Professional Media and Store Search. Extroversion-introvertion and thinking-feeling index had significant difference in the dimensions of clothing involvement. Extroversion types were significantly evaluated fashionability more than introvertion types(t=2.008, p<.05). Feeling types were significantly evaluated fashionability more than thinking types (t=2.428, p<.05). Extroversion-introvertion index had significant difference in clothing information source. Extroversion types were significantly used printed media more than Introvertion types.

Clothing Purchase Behavior of Adolescents by the Consumer Awareness (청소년의 소비자 의식과 의복구매행동)

  • To investigate the consumer awareness and clothing purchase behavior of adolescents, questionnaire was administered to 639 middle and high school students in Daegu. The results were as follows. 1. The consumer awareness of adolescents was analyzed to 4 factors. consciousness of right. consumer information, brand-orientedness and responsibility. Respondents were clustered into three groups : utility-oriented group, brand-oriented group, and consumerism-oriented group. 2. Respondents bought their clothes at specialty stores primarily. They used ´products´, ´family's or friends advices´, and ´purchase experiences´ as information sources. The important criteria for selecting clothes were ´design´, ´price´, and ´suitability´ for oneself. Dissatisfactions after purchasing clothes were with ´price´, ´service´, ´sewing´, and ´size´. The complaining behaviors which respondents did mainly were ´telling friends about dissatisfaction with their purchased clothes´, ´asking for change dissatisfying products or asking for refund´ and ´asking for mending´. 3. Information sources were categorized into 3 factors: ´neutral information source´, ´personal information source´ and ´commercial information source´. Criteria for selecting clothes were factor-analyzed into ´harmony´, ´fashion´ and ´management of clothes´. ´The factors of dissatisfactions with purchased clothes were ´appearance´, ´quality´ and ´service´. 4. The differences by the consumer awareness in clothing purchase behaviors among consumer groups : In information sources. criteria for selecting clothes, complaining behaviors. purchasing places. three consumer groups were different significantly.

The Differences of Apparel Evaluation on Consumers Personality Types (소비자의 성격유형별 의복평가의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine if personality types affect apparel evaluation. Personality types was applied using Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI). The data were collected from 101 female using questionnaire to evaluate on apparel, and were analysed with factor analysis, Mann-Whitney test. Results revealed several significant differences with apparel evaluation to personality type. Extroversion and introversion had significant difference in fashion concern. Extroversion types were significantly evaluated fashion concern more than introversion types. Sensing and intuition had significant difference in conformity. Sensing types were significantly evaluated conformity more than intuition types. Thinking and feeling had significant difference in symbolism. Thinking types were significantly evaluated symbolism more than feeling types. Judging and perceiving had significant difference in conformity. Judging types were significantly evaluated conformity more than perceiving types.

Consumers' Need for Uniqueness and Clothing Interest's Effects on Brand Consciousness, Brand Loyalty and Purchase Intention - To Select the Best Model of Constructs - (브랜드 인식, 브랜드 충성 및 구매의도에 대한 소비자의 독특성 욕구와 의복관심의 영향 - 최적모형 구축을 중심으로 -)

  • Consumers' need for uniqueness reflects individual differences in counterconformity and related to the attitude toward brands as well as purchase behavior. To understand the relationship between consumer's personal characteristics and purchase behavior, the study investigated the effect of consumers' need for uniqueness and clothing interest on the brand consciousness, loyalty and purchase intention. Survey was utilized to collect the data and subjects were 271 college students. Measures consisted of five main constructs: Consumer's need for uniqueness, clothing interest, brand consciousness, brand loyalty, and purchase intention. The measurement and structural models were evaluated using PRELIS 2 and LISREL 8.53. Consumer's need for uniqueness was confirmed to have three constructs: creative, unpopular, and avoidance. The researcher tested Model 1 and developed five other models-Models 2 through 6-based on the results from Model 1 evaluation. The additional Models 2 through 6 were nested in Model 1. To select a best model, the researcher compared the value of chi-square, RMSEA, GFI, AIC, and ECVI. Since Model 6 also illustrated conceptually or theoretically reasonable relationships among constructs as well, it was finally selected as a best model. In the Model 6, the creative dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness had a negative relationship with brand loyalty, while the avoidance dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness had positive relationship. The unpopular dimension of consumer's need for uniqueness and clothing interest had significant positive effects on the brand consciousness. The brand consciousness was significantly related to brand loyalty and brand loyalty to purchase intention.

Information Search Behavior in Functional Sportswear Purchasing -Focused on Clothing and Sports Concern- (기능성 소재 스포츠웨어 구입시의 정보이용행태 -의복 및 스포츠 관심의 영향-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the information search behavior in functional sportswear purchasing by clothing and sports concern variables. Functional sportswear means sportswear made of functional clothing materials. The information search behavior in this study included information sources, information seeking attributes, information search differences between when consumers buy functional sportswear and when they purchase nonfunctional sportswear, and information characteristics. For this purpose, 500 questionnaires had been distributed to university students and 409 of which were used in the study. For data analysis, frequency, reliability analysis, factor analysis, and t-test were used. The results were as follows: first, the friends showed to be the most effective information source of functional clothing materials sportswear and internet revealed to be the information source that made the most frequent use of. The experts appeared to be the most reliable information source. Second, the more the students were concerned about clothing and sports, the more important they considered information seeking attributes. Third, in the aspects of information search differences between when consumers bought functional sportswear and when they purchased nonfunctional sportswear, only sports concern variables showed to be significant. The last, regardless of clothing and sports concern variables, it was found that customers considered all the information characteristics important.

Effect of Clothing Interest on Party Preference and the Construction of Party Unities according to Party Wear Types (의복 관심이 파티 선호에 미치는 영향과 파티복 유형별 파티 통일체 구성)

  • This study investigated the effect of clothing interest on party preference and suggested four party unities according to party wear types. A hypothesized model based on consumer innovativeness, clothing interest, party benefit, party interest and party preference was tested to determine the effect of clothing interest on party preference. Party unities were constructed according to party wear types along with party place, party food, and party music. Data was collected through two online surveys. The population of the survey was female consumers in their twenties. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability, correlations, and regressions were applied to the data of 305 samples. As a result, positive tendency toward consumer innovativeness, clothing interest, party benefit, party interest and party preference was observed in young female consumers with significant relations among five variables. Party preference was well-explained from the hypothesized research model, but the direct path from clothing interest to party interest was identified as insignificant. The most preferred party elements of place, food, music and wear was garden, barbecue, house music and mini dress, respectively. Four party unities according to party wear types were constructed and suggested based on the correlation analysis results between party wear and other party elements. The concept of party unity is useful to establish marketing strategies such as advertising and experience marketing in the party wear industry.

Golfers' Intention to Adopt UV Specialized Clothing as Innovation: Based on Rogers Theory (골퍼의 자외선 차단의복의 수용 의도: Rogers의 혁신확산이론을 중심으로)

  • In the U.S., outdoor enthusiasts such as golfers have been focused on skin cancer prevention practices since their outdoor activities lead to extensive sun exposure during peak sun hours. The purposes of this study were to investigate golfers current sun protection behaviors and five attributes and their impacts on the intention to adopt UV specialized clothing based on Rogers' theory. UV specialized clothing as a preventive innovation is related to sun protection behaviors. However, there has been little effort to explain the intention to adopt a preventive innovation regarding health-related practices. With a convenience sampling method, a total of 158 useful questionnaires were collected. Ninety one percent were male golfers, and their age ranged from 16 to 80 years old(mean age=30 years). About $25\%$ reported to practice sun protection behaviors. About $70\%$ disagreed on the relative advantage, compatibility, observability, and triability of UV specialized shirts and reported the low intention to purchase it. Current sun protection behaviors and five attribute variables were entered in the multiple regression equation to explain the dependent variable of intention to adopt the innovation. Triability was the best predictor of the intention to adopt UV specialized shirts, followed by current sun protection behaviors, compatibility, and relative advantage. With four predictors, $45\%$ of the variance of intention to adopt was explained. The present study provides how the golfers current sun protection behaviors play important roles in explaining the intention to adopt the preventive innovation. Physical and functional features of UV specialized clothing were also significantly associated with their intentions to adopt it.

  • 최근 국내외에서 첨단 기능성 섬유에 대한 소비자들의 관심이 높아지면서 다양한 분야에서 기능성 소재들이 개발되고 있다. 특히 기능성 스포츠웨어 시장에서는 계절의 경계를 넘어 야외 활동 중에 사용할 수 있는 제품에 대한 요구가 증가되고 있는데, 날씨가 매우 덥고 햇살이 뜨거운 것에서부터, 얼음처럼 차갑고 추운 것까지 가지각색 인 경우가 있을 수 있다. 이러한 변화무쌍한 날씨에 쾌적한 활동을 하기 위해서는 외부 온도변화에 대응하여 몸을 보호하고 자연환경에 맞설 수 있는 의복의 필요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서 개발하고자 하는 지능형 체온조절 섬유는 정적상태에서는 보온성과 적외선을 방출을 통한 자가 발열기능을 부여하고, 동적상태에서는 태양열 증폭기능과 운동량에 따른 흡습발열의 기능을 통하여 자연환경과 의복환경의 변화에 대응할 수 있는 스포츠웨어 제품이다. 따라서 보온성이 우수한 PP, acrylate 원사 등을 이용하여 복합 방적사 설계 및 생산을 최적화였다. 또한 흡습발열 성능이 향상된 섬유구조체를 설계하여 개발 원사 구성에 따라 보온 발열 기능성 부여 방법을 달리하여 최적의 성능을 이끌어내는 제품을 개발하고자 하였다.
