  • This paper presents a multimodal emergency recognition system based on visual information, audio information and gravity sensor information. It consists of video processing module, audio processing module, gravity sensor processing module and multimodal integration module. The video processing module and gravity sensor processing module respectively detects actions such as moving, stopping and fainting and transfer them to the multimodal integration module. The multimodal integration module detects emergency by fusing the transferred information and verifies it by asking a question and recognizing the answer via audio channel. The experiment results show that the recognition rate of video processing module only is 91.5% and that of gravity sensor processing module only is 94%, but when both information are combined the recognition result becomes 100%.

  • Recently, research about ESS(Emergency Support System) has been actively carried out to provide a variety of medical services using smart devices and wearable devices. Smart healthcare provides a personalized health care service using various types of bio-signal measuring sensors and smart devices. For the smart healthcare using a smart device, it is need to research about personal health monitoring using a smart wearable devices, and also need to research on service methods for first aid measures after an emergency. In this paper, we proposed about group management based emergency support system, that is monitoring about personal bio signal using smart devices and wearable devices to protect patient's life. The system notices to the medical volunteers based on the position information when an emergency situation. In addition, we have designed and implemented an emergency support system providing the information of the patient on the display when transmitting a picture of a patient using a smart device to the server.

  • The entry of an aging society require a safety of senior citizens against emergency. However, a home and a residence of senior citizens should not consider a characteristic of safety and the unfortunate accidents could happen in the house or the residence. Especially if the elders live alone then they have a help function using a call button in a bathroom or a closed area. But, a sliding or an overbalance in a bathroom or a closed area of a home may happen suddenly how can require a help in real time. That is a very serious accident to senior citizens. In this paper, we developed the context-aware system using the various sensors for collecting the data which is an activities of daily living of elders and we designed the recognition method using case-based reasoning for detecting the anomaly and the emergency context in the bathroom or the closed area in house. After that, if the anomaly or the emergency are detected then it call to a family or a relative or an administration in real-time.

  • The purpose of this research is investigate the perception of first aid and differentiate between factors. The research subjects were 188 childcare teachers who work for day care centers in Chungchungnam-do, Republic of Korea and 70 pre-service childcare teachers who major in childcare in colleges in the same area. Collected data were converted to frequency and percentage, and cross correlation analysis was conducted for difference verification. The survey results are as follows. First, regarding the perception of first aid, there was a difference between childcare teachers and pre-service childcare teachers in their ability to cope with an emergency situation and responses to questions regarding frequent emergency situation. Second, the percentage of incorrect answers was high in the questions about impaction, poisoning, and biting. There were significant differences between the answers of childcare teachers and pre-service childcare teachers in questions about bleeding(injury), high fever, and CPR. In all of these questions, the percentage of correct answers of childcare teachers was higher. Regarding this result, clinical training for various emergency situations is needed.

  • Recently the study about a smart health care which is combined IT with BT to provide a variety of health care services are being actively investigated. In order to provide the best possible emergency medical services in a short period of time, it is necessary that the rapid emergency measures in the event of an emergency essential. In this paper, we propose an emergency medical service platform to take effective first aid to person who has a NFC tag or NFC-enabled mobile smart phones in an accident. Using NFC, it is possible to help without physical contact to the patient unconscious to emergency incidents such as falling down in everyday life. In this paper, we design and implement an mobile emergency medical system that can deliver first aid information ask for help in case of emergency.

  • In this study, we investigated the recognition of the first aid of guard major college students are trained to deal well and flexibly to the situation of unforeseen circumstances, you are trying to present the teaching methods and effective importance of first aid. Analysis of data collected in this study is as follows: The results obtained using the statistical program SPSS18.0. First, education has not been done properly, there is no difference between the average score of people who did not receive the people who received the fact of first aid veritable we are specialized in, the second education systematic is needed, training of first aid has not been properly implemented, problems of education there were many. Third, because there is no difference in the level of knowledge by training institutions of first aid, the places where there is training of first aid, there is no effect on the knowledge level. Therefore, it can be the need training first aid practical to enhance the ability to proactively address the situation of contingencies.

  • This study discusses the development of a u-Health care system that can detect quickly and cope actively with emergent situations of chronic disease patients who lead everyday life. If a patient's emergent situation is detected by personal health care host(PHCH), which is composed of acceleration and vibration sensors, GPS, and CDMA communication module, a text message on the patient's current location is transmitted to the hospital and the guardian's mobile terminal so that they can cope with the situation immediately. Especially, the system analyzes data from sensors by using neural network and determines emergent situations such as syncope and convulsion promptly. The exact location of patients can also be found in the electronic map by using GPS information. The experiments show that this system is very effective to find emergencies promptly for chronic disease patients who cannot take care of themselves and it is expected to save many lives.

  • The concern regarding inability to perform CPR properly was widespread, and few studies, however, have queried bystanders regarding their responses to an actual emergency. This study assessed how often CPR was performed by CPR-trained bystanders and what factors were associated with the performance and nonperformance of CPR by trained bystanders. From a 2,000 sample survey of the National Emergency Medical Center in Korea (2008), it extracted object persons who actually experienced an emergency situation, and examined closely the relationship of CPR education experience and CPR performance in an emergency. 169 completely interviewed, 23(13.6%) had CPR education experience and performed CPR in an actual emergency, 40(23.6%) had CPR education experience but didn't performed, 12 (7.1%) didn't have CPR education experience but performed, and 94(55.6%) neither had CPR education experience nor performed. Specifically, within bystanders who had CPR education experience, those who CPR was performed were different from those who CPR was not on medical emergency-related characteristics such as CPR knowledge(p=0.001), 1339 emergency phone number(p=0.006) and 1339 emergency services(p=0.001). Consequently, to consider social characteristics or an economic condition, various CPR teaching strategies should be prepared to continuously propel.
