Comparison and Analysis on the Geophysical data Using Bathymetric Surveying Product (해저지형 측량성과를 이용한 지구물리자료 비교분석)

  • The information of ocean topology is the fundamental source which is necessary for understanding the ocean, producing nautical charts and delimiting maritime boundaries. An echo sounder is being used generally to collect undersea bathymetric data, but an indirect method such as geophysical data acquired by satellites is being used recently. In this study, the outputs of ocean surveying for the production of the Basic Maps of the Sea in 1996 and 1997 in the East Sea and the bathymetric data produced by geophysical data are compared and analyzed. The study areas are Ulleung Plateau, Ulleung Basin and the southern area of Ulleung Basin which have different geophysical characteristics. Through this study, we found that the bathymetric data acquired by an indirect method using satellite is similar to the field surveying results in general configuration of ocean floor and average depth. However, the minimum square error is about 100m in 1700m depth, and it has been observed a local error up to 1000m. In addition, it has been found that the detailed undulation of ocean topology is shown on the gravity data which is acquired by the research vessel.

  • The interest of sediment has been increased daily because most of domestic dam reservoir's operation time have been extended and wide basin area is the main characteristics for artificial reservoir which the speed of water flow in artificial reservoir is slower than that of natural reservoir. Therefore a lot of sediment has been significantly accumulated. In this study, the accurate topographic data were obtained using echo-sounding system. GPS survey, low-frequency sub-bottom profiler, and high-frequency echo-sounding system were used to compute the exact amount of sediment. Based on the results, DEM(Digital Elevation Model) and DSM(Digital Surface Model) were generated. The GIS system for the management of sediment was created based on topographic data on the riverbed and this system can be efficiently used for the management of sediment which caused the problems of reservoir capacity and water quality.

  • The circulation of the sea water in relation to the submarine topography is discussed using the oceanographic, current measurement and echo-sounding data obtained by R/V Odaesan in the waters adjacent to Kamchatka and Kurile Islands. The continental shelf which is approximately seventy-five kilometers wide at the east of Kamchata Peninsula becomes narrower at the Kurile Islands, and is cut, at the sea floor approximately twenty miles east of Onekotan Island, by a narrow, shallow sea channel extending from the depression in the Onekotan Strait, forming an elevation similar to a guyot. The measured current speed of approximately one knot in the Oyashio Current region east of Kurile Island is faster than that (0.5-0.7 knot) deduced by the dynamic computation of ocean current.

  • As the importance of software in various industry areas has been increased, the number of accidents related to software safety are growing up. The key industries such as railroads, aviation and medicine, recommend IEC 61508 and international safety standards for their own to achieve functional safety and reduce the issues caused by that. For equipment of ship navigation, there are not any particular standards or guidance which Korean users can introduce as considering software functional safety. This article defines the procedure and outcomes of the risk analysis in order to secure software functional safety in marine navigational equipment and applies them to an echo sounder as a case study.

An Analysis of Accuracy for Submarine Topographic Information by Interpolation Method (보간기법에 따른 해저지형의 정확도 분석)

  • Three-dimensional information of submarine topography was acquired by assembling DGPS and Echo Sounder, which is mainly used in the marine survey. However, the features of submarine topography, derived according to mechanical data, were confirmed using human eyes. Because the dredging capacity using a submarine surveying data influences harbor public affairs, analysis and the process method of surveying data is a very special element in construction costs. In this study, information on submarine topography is acquired by assembling DGPS and Echo Sounder. Moreover, the dredging capacity in harbor public affairs has been analyzed by the interpolation method: inverse distance to a power, kriging, minimum curvature, nearest neighbor, and radial basis function. Also, utilization of DGPS and Echo Sounder method in calculation of the dredging capacity have been confirmed by comparing and analyzing the dredging capacity and the actual one, as per each interpolation. According to this comparison result, in the case of applying Radial basis function interpolation and Kriging, 3.94 % and 4.61 % of error rates have been shown, respectively. In the case of the study for application of the proper interpolation, as per characteristics of submarine topography, is preceded in calculation of the dredging capacity relevant to harbor public affairs, it is expected that more speedy and correct calculation for the dredging capacity can be made.

Estimation of Scour Depth at Bridnges and Comparative Analysis between Estimated and Measured Scour Depths (교량에서의 세굴깊이 산정 및 산정치와 실측치의 비교분석)

  • Recent internal and external bridge failures due to pier and abutment scour have emphasized the need for better methods of scour depth estimation. This paper compares the hydraulic analysis of the Namhan River Bridge over the Namhan River using one-dimensional models. WSPRO & HEC-2, and the two-dimensional model. TABS-MD based on the procedures presented in HEC-18 published by the U.S. FEdral Highway Administration. A comparison of estimated scour depth for this research based on the results from both one-dimensional and two-dimensional model is presented. At the same time, field measurement has been performed before and after flood using sounding instrument. Fathometer (DE-719C). A comparison between estimated and measured scour depth at bridge is also presented. Result shows that there is all the difference between estimated and measured scour depth due to dissimilarity between laboratory and field conditions. Also, it is difficult to measure the maximum scour depth accurately due to refilling. Therefore development of scour measuring equipment which can be used during peak flood, and derivation of empirical model appropriate for internal river system seems urgent.

Analysis of bed change based on the geometric characteristics of channel cross-sections (유로 단면의 기하학적 특성을 이용한 하상변화량 분석)

  • A methodology has been proposed to understand the spatiotemporal changes of the river topography through the longitudinal change of the geometric characteristics of the cross-sections and the properties related thereto. Three-dimensional spatial information of the riverbed was obtained through the detailed bathymetry survey using an acoustic echo sounder for the reach from Gumi Weir to Chilgok Weir in the Nakdong river. Geometric informations for the reference sections were extracted using the acquired bathymetry survey data. By comparing the geometric properties for the reference sections, it was possible to catch the topographic characteristics and its changes over a reach of the channel. Through comparison with past survey data, it was also possible to quantitatively grasp the amount of change in cross-sectional area and volumetric change of riverbed. It is expected that a quantitative evaluation of river topography changes will be possible by applying the method proposed in this study.

  • The maintenance of bridges installed in rivers is carried out through facility safety inspection and repair & reinforcement procedures according to the results. Many studies have been so far conducted on the safety check of the bridge upperstructure because of the ease of access. However as it is impossible to directly investigate whether the pier foundation installed in the river has been scoured. Management of underwater foundations has remained based on theory. In this study, the scour of the bridge foundation installed in such a river was realized in 3D form by using an echo sounder and VRS. This made it possible to predict the scour pattern through comparison and analysis with the ground height of the riverbed at the time of the bridge installation. Based on these results, if the pier foundation is used as an initial data to determine whether or not local scour is present and to predict long-term scouring, bridge collapse due to foundation scour can be prevented.

  • 하상변동은 하천을 효과적으로 활용하고, 하천 내 시설물을 유지관리하기 위한 중요한 정보 중 하나이다. 특히, 최근 4대강 사업으로 인한 하상변동 측정에 대한 수요가 높아짐에 따라 하상변동 측정에 대한 수요가 높아지고 있다. 하상변동 측정하기 위한 방법은 일반적으로 경험식 및 모델링과 실측에 의한 방법으로 구분할 수 있다. 경험식 및 모델링에 의한 방법은 대상 하천과 환경 조건에 따라 결과가 상이하게 나타나며, 실측에 의한 방법은 계측기기를 활용한 지점 단위의 측정에 의존하고 있다. 쉽게 말해 기존의 하상변동 측정은 높은 불확실성 보이며, 많은 인력과 비용, 그리고 시간이 소요되는 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 하상변동 측정의 한계를 극복하고, 하상의 움직임과 특성을 파악할 수 있는 AMV(Acoustic Mapping Velocimetry)를 도입하였다. AMV는 초음파를 이용하여 수심을 측정하는 음향 측심기에서 얻은 측정 결과를 바탕으로 초음파 영상을 생성하고, 영상 분석을 통해 하상의 움직임과 특성을 파악하는 알고리즘이다. 본 연구는 AMV의 일환으로, MBES로 측정된 자료를 기반으로 하상의 움직임을 조사하기 위해 AMV를 적용한 실증적 연구로 시도되었다. 본 연구에서 제시한 기술은, 1) ADCP, MBES를 통해 측정된 수심 정보를 초음파 하상 영상을 변환, 2) 연속 초음파 영상에 LSPIV와 같은 영상 유속계 기술을 도입하여 하상 이동속도를 산정, 3) 연속 초음파 영상에서 하상의 평균하상고, 파장 등의 특성을 파악, 4) Exner 방정식을 활용한 하상변동량 산정으로 구성된다. 본 연구에서 제시된 기술은 사용자의 경험과 판단에 의한 영향을 최소화하여 비교적 낮은 불확실성을 가지며, 비교적 적은 인력과 비용, 시간이 소요되는 경제성을 갖추고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 공간적으로 측정된 초음파 영상을 활용한 많큼 상대적으로 넓은 범위에 적용할 수 있다. 따라서 향후 국내 하상변동 연구에 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Evaluation of applicability of depth measurement method for vegetation streams using drone-based hyperspectral image (드론기반 초분광영상을 활용한 식생유무에 따른 하천 수심산정 기법 적용성 평가)

  • 하천법 개정 및 수자원의 조사·계획 및 관리에 관한 법률 제정으로 하상변동조사를 정기적으로 실시하는 것이 의무화 되었고, 지자체가 계획적으로 수자원을 관리할 수 있도록 제도가 마련되고 있다. 하상의 지형측량은 직접 측량할 수 없기 때문에 수심 측량을 통해 간접적으로 이루어지고 있으며, 그 방법은 레벨측량이나 음향측심기를 활용한 접촉식으로 이루어지고 있다. 접촉식 수심측량법은 자료수집이 제한적이기 때문에 공간해상도가 낮고 연속적인 측량이 불가능하다는 한계가 있어 최근에는 LiDAR나 초분광영상을 이용한 원격탐사를 이용한 수심측정 기술이 개발되고있다. 개발된 초분광영상을 이용한 수심측정 기술은 접촉식 조사보다 넓은 지역을 조사할 수 있고, 잦은 빈도로 자료취득이 용이한 드론에 경량 초분광센서를 탑재하여 초분광영상을 취득하고, 최적 밴드비 탐색 알고리즘을 적용해 수심맵 산정이 가능하다. 기존의 초분광 원격탐사 기법은 드론의 경로비행으로 획득한 초분광영상을 면단위의 영상으로 정합한 후 특정 물리량에 대한 분석이 수행되었으며, 수심측정의 경우 모래하천을 대상으로 한 연구가 주를 이루었으며, 하상재료에 대한 평가는 이루어지지 않았었다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 초분광영상을 활용한 수심산정 기법을 식생이 있는 하천에 적용하고, 동일지역에서 식생을 제거한 후의 2가지 케이스에 대해서 시공간(Spatio-temporal)초분광영상과 단면초분광영상에 모두 적용해 보았다. 연구결과, 식생이 없는 경우의 수심산정이 더 높은 정확도를 보였으며, 식생이 있는 경우에는 식생의 높이를 바닥으로 인식한 수심이 산정되었다. 또한, 기존의 단면초분광영상을 이용한 수심산정뿐만 아니라 시공간 초분광영상에서도 수심산정의 높은 정확도를 보여 시공간 초분광영상을 활용한 하상변동(수심변동) 추적의 가능성을 확인하였다.
