Theoretical investigation of vibrational characteristics of a multi-layered piezoelectric element for ultrasonic transducers (초음파 탐촉자용 다층 압전접합체의 진동특성에 관한 이론적 해석)

  • 본 연구에서는 공중용 초음파 센서에 많이 사용되고 있는 원판형 압전소자, 정합층, 그리고 후면충, 세 부분으로 이루어진 다층 접합체의 진동 특성을 기계적 진동 방정식을 이용하여 이론적으로 해석하였으며, 해석결과의 타당성을 유한요소 해석방법을 사용하여 검증하였다. 본 연구의 해석 방법은 다층 판, 특히 압전세라믹과 정합층으로 이루어진 2층과 후면층이 추가된 3층에 대한 진동 방정식에 적절한 경계 조건 및 수렴조건을 적용하여 고유진동 주파수를 유도하였다. 그리고 이를 이용하여 초음파 탐측자 개발 시 널리 사용되고 있는 설계변수 즉, 각 층의 반경, 두께, 밀도, 그리고 영률의 변화에 대한 공진주파수의 변화 경향을 분석하였다. 공진주파수 변화 경향에 대한 이 해석 방법의 타당성을 널리 사용되고 있는 유한 요소해석법을 사용하여 검증한 결과, 두 해석결과는 좋은 일치를 보였다. 그러므로 본 연구의 결과는 종래의 등가회로나 유한요소 해석법에 비해 더 간편하고, 더 정확한 해석결과를 제공할 수 있는 해석도구로써 이용될 수 있을 것이다.

Heat and Mass Transfer Enhancement of a pendant droplet on heated horizontal surface by acoustic resonance (가열된 평판위에 매달려 있는 액적의 음향공진에 의한 열 및 물질 전달 촉진에 관한 연구)

  • Nonlinear and forced oscillations of supported viscous droplet were focused in the present study. The droplet has a free contact line with solid plate and inviscid fluid. Natural frequencies of a pendant droplet have been investigated experimentally by imposing the acoustic wave while the frequency is being increased at a fixed amplitude. The evaporation was observed at atmosphere pressure. The droplet was recorded throughout the entire evaporation process and transient variations of the volume was measured. The evaporation process of oscillating droplet with thermofoil has been also observed to investigate analyzing the resonance effect on the thermal characteristics of droplet. It is found that a pendant droplet shows the resonant behaviors at each mode similar to the theoretical analysis. During imposing the acoustic wave, the pendant droplet makes a rotating motion in its longitudinal axis which is a new shape oscillation mode. The evaporation rate of a pendant droplet at resonant frequency is significantly enhanced.

  • Degradation occurred at the 6 inch swing check valve in nuclear power plant. Valve replacement and maintenance were carried out during the plant O/H. This report examined the degradation mechanism of the 6 inch check valve by the experimental and theoretical study. Results shows that the degradation was caused by valve chattering which due to the structural and acoustic resonance.

Resonance Mode Anlaysis in a Single Can-type Combustor through 3D Thermo-acoustic Analysis based on Helmholtz Solver (헬름홀츠 솔버 기반의 3차원 열음향해석을 통한 발전용 단일 캔 연소기에서의 공진 모드 분석)

  • This study conducted a 3D thermo-acoustic analysis based on the helmholtz solver to analyze the major resonance modes causing combustion instability in a single-can combustor. The experimental investigations were carried out on a test rig designed by the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) under various conditions of hydrogen co-firing and fuel staging. Through these experiments, two primary unstable frequencies were identified. To determine the resonance modes of these frequencies, a 3D thermo-acoustic analysis was conducted using temperature information from the test rig. The results confirmed that the unstable frequencies observed in the experiments were all longitudinal modes. Additionally, the mode shapes identified in the analysis facilitated a simplification of the exit geometry for the low-order network model, confirming that this did not significantly affect the fundamental resonance modes.

Case Study on Combustion Stabilization in FASTRAC Thrust Chamber Using Acoustic Cavities (FASTRAC 연소기에서 음향공을 이용한 연소불안정 제어 사례 연구)

  • 3-D linear acoustic analysis has been performed to elucidate damping characteristics of large Helmholtz acoustic cavities in FASTRAC thrust chamber. Acoustic impedance concept has been introduced to quantify combustion stabilization capacity. For a given acoustic cavity, sonic velocity in the cavity to achieve an optimal tuning has been determined and satisfactory agreement with the previous results has been obtained. Feasible estimation of sonic velocity in the acoustic cavity has been devised. Results show similar trends without significant deviations, which can be used in the procedure of design and verification of acoustic cavity. From the satisfactory results, investigation of other thrust chambers with acoustic cavities which have shown combustion instabilities will be done as future works.

  • The previous RST postulates that the scattering field, within each modal partial wave, comprise of the resonance and the background components. The new RST is recently developed by the product expansion of the scattering functions in the field of acoustics. The new formulation suggests that the scattering coefficients consist of resonance, non-resonance, and their interactional portions. In the scattering problems of acoustic waves, the moduli and phase of the resonance coefficient are obtained correctly by the new RST. In our recent works the new RST was successfully applied to the scattering problem of electromagnetic waves for coated conducting cylinder and sphere. In this paper, the new RST is extended to the 2-dimensional scattering problem of electromagnetic waves for a homogeneous dielectric cylinder, and the numerical results are compared with the previous RST.

  • In the design of underwater electro acoustic transducer, power factor improvement circuit is more required rather than impedance matching if the driving power amplifier has little inner resistance. Many research results have been focused on the power matching circuit designing for transferring maximum power in the wideband. There are few results in the designing study on the power factor improvement for the wide band underwater electro acoustic transducer. In this paper, we set up a new design method on the power factor improvement for the wide band electro acoustic transducer, and confirm its feasibility by the experiments.

  • This paper presents a study on acoustic characteristics and sound generation mechanism of Cryptotympana atratas' songs which cause noise problems in summer days. The waveforms & FFT of Cryptotympana atratas' songs in nature were analyzed, and the actions of tymbals were visualized by the high speed camera. In order to know resonance frequency of the abdominal cavity of male Cryptotympana atrata, the sine sweep test was done. It was observed from the experimental results that Cryptotympana atrata's two tymbals act asymmetrically with respect to time & shape, and make a variety of frequencies every time it vibrates. It was also shown that Cryptotympana atratas' have a structure that cause resonances sounds only in a $7{\sim}7.5 kHz$ bandwidth.

  • 본 논문은 램프 점등을 위한 공진회로와 정상상태에서의 저주파수 구형파(low frequency square-wave) 인버터 전류 제어를 실현하는 HID 전자식 안정기에 풀브리지 인버터(FB)와 LC 필터를 제안한다. 점등은 LC필터의 공진주파수에서 풀브리지 인버터 제어에 의한 공진에 의해서 이루어지고, 점등 후에 회로는 풀브리지 제어에 의해 벅컨버터 저주파수 구형파 인버터로 동작한다. 점등이 일어나는 동안의 LC필터의 공진주파수는 ($f_o$=120kHz)이고, 고조파를 감소시키고 음향공명현상을 피하기 위한 벅컨버터스위칭 주파수($f_{sw}$=50kHz)를 선택하였다.
