This study examined the health behavior and comorbidity based on a community health survey of stroke patients in 2010. The subjects were 4,449 adults over the age of 19 years, who were diagnosed by doctors and completed a community health questionnaire. The subjects demographic characteristics, health behavior and comorbidity were analyzed. Significant differences in age, education, smoking and alcohol consumption were observed. The influencing factors for comorbidity according to gender included myocardial infarction, diabetes and depression. According to the characteristics of comorbidity of the life cycle, hypertension, myocardial infarction and depression. The influencing factors related to the 19-44 year age group included Ex-smokers, 45-64 year old ex-smokers, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, atopic dermatitis, and the 75 year and over group with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, tuberculosis, and atopic dermatitis. This study suggests that health education and a health policy approach based on the relevance between stroke and comorbidity, and the health behavior according to the life cycle and gender are needed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral health behaviors and periodontal diseases in adult obese people. Using the original data of the second phase of the 6th National Health and Nutrition Survey, the final 4381 adults were extracted. We analyzed frequency and technical statistics and chi - square test and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS statistical program to confirm the association between body mass index, number of brushing, drinking, smoking and oral health status and behavior. As a result, the prevalence of periodontal disease decreased as the number of toothbrushing increased, and the prevalence of periodontal disease increased as the body mass index increased. Through this study, obesity, a global health issue, should be more concerned with oral care and develop oral health management programs.

Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the present condition of drug abuse and its association with depression, self-rated health and health behaviors by job status in Korean adults. Methods: Data were derived from the study on four addiction problem and suicide in 2014. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze patterns of drug abuse according to depression, self-rated health and health behaviors. Results: The prevalence of drug abuse during the past year was 17.1% of the 4,018 subjects. About 3.3 times risk for drug abuse was found among individuals who had high depression scores. The risk of drug abuse was higher among those who were smoking (OR:1.46, 95% CI:1.17~1.83), drinking more frequently (OR:1.30, 95% CI:1.07~1.58), sleeping insufficiently (OR:1.31, 95% CI:1.03~1.67), eating irregularly (OR:1.45, 95% CI:1.19~1.76). Drug abuse problem was detected more seriously among employed than unemployed adults. Conclusion: Health-related behaviors, such as smoking, drinking, sleeping, eating should be considered simultaneously when designing strategies to deal with drug abuse problem, and it is important to understand the interaction between drug abuse and mental health. Furthermore, workplace based intervention can be effective in solving drug abuse problem.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess health-related behavior of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers by investigating relevant risk factors. Methods: Data of 10,396 women (age 19 to 49 years) from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey report from 2007 to 2012 was used to analyze factors associated with health-related behavior. The subjects were divided into pregnant women; breastfeeding mothers; and non-pregnant women. Bottle feeding mothers were excluded. Results: Current smoking rate including self-reported smoker and/or positive cotinine urine test were lower for pregnant or breast-feeding group than non-pregnant group. Heavy-drinking was not different among groups while monthly drinking rate was higher in non-pregnant group. Rate of stress recognition was lower in pregnant and breast-feeding group than non-pregnant group. Rate of experience for depressive symptoms and rate of suicidal ideation were not different among groups. Conclusion: Pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers maintain a good pattern of health- related behavior compared to non-pregnant women. However, substantial proportion of pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers continue to drink and smoke. This shows the need for a plan that will modify health-related behavior.
The purpose of this study is to contribute basic data toward the efficient management of Hypertension by comprehensive analysis of several factors which make influences on indicators of Hypertension management. To achieve this, using the data of 2007, 2008 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2,580 adults aged over 19 who suffered from hypertension have been analyzed comprehensively. The major results can be summarized as follows: First, in regard to the influential factors for awareness and treatment of hypertension, the older the patients were, the poorer their self-rated health status were. And when they had experienced a health examination, the more likely the hypertensive patients were aware of their hypertension and took the treatment for it. Second, as for the influential factors for control of hypertension, those who were older and those who had a health examination were significantly more likely to control their hypertension irrespective of gender. However, regular drinkers fell significantly behind in that aspect. The findings of this study show that systematic hypertension management, focusing on health behavior factors that affect the level of hypertension management, in accordance with the patients' sex and age will provide a more efficient way.
This study was performed to compare the effects of health behaviors, dietary habits, and psychological health on metabolic syndrome (MS) between young adults living in one-person households (OPHs) and multiple-person households (MPHs). The data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), which was conducted in 2014 and 2016 were used. The subjects were 2,682, who were 20 to 39 years old. The data were analyzed using complex sample Rao-Scott ${\chi}^2-tests$, t-tests, and multiple logistic regression using SPSS 23.0 software. Sex, age, obesity, and subjective health status were associated with MS in young adults living in either OPHs or MPHs. Breakfast consumption frequency, eating alone, food label use, stress, and depression were associated with MS only in young adults living in OPHs. Thus, these differentiated risk factors of MS should be considered, when health promotion strategies and interventions are planned for young adults living in OPHs. Also, further studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies or interventions.
This study was attempted to understand the effect of the violence victim experience of Korean adolescents on smoking using the data of the 15th (2019) online youth health behavior survey. The subjects of this study were 57,303 people, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS / Win 26.0 program for frequency analysis of complex samples, cross sample analysis (Rao-Scott 2 test), and logistic regression analysis of complex samples. The main result was 12.7% of the smoking subjects. Those who smoked were significantly more 9.6% and 22.0%, respectively, compared to those who had no more than 1 or 2 times of violence. Smoking of Korean adolescents adjusted for gender, grade, academic record, economic status, drinking, family living, and usual stress increased the odds ratio for smoking by 1.66 times when the degree of violence damage experience increased by 1 unit. As a result of the above, as the degree of violence victimization of adolescents increases, the likelihood of smoking increases. Therefore, it is necessary to multidisciplinary convergence effort to the prevention and management of violence of adolescents, and to reduce the smoking of adolescents.
This study identifies factors related to suicidal ideation such as demographics, health behaviors and subjective perceptions of high school students. This study analysis using the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression to find out the factors related to suicidal ideation using the 2020 youth online health pattern survey of 25,987 Korean high school students. Sociodemographic factors that affected suicidal ideation in these subjects included grade, gender, and housing type. The health behavior characteristics were experiences with drinking, smoking, sex, and drug misuse. Finally, the subjective perception characteristics included health status, happiness status, loneliness, stress level, and depression. Therefore, it is expected that will be used as basic data for strategies to prevent suicide among high school students in Korea in the covid-19 environment.
