Transformation and Characteristics of the Verse-Chorus Form Used in Musical Theatre Songs (뮤지컬 노래에 사용된 'Verse-Chorus' 형식의 변용과 특징)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the transformation and characteristics of the Verse-Chorus form. The musical form of a musical song is a structural mechanism for expression to effectively convey the dramatic situation of the characters to the audience. This study identified four types of representative forms that can be used to explore the transformation with the verse-chorus form and examined their characteristics. First is the Verse-Chorus form which repeats the description of simple situations and characters in the early stage of the musical. Second is the Verse-Bridge-Verse form which is used to evoke the atmosphere and escape boredom through a slight transformation of the bridge while explaining a simple character. Third is the Verse-Prechorus-Chorus form, which sits just before the chorus, connects the verse and the chorus, and promotes the emotional rise of the characters by smoothing the drama and the harmonic progression. Lastly, this study examined the expanded Verse-BG dialogue-Chorus form used to represent the situation in which conflicts about the complex feelings of the characters and the decisions about them coexist. As such, musical songs use various types of verse-chorus forms. Through the formality and transformation of the verse-chorus, the logic of the music and the logic of the drama are balanced so that the development of the music and the drama does not enter the state of imbalance. Based on this study, further progressive research can take place on the correlation between musical form and dramatic structure, beyond the transformation of musical song form.

Sound Visualization based on Emotional Analysis of Musical Parameters (음악 구성요소의 감정 구조 분석에 기반 한 시각화 연구)

  • In this study, emotional analysis was conducted based on the basic attribute data of music and the emotional model in psychology, and the result was applied to the visualization rules in the formative arts. In the existing studies using musical parameter, there were many cases with more practical purposes to classify, search, and recommend music for people. In this study, the focus was on enabling sound data to be used as a material for creating artworks and used for aesthetic expression. In order to study the music visualization as an art form, a method that can include human emotions should be designed, which is the characteristics of the arts itself. Therefore, a well-structured basic classification of musical attributes and a classification system on emotions were provided. Also, through the shape, color, and animation of the visual elements, the visualization of the musical elements was performed by reflecting the subdivided input parameters based on emotions. This study can be used as basic data for artists who explore a field of music visualization, and the analysis method and work results for matching emotion-based music components and visualizations will be the basis for automated visualization by artificial intelligence in the future.

  • 지금까지의 정보통신 서비스는 사용자에게 필요한 정보를 제공하거나 사용자와 사용자를 연결해주는 통로로서의 서비스를 제공하여 왔으나, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅과 유비쿼터스 네트워크 기술을 기반으로 한 유비쿼터스 서비스는 사용자가 처한 상황에 기반하여 정보 제공은 물론 필요한 행위까지도 제공하여 사용자의 욕구에 가장 근접한 서비스 제공에 초점을 두는 컨시어지형 서비스가 될 것이다. 이러한 서비스는 사용자의 기호 및 상태, 또는 상황 등의 다양한 정보에 근거하여 서비스를 제공할 수 있어야 하며, 이를 위한 효과적인 접근 방법으로는 사용자의 다양한 정보를 각각의 대리자에게 처리를 하게 하는 멀티 에이전트 기술일 것이다. 본 연구에서는 음악이나 그림을 활용하여 신체적, 정신적 질환을 치료하는 음악 치료나 그림 치료인 Art-Therapy를 유비쿼터스 서비스의 구현 사례로 기술한다. 사용자의 신체적 또는 정신적 상태 및 환경 정보를 센서를 활용하여 측정하고 그 측정된 데이터에 근거하여 사용자의 상태를 판단하고 이에 따라 음악 및 미술 작품을 시청각으로 제공함으로써 치료 효과를 얻는다. 본 연구에서의 Art-Therapy 서비스는 FIPA에서 제안한 멀티 에이전트 기반 구조인 에이전트 플랫폼을 기반으로 구현하였다.

A Study on User Willingness of Intelligent Music Platform Based on TAM Model

  • In this paper, we propose to study the factors affecting the user's intention to use smart music platform, and on the basis of studying the impact of service quality on the user's intention to use, such as perceived usability, perceived ease, perceived entertainment and perceived cost, respectively. Based on this, the impact factors model on the usage intention of smart music platform users was presented, and 398 questionnaires were collected through a survey of university students majoring in Chinese music, and the collected data were obtained by conducting frequency analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model analysis using spss20.0 and amos20.0. The results show that: Quality of service has a positive effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived entertainment and perceived cost. A study found that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived entertainment have a positive effect on users' intention of use and perceived cost has a negative effect on their intention of use. Through this conclusion, the entrepreneur presented an important meaning in promoting sustainable development of smart music platforms by improving the operation and profit model of smart music platforms.

  • The function of music in a motion picture ranges widely from supporting the storyline to being the main storyline delivering the major plots. This trend and can be seen in recently produced films, advertising as well as in music videos. Many attempts were made to express music visually in the past. But it was through Disney's creative production, "Fantasia", that such attempts became a reality in a motion picture. This paper will look into the difference between the "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" through a comparative analysis of the correlation between the musical element and the storyline of the 2 Disney animation movies. The most distinct difference is that the "Fantasia" has a storyline that is faithful to the original interpretation of the true meaning of the music, while, on the other hand, the "Fantasia 2000" has a storyline that endeavors to express the special features of the overall sound of individual pieces as best as possible. And the differences between the two animations, thus compiled, is hoped to facilitate and enhance a better understanding of the two Disney's finest animations.

  • Music copyright began in 1850 in France and, unlike other copyrighted works such as architecture or arts, which are based on visual conditions, copyrighted music is based the on trends of the times. The appropriate range of protection for musical works is not the entire music, but the part that is determined to be a creative expression deduced from the analysis of the musical structure. Concerning the issue of plagiarism in popular music, the determination of creativity plays an important role in whether a piece of music encroaches on the original copyrighted works or not. However, determining whether a work is an element of a previously copyrighted work should be achieved through a consensus formed by members of the relevant industry and academia rather than the court. The purpose of this study is to classify the creative and non-creative elements of popular music, in order to create a classification that can enable musical creators to provide a consensus on the elements of creative expression.

Research on the Impact of Digital Music Products on the Development of Regional Tourism Economy

  • In this paper, we propose a study to investigate the significant impact of digital technology on the development of the cultural industry and tourism. By collecting, selecting, and analyzing data on digital music products from 281 cities in China from 2005 to 2022, we confirm that well-known digital music products play a crucial role in promoting domestic tourism economic growth. However, their impact on the international tourism economy is not significant. Furthermore, these well-known digital music products can not only promote the development of the regional tourism economy but also influence the tourism economy of neighboring cities. The promotional effect of well-known digital music products is particularly important in fourth- and fifth-tier cities with rich cultural diversity and abundant tourism resources. Overall, well-known digital music products have a positive role in stimulating market vitality and promoting regional tourism economic development. These findings provide an important foundation for the integrated development of culture and tourism in the digital age and offer valuable insights for upgrading regional industrial structures and fostering regional harmonious development.

A Study on Music Summarization (음악요약 생성에 관한 연구)

  • Music summarization means a technique which automatically generates the most importantand representative a part or parts ill music content. The techniques of music summarization have been studied with two categories according to summary characteristics. The first one is that the repeated part is provided as music summary and the second provides the combined segments which consist of segments with different characteristics as music summary in music content In this paper, we propose and evaluate two kinds of music summarization techniques. The algorithm using multi-level vector quantization which provides a repeated part as music summary gives fixed-length music summary is evaluated by overlapping ration between hand-made repeated parts and automatically generated summary. As results, the overlapping ratios of conventional methods are 42.2% and 47.4%, but that of proposed method with fixed-length summary is 67.1%. Optimal length music summary is evaluated by the portion of overlapping between summary and repeated part which is different length according to music content and the result shows that automatically-generated summary expresses more effective part than fixed-length summary with optimal length. The cluster-based algorithm using 2-D similarity matrix and k-means algorithm provides the combined segments as music summary. In order to evaluate this algorithm, we use MOS test consisting of two questions(How many similar segments are in summarized music? How many segments are included in same structure?) and the results show good performance.

Secondary Path Estimation Algorithm Based on Residual Music Canceller for Noise Cancelling Headphone (노이즈 캔슬링 헤드폰에 적합한 잔여 음악 제거기 기반의 2차 경로 추정 알고리즘)

  • An active noise control (ANC) algorithm for noise canceling headphone is proposed. In this study, the feedback ANC operated with the filtered-x least mean square algorithm (FxLMS) algorithm is used to attenuate the undesired noise. Also an adaptive residual music canceller (RMC) is proposed for enhancing the accuracy of the reference signal of the feedback ANC. Simulation results show that a high quality of music sound can be consistently achieved in a time-varying secondary path situation.

Case study of Music & Imagery for Woman with Depression (우울한 내담자를 위한 MI(Music & Imagery) 치료사례)

  • This case used MI techniques that give an imagery experience to depressed client's mental resource, and that makes in to verbalism. Also those images are supportive level therapy examples that apply to positive variation. MI is simple word of 'Music and Imagery' with one of psychology cure called GIM(Guided Imagery and Music). It makes client can through to the inner world and search, confront, discern and solve with suitable music. Supportive Level MI is only used from safety level music. Introduction of private session can associate specification feeling, subject, word or image. And those images are guide to positive experience. The First session step of MI program is a prelude that makes concrete goal like first interview. The Second step is a transition that can concretely express about client's story. The third step is induction and music listening. And it helps to associate imagery more easily by used tension relaxation. Also it can search and associate about various imagery from the music. The last step is process that process drawing imagery, talking about personal imagery experience in common with therapist that bring the power by expansion the positive experience. Client A case targets rapport forming(empathy, understanding and support), searching positive recourse(child hood, family), client's emotion and positive support. Music must be used simple tone, repetition melody, steady rhythm and organized by harmony music of what therapist and client's preference. The client used defense mechanism and couldn't control emotion by depression in 1 & 2 sessions. But the result was client A could experience about support and understanding after 3 sessions. After session 4 the client had stable, changed to positive emotion from the negative emotion and found her spontaneous. Therefore, at the session 6, the client recognized that she will have step of positive time at the future. About client B, she established rapport forming(empathy, understanding and support) and searching issues and positive recognition(child hood, family), expression and insight(present, future). The music was comfortable, organizational at the session 1 & 2, but after session 3, its development was getting bigger and the main melody changed variation with high and low of tune. Also it used the classic and romantic music. The client avoids bad personal relations to religious relationship. But at the session 1 & 2, client had supportive experience and empathy because of her favorite, supportive music. After session 3, client B recognized and face to face the present issue. But she had avoidance and face to face of ambivalence. The client B had a experience about emotion change according depression and face to face client's issues After session 4. At the session 5 & 6, client tried to have will power of healthy life and fairly attitude, train mental power and solution attitude in the future. On this wise, MI program had actuality and clients' issues solution more than GIM program. MI can solute the issue by client's based issue without approach to unconsciousness like GIM. Especially it can use variety music and listening time is shorter than GIM and structuralize. Also can express client's emotion very well. So it can use corrective and complement MI program to children, adolescent and adult.
