The purpose of this research was to review the music choices of GIM therapists in GIM. Seven databases and nine music therapy journals were searched with keywords such as "Guided Imagery and Music", "GIM", "Helen Bonny", "Bonny method", "Music and Imagery" and "BMGIM" between 1964 to 2013. Every abstract was confirmed to see whether it meets this research topic. 12 of 126 articles that described the reasons for music choices were selected. It is the result of narrative literature review that GIM therapists chose music to match clients' qualities of moods, emotions, feelings related with issues and clients' themes in therapy. In 5 articles among the 12 articles, authors chose music with considering music elements analytically to match clients' states. Reasonable explanations for music choice were reviewed in these 5 articles. There were limitations to obtain common facts between articles because most of 126 articles were case studies which described from therapists's point of view in a qualitative way. A more fundamental research is required to obtain rationales of music choices in GIM as a music-centered music psychotherapy for the further research.

대중음악에서의 가사는 인간의 감정을 전달하는 하나의 감성 표현으로 음악 요소와 서로 밀접한 관련이 있다. 인간이 느끼는 감정 상태에 따라 음악을 선택하는 기준이 달라지며, 이러한 선택은 음악의 선호도와 유행에 민감한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 신나는 이라는 감성을 중심으로 가사와 템포, 조성, 화성진행, 전조 등의 음악 요소를 분석하고 감정에 따른 가사와 음악요소의 비교분석을 통하여 음악과 인간의 감성과의 상관관계를 연구하고자 한다.

The rise of music resources has led to a parallel rise in the need to manage thousands of songs on user devices. So users are tend to build play-list for manage songs. However the manual selection of songs for creating play-list is bothersome task. This paper proposes an auto play-list recommendation system considering user's context of use and preference. This system has two separate systems: mood and emotion classification system and music recommendation system. Users need to choose just one seed song for reflection their context of use and preference. The system recommends songs before the current song ends in order to fill up user play-list. User also can remove unsatisfied songs from recommended song list to adapt user preferences of the system for the next recommendation precess. The generated play-lists show well defined mood and emotion of music and provide songs that user preferences are reflected.

The purpose of this study is to explain experiences of non-music majors to changing their majors into music therapy and to provide the preliminary study for deriving a grounded theory. For that, in-depth interviews were performed targeting 5 students who did not major in music in their undergraduate courses selected from the graduate students who are majoring in music therapy at the colleges located in Seoul. Data was analyzed for the study by applying the modified grounded theory. The result of study showed that they selected the course of music therapy career as they were motivated by the realistic demand for future employment, career potentials and other realistic causes. These factors caused them to study the surrounding situations and conduct the detailed research on the possibility of music therapy. These factors were also dependent on the individual characteristics, external elements and music background. These experiences were connected to the self-integration and pursuit of growth by newly setting their relation to the 'Music Child'. In addition, the demand of being the meaningful existence in relationship also affected them to more specify their aspirations in the progress of career selection on a continual basis. This study is meaningful as it provides the actual information on them.

스트리밍 기술이란 전송되는 데이터를 마치 끊임없고 지속적인 물 흐름처럼 처리할 수 있는 기술을 의미한다. 멀티미디어 데이터의 각 블록이 원격 서버로부터 네트워크를 통해 클라이언트에 도착하는 즉시 재생을 시작하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 인터넷 스트리밍 기술을 이용한 배경음악 전송시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 하나의 서버에서 여러 개의 음악 채널을 인터넷을 통하여 전송하고 다수의 클라이언트에서 각각 원하는 음악 채널을 선택하여 음악을 들을 수 있도록 한 것이다. 인터넷을 통하여 사용자가 원하는 최신 음악과 장르, 세대, 날씨 등에 맞는 음악을 선택할 수 있고 끊이지 않는 음악을 제공함으로서 사용자의 만족도를 높이고 불필요한 매체 구입비용도 절약할 수 있다.

People can listen to almost every type of music by music streaming services without possessing music. Ironically it is difficult to choose what to listen to. A music recommendation system helps people in making a choice. However, existing recommendation systems have high computation complexity and do not consider context information. Emotion is one of the most important context information of music. Lyrics can be easily computed with various language processing techniques and can even be used to extract emotion of music from itself. We suggest a music-level similarity evaluation method using emotion and structure. Our result shows that it is important to consider semantic information when we evaluate similarity of music.

20th century music has been recognized as disconnected. Some criticized that it is not music. This controversy has been continued over decades in music history. This study applied Darwin's evolutionary theory to John Cage's 4'33", the most popular music in 20th century and tried to prove musical continuity embedded in it. 4'33" has always been a subject of controversy because it has no sound. However, the study found out that 4'33" has the common musical factor, the rest. 4'33" can be interpreted as the variation of the rest in evolutionary view. The rest has undergone a variety of variations in form and meaning since the beginning of the musical notation and was suitable for a new musical environment changed in 20th century. In the evolutionary view, 4'33" is evolved music, not disconnected.

Improvisational music therapy is known to promote social engagement in children with autism. This study investigated salient features that characterize the engagement of the child with autism and the therapist in improvisational music therapy. Through video analysis of the children's behavior, this study sets out to investigate what engages children with autism into mutual play with the therapist in improvisational music therapy by measuring the shared musical elements between the child and the therapist during musical synchronicity episodes and the children's choice of instruments. A repeated measures, a crossover design was employed in two different conditions (n = 10). Children were randomly assigned into two groups; group 1 participated music therapy first, followed by play therapy second. Group 2 followed the reverse order. Specific target behaviors were analyzed in the selected sessions 1, 4, 8 and 12. As expected, improvisational music therapy produced markedly more and longer events of musical synchronicity in children with autism than the play sessions with toys (p < .001). Rhythm and dynamic appeared to be the two most salient elements during musical synchronicity events between the child and the therapist. Observational findings confirmed that horns and whistles were the most frequently selected instruments in music therapy, whereas a dollhouse set was in play therapy by children with autism. The clinical implications and the details of these findings are discussed further.

본 논문에서는 사용자가 음악을 직접 선곡하지 않고 락, 트로트, 댄스, 힙합, 발라드 등 5가지의 장르 중 사용자가 선호하는 음악의 장르를 추천하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 실시간으로 연주되는 음악에서 Bass Drum 신호를 추출ㆍ분석하여, 기본적으로 한 마디에 소요되는 시간, 주법, 진폭 등 세가지 파라메터를 이용하여 5가지 장르로 분류하였다 선택 곡 수와 들은 시간으로 퍼지 추론을 통해 각 장르에 대한 사용자 만족도를 평가한다. 평가된 만족도에 의해 사용자가 선호하는 장르의 음악을 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다.

본 논문은 웹 상에서 음악을 듣는 사용자의 음악 취향을 평가 한 후, 취향에 맞는 인터페이스를 추천하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 초기 음악 취향 평가 단계에서는 평가 요소인 장르, 가수, 최신곡에 대한 사용자 데이터와 평가 요소에 대한 실험을 통해 얻은 중요도를 이용하여 퍼지측도.적분을 수행한다. 수행 결과 값이 높은 음악의 평가 요소에 의해 인터페이스를 추천하고, 추천된 인터페이스에 대한 선택 곡 수와 들은 시간으로 퍼지 추론을 통해 인터페이스에 대한 만족도를 평가한다. 평가된 만족도에 의해 중요도를 변경시킴으로써 사용자의 취향에 맞는 인터페이스를 제공하는 시스템 을 제안한다.
