  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the maternal functioning and related factors among early postpartum women. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 243 women recruited from three women's hospitals. Participants completed a structured questionnaire in on-line or off-line between 6 and 12 weeks postpartum. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS for Windows ver. 25.0. Results: The mean score for the maternal functioning was 73.28±16.78 out of 120 points. Maternal functioning was associated with postpartum depression (r=-.57 p<.001), and spousal and family support (r=.54, p<.001). According to the stepwise multiple regression, postpartum depression (β=-0.43, p<.001), spouse and family support (β=0.39, p<.001), employment (β=0.12, p=.012) and delivery method (β=-0.10 p=.026) had a significant relationship with the maternal functioning among postpartum women. These variables had an explanatory power of 49.0% for maternal functioning. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop and implement a maternal intervention program focused on alleviating postpartum depression and improving spouse and family support. This study will be the starting point for various studies by identifying the maternal functioning of postpartum women for the first time in Korea.

Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with 7 middle-aged women who underwent craniotomy. Verbatim transcripts were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological analysis to uncover the meaning of the illness experience of the participants. As a results, seven themes were identified: serious attack of fear in middle age, strengthening self-confidence in healing, escape from fear of death, care for my own body, two types of conflict for family harmony and disease, nurse as a healing partner, and opening the second life. • This study examined the effects of scenario-based education for patients with difficulty urination on nelaton knowledge, nelaton confidence, and nelaton catheterization skill ability of nursing college students. The data for this study were collected from May to June 2019, and were conducted for the third grade nursing students located in J city. A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used in 75 junior nursing college students subjects who were assigned to the experimental group 37 and the control group 38. The collected data was analyzed through the 2-test, independent t-test and paired-test. There were significant differences in nelaton confidence(t=4.60, p<.001), nelaton catheterization skill ability(t=3.46, p=.001). But scenario-based education was found to be insignificant in the nelaton knowledge of nursing students. Difficulty urination scenario-based education can be used as an effective educational intervention to improve nelaton confidence and nelaton catheterization skill ability. However, in nelaton knowledge, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness of education through additional research.
