  • The occurrence of complicating, multilateral social condition demands the strategy for facing many social state and consolidating public security against criminal loss. The lacking ability of local police for preventing crime can't satisfy the demand of security and can't get rid of fear of crime. At last, it brings a distrust of public confidence and became a factor of serious social crisis. We have problems - not only making an alternative plan for preventing crime, but also introducing CPTED(Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) by environmental design, to expect crime prevention and to select systemic crime prevention system and the most suitable model. And we have a goal - to recognize the importance of guard activity for local crime, analyse public safety activity in community & focusing guard activity as a strategy for them, apply CPTED in police and private security company as a local crime prevention & setting effective model, and, make it as an index for preventing & dealing with intellectual, brutal crime. The rapid growth in the guarding-activity field lighten the burden of police for crime-prevention. But the misjudgement of some people blocks it to be settled institutionally. It needs to reconsider what is the effective crime-prevention method, at this point of time when the all parts of a nation changing into unlimited competitive, private self-control system.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimal stocking rate of earthworm populations grown under different stocking rates. The stocking rate in terms of ratio of biomass of earthworms to biomass of feeds(organic resources) is an important factors for biomass productivity of earthworms and vermicast production. The different stocking rates were 1:16(S-1), 1:32(S-2), 1:48(S-3) and 1:64(S-4), as the ratios of biomass of earthworm to biomass of organic dairy cow manure, respectively. The stocking rate of 1:32(S-2) and 1:46(S-3) were obtained a higher values on increasing rates and conversion efficiency of organic matter to earthworm biomass than other stocking rates. Thus, a stocking rates of 1:32 and 1:46 estimated an optimal stocking rates for maximum biomass productivity of earthworms. A stocking rate of 1:16(S-1) showed a significantly highest values of vermicast production and ratios of vermicasts during the rearing periods.($$P{\leq_-}0.05$$) A stocking rate of 1:48(S-3) showed a highest values of the number of cocoons and vermicasts production per earthworm biomass among the treatment ($$P{\leq_-}0.05$$) The contents of nitrogen, available phosphorus, cation exchange capacity and exchangeable cations of vermicasts tended to increase with stocking rate and rearing progressed. Vermicasts have a great deal of potential for crop production and protection in sustainable organic cropping systems.

  • Deadweight piston gauge have been widely used as a fundamental instrument of precise pressure measurement because they are robust, accurate, potable, convenient to use and are able to realize the definition of pressure as farce per unit area. Basically, a deadweight piston gauge consists of a piston mounted vertically in a close-fitting cylinder filled with a gas and weights of known mass values. The pressure to be measured is applied to the base of the piston generating an upward vertical force, and is balanced by the downward gravitational force generated by weights. These instruments can be used to measure pressures above 10 kPa because of tare weights including piston. However, using a variable bell-jar pressure method and a newly developed weight loading device we can extend the application range of deadweight piston gauge to lower pressures. In this paper, we present the practical calibration results for two CDGs(Capacitance diaphragm gauge, MKS) with full-scale ranges of 1.33 kPa and 13.3 kPa, respectively.

  • The present work was attempted to improve the performance for the removal of water from ethanol/water mixtures through the ion-exchanged zeolite membrane in which $Na^{+}$ ion was substituted to either $K^{+}$ or $Ca^{2+}$ ion. The membranes were ion-exchanged with 0.5 mole/L aqueous solution of either KCl or $CaCl_2$ at $80^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs. In case of the ion-exchanged membrane in which $Na^{+}$ ion was substituted to $K^{+}$ ion, the total flux was decreased from $900\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr{\sim}2,500\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr$ to $600\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr{\sim}2,000\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr$ and the separation factor was increased from $600{\sim}2,200$ to $850{\sim}2,500$ compared to the NaA type zeolite membrane. And in case of the ion-exchanged membrane in which $Na^{+}$ ion is substituted to $Ca^{2+}$ ion, both the total flux and selectivity of water showed the similar tendency compared to the NaA type zeolite membrane. It is thought that the improved separation would be possible if the pore size of the zeolite membrane is controlled by the ion exchange.

  • This paper presents the application of a neural network for prediction of the unconfined compressive strength from physical properties and schmidt hardness number on rock samples. To investigate the suitability of this approach, the results of analysis using a neural network are compared to predictions obtained by statistical relations. The data sets containing 55 rock sample records which are composed of sandstone and shale were assembled in Daegu area. They were used to learn the neural network model with the back-propagation teaming algorithm. The rock characteristics as the teaming input of the neural network are: schmidt hardness number, specific gravity, absorption, porosity, p-wave velocity and S-wave velocity, while the corresponding unconfined compressive strength value functions as the teaming output of the neural network. A data set containing 45 test results was used to train the networks with the back-propagation teaming algorithm. Another data set of 10 test results was used to validate the generalization and prediction capabilities of the neural network.

  • S City depends on the T River as source water for water supply. Arsenic and boron from the hot-spring waste-water discharged from the hot-spring spa resort and emerging from the fractures of bedrock of the river have been prevalent contaminant of the T River water. This research was conducted to propose the simple and quick surrogate parameter for water quality management easily. And through making hexa-diagram of principal ions in the water samples, existing state of the water and influence of the human activity or geological origin can be figured out. As a results of characteristics of the T River water quality using principal component analysis, the contributory percentages of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd principal components were $40.80\%,\;21.40\%\;and\;11.31\%$, respectively. Therefore it was clarified that the quality of the T River water could be explained by these three principal components. Concentration of the chloride ion, which is one of the characteristics of the hot-spring water, was well correlated to both arsenic and boron concentrations. Hence concentrations of the arsenic and boron in the raw water of the water reatment plant can be predicted by the measurement of concentration of the chloride ion.

  • A simultaneous determination of 5 phenolic acids (gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, pcoumaric acid, trans ferulic acid) and 9 flavonoids (procyanidin b1, aspalathin, rutin, vitexin, hyperoside, isoquercitrin, luteolin, quercetin, chrysoeriol) in rooibos tea has been carried out by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). A validated analysis method in this study was applied to rooibos aqueous infusions. Rooibos tea is an antioxidant-rich tea which has anti-cancer, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic effect. Extraction yield of phenolics depends on steeping time and temperature of water. Tea infusions were prepared by placing 1 g of tea leaves or 1 tea bag in 100 mL of boiled water, and then at 3, 6 and 30 minutes intervals the infused teas were taken to carry out the analysis of phenolic contents. Another tea infusion was conducted with cold water ($25-30^{\circ}C$) for 30 minuntes. As a result, the total amount of phenolics was highest in rooibos tea steeped with hot water for 30 minutes, followed by 6 minutes, 3 minutes and cold water 30minutes and the result has statistical significance.

  • Post-harvest fungicide residue was measured in citrus fruits. Samples were collected from local markets in Seoul and analyzed using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS). LC-MS results were validated for the assay of pesticides by using linearity, accuracy, precision, and limits of detection and quantification. The linearity in the concentration ranged from 0.005 to 2.0 mg/kg ($R^2$ >0.999). Sample recoveries ranged from 80.2 to 98.3% with relative standard deviations below 4.0% for spiking levels from 0.01 to 1.0 mg/kg. The limits of detection ranged between 0.002 and 0.008 mg/kg, and the limits of quantification ranged between 0.006 and 0.027 mg/kg. The highest residue levels for carbendazim, thiabendazole, imazalil, and azoxystrobin in citrus fruits were 0.541, 0.958, 0.721, and 0.052 mg/kg, respectively. The pesticide residues found in citrus fruits were blow maximum residue limits (MRLs) and are not a serious public health problem.

  • Recently, the use of transformer-less UPS has increased to improve the efficiency of UPS. However, transformer-less UPS is required in three-phase four-wire input IGBT PWM rectifier and the existing three-phase three-wire PFC algorithm cannot be applied in the three-phase four-wire system due to the neutral current problem of UPS input. To control the three-phase four-wire input IGBT PWM rectifier, there are two existing algorithms: 3D SVM and single phase control method. These two algorithms have advantages/disadvantages in controlling the rectifier. The single phase control method is unstable for controlling the rectifier and the 3D SVM method has a problem that must increase the L value of the input-side inductor considerably. Therefore, this paper proposes digital single phase control technology and another new algorithm considering the d-q control, to improve the characteristics of the existing control algorithm. In addition, this paper performed a simulation and experiment based on the proposed control algorithm. The simulation results showed that the proposed technology can control three-phase four-wire IGBT PWM rectifier in a stable manner and can also reduce the neutral current. The proposed algorithm is a useful tool for controlling the three-phase four-wire IGBT PWM rectifier.

  • Mineralogy, beneficiation, and processes of titanium ores are reviewed from petrographic viewpoints. The most important titanium minerals are ilmenite ($FeTiO_3$) and rutile ($TiO_2$). Ilmenite will play major role :for raw material, because rutile are rapidly diminishing. Thus, there is a need to develope a successful process for producing high grade Ti02 from ilmenite. Commercial, as well as R and D processes to treat more abundant ilmenite ores fall in three general classess: 1. Iron in ilmenite is partially or completely reduced and separated either physically or chemically. 2. Iron is reduced to ferrous state and chemically leached away from the titanium. 3. Ore is treated to make chlorides either selectively or with subsequent separation and purification of $TiC_4$. Routes and efficiencies of these process technologies are primarily influenced by the particular ore deposit to be mined and secondly by environmental considerations. One deposit parameters which influence ilmenite process technologies are: 1. Complexity of microtextures of ilmenite intergrown with Fe-oxide minerals. 2. Composition of concentrates; ilmenites contain minor amounts of substituted Mg, Mn, and V. These elements plus iron and gangue minerals can cause difficulties to complete reactions, substantial acid consumption, difficulties of removing waste solids, and waste disposal problems. Major contributions to be made by petrologists for process optimization are: characterization and interpretation of compositional and physical changes of raw materials and solids derived from process streams. These informations can play significant role in selecting and improving process steps for titania production.
