The study subjects were 365 preschooler-mother pairs. SPSS 11.0 program was used to analyze the data of this study. Also, gender and temperament, and maternal parenting altitudes were found to be predictive in the preschoolers' adjustment behavior. • This study is intended to look for implications through longitudinal exploratory research on the change of children's problem behaviors for their temperament and parenting behaviors. The results are as follows. The factors influencing children's problem behaviors rose to 62 factors between 1990 and 2000, and 93 factors between 2000 and 2010 from total 41 factors between 1970 and 1990, which they were more than doubled after the 2000s compared with the earlier studies, subdividing children's problem behaviors. The proportion of the factors influencing children's problem behaviors showed that parents' moral thinking had the highest, and their negative thinking or emotion for children were higher than their moral thinking, which their problem behaviors were more greatly affected by parenting attitudes toward them than their own temperament or attitudes. The earlier studies were more likely to find the cause of children's problem behaviors for looking into the factors and causes influencing children's problem behaviors in terms of children's personal mental health, but there was more proportion of social environment, peer and teacher relationship while soaring family, relationship, home environment and child care center environment factors as well as children's personal factors after the 2000s. Consequently, the alternative resources or the environments of the times should be applied in other ways.

  • The subjects of this study were 210 fathers and mothers of 5-year-old preschoolers. Data were analyzed by correlation and regression. Results showed that "activity" was negatively related to children's self-control. Adaptability and rhythmics, however, were positively related to children's self-control in girl Mothers' imperative control was negatively but her position-oriented control and person-oriented control were positively related to the elf-control of boys. Mothers' position-oriented control and person-oriented control were positively related to the self-control of girls. but there were no significant relations found between mothers' imperative control and children's self-control Fathers' person-oriented control was related to the self-control of boys. Finally, both for boys and girls, "activity" was the most influential variable in children's self-control among the four sub-scales of temperament and parental modes of verbal control.

  • This research was based on achievement goal theory which categorizes young children's motivation into three types: mastery, the performance-approach, and performance-avoidance motivation. The participants consisted of forty-eight pairs of children aged 3-4 and their mothers. The participants completed two tasks in order to indentify their motivational types. The short form of the Child Behaviour Questionnaire(CBQ-SF), modified scales from Kim and Kim(2001), and the GIPEPS were also employed. The major findings of the research are as follows: First, in terms of the motivational types of the given sample, performance-approach motivation was ranked first followed by mastery motivation. Second, it was found that the temperament of young children was not related with their motivational types. Third, there were some differences in mother-child interaction between groups based on the frequency of feedback, questions, and the percentage of commands. Fourth, the mood of the relationship appeared to be the only factor of maternal interaction quality which related to children's mastery motivation.
