Effects of Low Dose Gamma Radiation on the Growth and Antioxidant Enzyme Activities of Chinese Cabbage (Brassica campestris L.) Seedlings (배추 유식물의 생장과 항산화효소의 활성도에 미치는 저선량 방사선의 효과)

  • In order to investigate the stimulatory effect(hormesis) of low dose gamma-radiation on the seeding growth of old seeds with respect to antioxidant defense systems, various doses of gamma radiation to the 5-year-old dried seeds of Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. cv Sulin eockaei). Compared to the new, 1-year- old seeds, old seeds irradiated by low does gamma radiation in the range of 1-2 Gy showed vigor growth as revealed by statistically significant increases both in the germination rates and the leaf size and fresh weight. Further, seedlings grown from seeds treated by low dose gamma radiation showed higher peroxidase and catalase activities than non-treated seedlings. These results suggest that the antioxidant defense systems could be closely related to the stimulatory effects of low dose radiation.   • 과실의 연화는 주로 조직의 세포벽의 구조적 붕괴에 기인하며 이 중 Pectin의 분해와 밀접한 관련이 있다고 한다. 과실의 세포벽에는 다량의 $Ca^{2+}$이 존재하면서 세포벽의 구조를 지지하는데 중요한 역할을 하고있다. 양액 재배시에는 배양액의 농도가 높을수록 $Ca^{2+}$ 흡수이동이 억제되어 토마토식물체의 $Ca^{2+}$ 함량은 감소하는 것으로 보고되었다. 본 실험은 $Ca^{2+}$을 이용한 토마토과실의 품질향상을 위한 연구의 기초자료를 얻고자 토마토 유식물체에 $Ca^{2+}$ 농도별, 종류별 처리를 통하여 토마토 육묘중 $Ca^{2+}$ 및 다른 양이온의 흡수 유형을 알아보고자 하였다.   • 유전공학기법으로 산삼이나 가시오갈피 등 약재를 대량 생산할 수 있는 새로운 기술을 개발하고 있는 (주)마이크로프랜츠는 주목받는 벤처기업이다. 전주에 있는 이 기업은 생약제재의 종자에서 분리한 세포를 액체 배지에서 배양한 다음 증식된 세포들을 체세포배 발생 과정을 거친 결과 뿌리와 잎을 갖춘 유식물체(싹이 튼 식물체)를 얻는데 성공했다. 이러한 조직배양 방법은 완전 무공해 약재를 생산할 수 있고 6년 걸리는 자연재배를 3개월이며 생산할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있다.

Effects of Different Mulching Materials on Rhizome Yield and Crude Saponin Contents in Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge (피복비닐 종류에 따른 지모의 근경수량 및 조사포닌 함량)

  • In this study effect of different mulching materials on yield and crude saponin contents in Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The rhizome yield of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was of which increased 16.7% more than those of non-mulching cultivation. The rhizome yield of young-plant propagation type in green PE mulching and transparent PE mulching cultivations were of which increased 29.4% and 26.5%, respectively more than those of non-mulching cultivation. The contents of methanal extract of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching and black PE mulching cultivations were of increased each 31.0%, 15.4% more than those of non-mulching cultivation. Crude saponin contents of seed propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was increased up to 30.3% compared to those of non-mulching cultivation. However, the crude saponin contents of seed propagation type in green PE mulching and black & white PE mulching cultivations were not affected by the non-mulching cultivation. Crude saponin contents of young-plant propagation type in transparent PE mulching cultivation was increased 24.0% and 15.4% more than those of green PE mulching and black PE mulching cultivations.
