  • 유비쿼터스 환경은 인간이 생활하는 각종 기기들에 컴퓨팅 능력과 네트워킹 능력을 가지고 상호간에 정보를 교환하며 서비스를 제공하는 환경을 말한다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 환경이 구축되기 위해서는 컴퓨팅 인프라 및 네트워킹 인프라를 기반으로 다양한 서비스 프레임워크가 지원되어야 한다. 여러 서비스 프레임워크에서 중요한 한가지로 서비스 및 자원에 대한 디스커버리 엔진을 들 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 이동 에이전트를 이용하여 효율적인 디스커버리 기법을 제안한다. 본 기법을 이용하면 빠른 서비스의 검색뿐만 아니라 서비스 목록들의 일관성을 유지해 높은 신뢰성을 제공할 수 있다.

  • 휴대용 가전 및 통신기기들 사이에서 일반적으로 10m 이내의 단거리 ad-hoc 통신을 제공하는 WPAN 기술은 현재의 유비쿼터스 환경에 대부분 단일 형태로써 기여하고 있지만, 시대의 흐름에 따라 점차 넓은 범위에 적용을 요구하는 유비쿼터스 환경에서는 한층 더 진보한 WPAN 기술이 요구된다. 한 가지 대안은 기존의 WPAN 기술들의 접목을 통하여 각 기술이 갖는 단점을 보완하고 다양한 환경에 적용할 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 본 논문은 전시관에서 관람이라는 환경을 통해 이러한 기술 접목을 적용하여 유비쿼터스 환경을 구현한 한 가지 사례를 제시한다.

  • In this paper we propose ubiquitous virtual reality framework and its application for fostering a sustainable content ecosystem in the convergence space of virtual reality and real space. The ubiquitous virtual reality framework supports fundamental infrastructure which consists of platforms for end-users and service providers and dual space management. The platform for the service provider allows experts to generate contents related to real objects while the platform for the end-users allows to consume, share and regenerate the contents contextually augmented over real objects. The dual space management stores, visualizes and provides the contents generated and extended by them for connecting different users and service providers. The proposed framework allows users to continuously generate, share and extend the contents and thus contribute to making multimedia service environment. We also implemented and evaluated the framework consisting of a desktop authoring platform, mobile authoring platform and a dual space management server. We then introduced a promising application scenario to show how the content ecosystem is empowered by ubiquitous virtual reality framework and is realized in our life. Consequently, we are expecting that the ubiquitous virtual reality technology will play a vital role in building continuously evolving multimedia service environment for the future computing environment.

  • This study is aimed at proposing a new approach to designing UDSS (Ubiquitous Decision Support System) which allows context-awareness and connectivity. In the previous studies, the need to design UDSS and analyze its performance empirically was raised. However, due to the complexity of empirical approaches, there is no study attempting to tackle this research issue so far. To fill this research void, this study proposes a Mobile Delivery System (MDS) as a form of UDSS, empirically analyzing how users perceive its context-awareness and connectivity functions. Especially, to add more rigor to the proposed approach to know how much it works well in the decision-making contexts, we considered three decision making phases (intelligence, design, choice) in the research model. With the valid questionnaires collected from 340 users of the MDS, we induced statistically proven results showing that both context-awareness and connectivity of the proposed UDSS (or MDS) influence the decision making steps positively and then contribute to improving the decision making quality.

  • As the collected information which is static or dynamic is infinite in ubiquitous computing environments, information overload and invasion of privacy have been pressing issues in the recommendation service. In this study, we propose a recommendation service procedure through P2P, The P2P helps customer to obtain effective and secure product information because of communication among customers who have the similar preference about the products without connection to server. To evaluate the performance of the proposed recommendation service, we utilized real transaction and product data of the Korean mobile company which service character images. We developed a prototype recommender system and demonstrated that the proposed recommendation service makes an effect on recommending product in the ubiquitous environments. We expect that the information overload and invasion of privacy will be solved by the proposed recommendation procedure in ubiquitous environment.

A Study on the Ubiquitous Cave Systems (유비쿼터스 동굴시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the implementation of the karst infrastructure systems for the u-cave. IT based u-cave represents spatial information derived fields, such as geographical distribution of the cave boundaries, physical configuration of the cave locations and formation characteristics of the karst history. These three aspects relate to karst infrastructure systems, cave monitoring center and spatial database implementation. In terms of the IT based u-cave infrastructure implementation systems, the u-cave depends on IT contents and spatial features. uIT contents are strongly related to IT839 strategy due to the national agenda is "u-Korea". Cave should contribute to u-cave construction through the spatial analyses methods including USN, RFID, LiDAR, ELD, and GIS technologies. For these methods various cave functions will guide to u-cave's distribution, location, and characteristics of karst. The infrastructure consists of landforms and speleothem facilities, underground related facilities, environmental protection systems, and cave planning. These six units of the cave infrastructures have spatial databases that consist of spatial configuration, such as 4-D in order to draw the spatial distribution of the limestone and lava caves. IT based u-cave system infrastructure implementation should deal with IT convergence to generate fusion affects.

  • Ubiquitous computing, a new type of network environment has been generating much interest recently and has been actively studied. In ubiquitous computing, the sensor network which consists of low electric power ad-hoc network-based sensors and sensor nodes, is particularly the most important factor The sensor network serves as the mediator between ubiquitous computing and the actual environment. Related studies are focused on network . management through lightweight hardware using RFID. However, to apply these to actual environment, more practical scenarios as well as more secured studies equipped with secures and efficiency features are needed. Therefore, this study aims to build a wireless network based on PTD for multi users, which provides the largest utility in individual networks, and propose an appropriate management method. The proposed method is designed to enhance security and efficiency related to various services required in wireless networks, based on the reliable peripheral devices for users or pm. using pm, which has been applied to electronic commerce transactions in existing papers, this study also proposed an appropriate management method that is suitable for a dynamic environment and setting a temporary group to provide various services.

  • Ubiquitous computing supports environment to freely connect to network without restrictions of place and time. This environment enables easy access and sharing of information, but because of easy unauthorized accesses, specified security policy is needed. Especially, ubiquitous sensor network devices use limited power and are small in size, so, many restrictions on policies are bound to happen. This paper proposes double-key based light weight security protocol, independent to specific sensor OS, platform and routing protocol in ubiquitous sensor network. The proposed protocol supports safe symmetric key distribution, and allows security manager to change and manage security levels and keys. This had a strong merit by which small process can make large security measures. In the performance evaluation, the proposed light weight security protocol using double-key in ubiquitous sensor network allows relatively efficient low power security policy. It will be efficient to ubiquitous sensor network, such as smart of ace and smart home.

  • Services are reusable units in business level. Ubiquitous computing provides computing services anytime and anywhere. The combination of both is becoming an important paradigm of computing environment. Fundamentals of services require flexibility and interoperability, and key elements of ubiquitous modeling require interoperability and context-awareness. There are two kinds of methods to identify services. The top-down approach is based on business process, and the bottom-up approach is based on components. The first approach depends on experts' intuitions, while the second approach suffers the incapability of expressing non-functional expression through components. Although a feature-based approach is capable of expressing non-functional expression and identifying services in ubiquitous environment, the research on this issue is not adequately addressed by far. To promote this research, this paper proposes a feature-based method to identify services in ubiquitous computing. The method extracts initial-candidate-services from a feature model. Then, the ultimate services are identified through optimizing and analyzing the candidate-services. The proposed method is expected to enhance the service reusability by effectively analyzing ubiquitous domain based on feature, and varying reusable service units.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경은 다양한 장치 혹은 시스템들이 동적으로 결합하여 구성되는 환경이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 장치 혹은 시스템들에 연동하여 사용자들을 위한 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 하는 효율적인 기반을 구축하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 특정한 운영 체제나 개발 환경을 가정하지 않고 다양한 환경에서 개발된 장치들이 쉽게 통합되어 연동될 수 있도록 하는 메시징 프로토콜을 제안한다.
