Technological Regime, Knowledge Spillover and Innovation (산업의 기술체제 특성이 지식전파와 기술혁신에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper aims to analysis sectoral innovation patterns of technological innovation and localized knowledge spillover in Korean manufacturing sector. Sectoral innovation system approach proposed that the specific pattern of innovative activity and knowledge spillover in an industry can be explained as the outcome of different technological regimes. Technological regime is defined by the particular combination of technological opportunities, appropriability of innovations, cumulativeness of technical advances and properties of the knowledge base. Based on a sample of 2,882 firms in manufacturing sector, this paper provides empirical estimates of the relationships between firm's product innovation and localized knowledge spillover. Results of the analysis provide considerable support to the hypothesis that firm's product innovation and localized knowledge spillover are related to the nature of the underlying technological regime. In the industry based on the tacit and specific knowledge, firm's product innovation is positively related to the localized knowledge spillover. This paper also shows that high stability in the ranking of innovators are related to high degrees of cumulativeness and appropriability.

스마트TV 서비스 혁신에 따른 시장 전망 : 파괴적 혁신(Disruptive Innovation) 이론을 근간으로

  • 본고에서는 스마트TV 혁신이 가져오는 시장의 변화를 전망하기 위해 '파괴적 혁신 이론' 과 애플 사례를 논의한 후, 스마트TV 혁신이 시장에 미치는 영향을 제작 유통 시스템, 시장규모 측면으로 나누어 분석하였다. 스마트TV는 '폐쇄형'을 '개방형' 시스템으로 전환, 유통/제작자간 관계를 개선하고, 개방형 채널 및 VOD 도입으로 4년 후 전체 방송시장이 14조 9,800억 원으로 성장하고, 개방형 IPTV로 인한 확대금액만 약 4,623억 원으로 전망되며, 방송시장 매출액 중 PP 차지 비중도 2013년 44.1%까지 1.7%포인트 확대, 직접 창출되는 일자리는 4년간 약 4,676개로 추정된다. 이의 생산유발효과는 2조 3,995억 원, 부가가치 유발효과는 1조 260억 원으로 예측되었다. 또한, 스마트TV 전체에서 도입을 예정하고 있는 TV앱스토어도 4년간 3,606억 원의 누적수익을 창출하며, 직접 창출되는 일자리는 약 2,322개, 생산유발 효과는 6,681억 원, 부가가치유발효과는 3,226억 원, TV앱스토어와 초기투자에 의해 기대되는 소프트웨어 시장고용확대 효과는 누적 3,586개로 예측되었다.

The Impact of Awe on Preference for Innovative Products: The Mediated Moderating Effect of Positive Technology Readiness (경외감이 혁신적 제품 선호도에 미치는 영향: 긍정적 기술준비도의 매개된 조절효과 )

  • Awe is recognized as an emotion linked to enhancing openness to new experiences and broadening one's cognitive perspective through the acquisition of new knowledge. This research aimed to investigate awe's impact on consumer behavior in advertising, using a 2 (emotion: awe/control) × 2 (product type: innovative/non-innovative) experimental design with 118 undergraduate students in Seoul, Korea. Findings revealed that awe-inducing advertising significantly increases product preference and positive technology readiness, particularly for innovative products compared to non-innovative ones or when awe is not elicited. The analysis of moderated mediation showed that positive technology readiness plays a mediating role in the relationship between awe induction and product preference. Notably, in the case of innovative products, awe-inducing advertising heightens positive technology readiness, subsequently increasing consumer preference for these products. These results reinforce existing literature on awe's positive effects, demonstrating its role in augmenting consumers' favorable attitudes toward innovative products. The study offers valuable insights for marketing strategies of companies promoting innovative products or services, highlighting the effectiveness of awe-inducing emotional appeals in shaping consumer attitudes towards innovation.

  • This is a case study of induced innovation, especially the effects of regulations on the technology and market of cosmeceuticals. Korean government enacts a‘cosmetics law’in 2000, which force pre-inspection of cosmeceuticals before market entrance since 2001. This regulation makes brisk activities of technology and product development and the entrance of many firms in the market. This law is scheduled to be amended by the protest of foreign conn-tries such as USA and Europe.

  • The objective of this research is investigating the mediating effect of job engagement on the relationship between job autonomy and innovative behavior in public organizations. Major findings from Structural Equation Model analysis demonstrates that the variable 'job engagement' took a positive role between job autonomy and innovative behavior. From theoretical point, this result provides the empirical evidence of causal relationship in the three components of attitude-cognition, emotion, and action, which contributes to the advancement of action theory. Some policy implications can be drawn from the empirical findings. Firstly, job autonomy need to be seriously considered as a strategic instrument for the encouragement of innovative behavior. Secondly, job engagement of employees need to be more carefully monitored to stimulate the innovative behavior in the public organizations. In public organizations, enhancement of innovative behavior can not be achieved from institutional arrangements. Provision of job autonomy is more effective method of behavior change than performance management approach.

A Study on Impacts of Industrial Convergence Using Patent Citations (특허인용관계를 활용한 산업융합 파급효과 연구)

  • Recent efforts of government to improve economic performance and increase employment through industrial convergence are being promoted actively. However, unfortunately, we have little of quantitative study on the following questions; (1) what is the rate of industrial convergence progressed?, and (2) what is the rate of total effects of industrial convergence spreaded?, and (3) which is the No. 1 industry in the magnitude of inductive effect of industrial convergence? In this study, we have measured and analyzed quantitatively the following questions using patent citation; (1) how is industrial convergence progressed?, and (2) how much has industrial convergence a effect on all industry?, and (3) what is the rate of the inductive effect of industrial convergence? In doing so, decision about industrial convergence has been made using patent citation and the effect of industrial convergence is drawn from convergence I/O table which made by patent citation.

Socio-economic Repercussion Effects of Technological Information Activities (기술정보활동의 사회경제적 기여효과 분석)

  • The aim of this paper is to analyse the impacts on domestic production, value added, employment and import substitution of national technological information activities, using the 1995 Input-Output Tables in Korea. The total output of technological information amounted to 4,167 billion won at current prices. The total domestic output of 2,318 billion won was generated directly and indirectly and the amount of value added totaled 3,773 billion won. 119 thousand new jobs were created and total import substitution amounted to 1,346 billion won. As an increase of 4,167 billion won in technological information sector led to an increase of 7,437 billion won in total socio-economic repercussion effects, the multiplier was 1.8 in 1995.

  • We consider IT equipment industry, especially IT equipment exports, in Korea. Currently IT equipment exports are about 30% of the total exports in Korea. Furthermore the amount of IT equipment exports continues to increase. The impact of IT equipment exports to Korea economy must be large enough. However the research on this impact analysis is not found easily. In this paper we analyze the economic repercussion effects of IT equipment exports from 2002 to 2005 by using the Input-Output Analysis. The status of IT equipment exports in Korea is summarized. The extensive results on various levels of IT equipment industry are proposed.

Economic Analysis of Government Investment on Information Highway in Korea (초고속 국가망사업 경제성분석에 대한 재검토)

  • 본 연구에서는 3단계에 걸쳐 투자하고 있는 초고속 국가망사업에 대해서 과연 사회적으로 경제성을 갖고 있는지 여부를 분석해 보았다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 산업연관모형을 이용하여 초고속 국가망 사업에 투입한 투자액이 유발시킨 부가가치 창출효과와 고용창출효과를 계산하였다. 다음으로 초고속 국가망 사업으로부터 파생되는 초고속 국가망의 기본서비스 수요를 예측하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 셋째, 초고속 국가망으로부터 파생되는 기본서비스 수요 창출로 인하여 향후 2010년까지 얼마만큼의 새로운 부가가치가 창출되고, 새로운 고용이 얼마만큼 창출되는지 여부를 산업연관모형을 통하여 분석하였다. 마지막으로 초고속 국가망 사업에 투자한 총금액에 대비하여 이를 통하여 얻어지는 부가가치창출효과, 고용창출효과 및 수요창출효과 등을 감안하여 과연 초고속 국가망 사업이 얼마만큼 사회적으로 경제성을 지니고 있는지를 계산해 보고자 하였다. 초고속 국가망 사업을 통한 직접적인 유발효과와 부가적인 효과를 모두를 고려하였을 때 예상되는 순수익의 투자수익율은 5439.2%로서 투자액의 54배의 사회적 수익성을 창출한다고 본다. 다음으로 부가가치유발액, 매출이익에 새로운 고용유발로 인한 소득증가분을 감안하여 사회적 수익을 계산하고, 이에 근거하여 경제성 분석을 하면 21,493.3.%와 같이 215배의 사회적 수익성이 창출된다고 계산되어진다. 따라서 간단하게 이익률법에 근거한 초고속국가망 사업에 대한 사회적 편익과 비용에 근거한 경제성 분석을 하면 초고속 국가망 사업은 투자액의 무려 215배의 사회적 편익을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다.

Digital Transformation of Customer Knowledge in Open Innovation Project: Focusing on Knowledge Depth and Type Sought (개방형 혁신(Open Innovation) 프로젝트에서 소비자 지식의 디지털 트랜스포메이션 과정: 지식의 깊이와 참여 동기 변화의 관계를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to identify consumer motivations of open innovation project participation from digital transformation perspective. By extending a traditional intrinsic/extrinsic motivation framework, we propose a three-dimensional perspective of the self-driven, firm-driven, and sociality-driven motivations. This reveals the significance of the social effects of open innovation projects as an example of digital transformation by categorizing the motivations based on the 'influencer' of the motivation building and by highlighting the importance of sociality as an influencer. As a result, self-efficacy is identified as a key motivation when the influencer exists internally. Economic incentive and firm reputation are identified when the influencer exists externally. Finally, competition, peer evaluation and social contributions are identified when the influencer exists socially. The role of knowledge type sought through innovation projects is further introduced to explain its moderating effects on motivations. The study is validated in two steps. First, we investigate four cases of open innovation projects and examine what motivations are highlighted in each context. Second, we collect survey data from 203 online game users and ask them on their motivations. The results confirm most of our hypotheses and highlight the significance of sociality in the knowledge-seeking process in open innovation projects. This study largely contributes to digital transformation literature by extending the view of motivation and examining the moderating role of knowledge involved in the projects.
