Performance of Broadcasting Contents by Platforms (방송 플랫폼별 콘텐츠 유통 성과)

  • This study investigated the attributes of the popular programs by various broadcasting related platforms(on-air, VOD, SNS) and the relationship between the outcomes of these platforms in order to get the implications of broadcasting contents distribution strategy in multi-platform era. First, the study found that drama programs of territorial broadcasting showed the most high performance in on-air platform while comedy entertainment programs got the outstanding achievement in VOD platform. Second, although it had the low ratings in on-air platform, the program could be highly probable to get a great deal of VOD hits if it had attracted the younger audience. Knowledge programs showed the similar outcome between on-air and VOD platforms. Third, the study found that the factor which had a significant influence on VOD performance was the amount of buzz in SNS. These results suggest that broadcasting content distribution strategy in multi-platform era needs the understanding of the segmented target audiences of content and the analysis of trait of each platform.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how technological innovation and increasing competition affect the relationship among market players and what policy issues are emerging through the case of UHDTV. There emerges sharp conflicts among consumer-electronics companies, telcos, terrestrial broadcasting companies and pay-TV companies since they all have different perspectives and interests regarding the way UHDTV services are introduced in the competitive broadcasting market. Dualized governance structure leads to aggravating conflicts. While the case of UHDTV demonstrates clearly that technological innovation and more competition into the market create conflicts among these market players, it is well expected that we will see very often similar conflicts and policy chaos in this innovative and competitive broadcasting industry.

  • It has been 3 years since the TV broadcasting industry migrated to the UHDTV broadcasting service. Theoretically UHDTV picture quality is four times better than HDTV. UHDTV broadcast has been put to practical use by domestic broadcasters, excluding public broadcasters. The resolution of UHDTV does not correspond to the standard UHDTV values, the viewer have no choice but to watch existing contents on UHDTV. Therefore this paper analyses the current broadcast technology level for the image quality improvement, and to investigate the bandwidth of UHD broadcasts. In this paper we have studied current condition of HDMI interface technology and suggesting Super MHL interface technology capable of performing a successful establishment of the new broadcasting platform in future 8K UHD broadcasts alternatively. In order to improve the UHD broadcasting, we are expecting the development change of UHD broadcasting service user experience.

  • Expand the market because the size of the huge funds administered by the conversion of over-the-air digital TV broadcasts in the current situation is likely to be reduced due to the influence of the media over-the-air broadcasts new paid media, digital cable TV and IPTV new mobile TV as a new growth engineis required. Broadcasting system to increase the supply and demand of the module from the ATSC-M/H DMB business existing in the domestic over-the-air broadcasters, has seen significant achievements in sleep technology with the introduction is expected. ATSC-M/H does not require a separate frequency allocation for mobile services does not interfere with the existing ATSC system simulcast, which can be performed on Android mobile handsets American-style mobile broadcast reception module to develop should. This paper is to design the software modules in the broadcasting module embedded systems that are applied on the Android platform, broadcasting from mobile handsets to see.

  • 최근 스마트폰의 서비스 활성화를 기반으로 모바일 어플리케이션에 대한 활용도가 높아지고 있다. 어플리케이션 다운로드 건수가 45억 건을 넘을 것이라는 전망과 함께 사용자들이 적극적으로 어플리케이션을 소비함과 동시에 제작 환경에 뛰어들고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 모바일 어플리케이션에 있어 국가별 선호차가 있는지를 분석하고 그러한 선호 차이가 갖는 의미를 도출하여 향후 어플리케이션 제작을 하려는 개발자들과 서비스 제공자들에게 유용한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 첫째, 모바일 어플리케이션의 분류 체계를 수립하고 둘째, 한국과 미국을 대상으로 유료, 무료 어플리케이션의 상위 다운로드 어플리케이션을 분석하였다. 국가별 어플리케이션 다운로드 분포 비율을 분류 체계에 적용하여 한국과 미국의 어플리케이션에 대한 선호 차이를 제시하였다. 마지막으로 유형별 문화 차원 점수를 적용하여 모바일 어플리케이션에서의 국가별 문화 차원 지수를 도출하였다.

The Impact of user behavior, contents, functionality, cost on the continued use intention of the N-screen service users (N스크린 서비스의 이용행태, 콘텐츠, 기능, 비용이 이용자의 지속이용의사에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 N스크린 서비스의 이용행태(교차이용, 개인별 단말기 보유량, N스크린 이용을 위한 지불금액, N스크린 이용시간), 콘텐츠 특성(채널의 다양성, VOD의 다양성), 기능적 요인(시스템품질, 인터페이스, 결제시스템), 비용에 대한 이용자의 인식이 이용만족도와 지속이용의사에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. N스크린 유료 경험이 있는 이용자를 대상으로 (N=498), 웹을 통한 설문조사를 한 결과, 이용만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 기능적 요인 중 인터페이스로 나타났으며, 결제시스템, VOD의 다양성, 채널의 다양성, 비용 순으로 유의하게 나타났다. 본 연구는 이용자 차원에서 서비스 만족에 영향을 주는 요인들을 밝혀냄으로써, N스크린과 스마트TV의 활성화를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 의의가 있다.

  • An authenticated group key agreement protocol allows a group of parties communicating over an insecure network to share a common secret key. In this paper, we show that Zhou et al.'s ID-based authenticated group key agreement schemes do not provide forward secrecy.

  • 최근 1인 미디어의 확장과 맞물려 개인 차원에서의 영상편집이 활성화되고 있다. 인기 영상강의를 위주로 초보자들도 쉽게 접근할 수 있으나 여전히 많은 사람들이 영상제작을 어려워하고 있다. 특히 밝기, 대비 및 색 보정에서 어려움을 많이 겪는다. 전문적인 영상편집 툴의 경우 자동 보정 기능을 제공하고 있으나 파이널 컷의 경우 Apple 사의 맥 디바이스 환경을 구축해야 하는 문제, Adobe사 프로그램의 경우 완전 자동 기능 부재 및 무거운 연산처리 과정 및 유료화로 인한 접근성 저하, 기타 프로그램들의 경우 설치 접근성이 낮다는 단점이 있었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 클라우드 기반의 쉽고 빠른, 접근성을 높인 자동 영상보정 서비스를 제시하려 한다. 최종 단계의 클라우드 서비스에서는 흔들림 보정, 색 보정, 대비 보정, 명암 보정의 향상 기능과 컷 단위 인식, 신단위 인식, 객체 단위 인식의 서비스를 제공해야 한다는 결론에 도출하였다. 본 논문에서는 연구의 시작으로 클라우드 서비스 구축 및 OpenCV를 활용하여 프레임 별 영상 향상 알고리즘 구현을 시행하였다.

Viewing Pattern of IPTV Subscribers (IPTV 수용자의 프로그램 시청 행태)

  • Hana TV and Mega TV have been growing rapidly with IP-VOD service. The number of subscribers of both of them were 1.4 million in April 2008. Additionally, the change of viewing patterns of IPTV subscribers was predicted. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to see how the subscribers use IP-VOD service practically. For this research, the frequency, the time and the duration of connection by genre have been analyzed on the March of 2007 and 2008. According to the result, there was a significant change quantitatively: within a year, not only the number of subscribers has doubled, but also the frequency of monthly connection has been increased 15 times. In addition, the duration of viewing per person has quadrupled. Regarding to the contents, the subscribers still prefer to watch free TV programs. However, the viewers have their own way of consuming TV programs. It has been proved that IPTV is a complementary media of free TV with a strong possibility to change the viewing patterns in the near future.

Effect of the VOD Holdback Strategy Change on IPTV and Cable TV VOD Usage (VOD 홀드백 정책 변화가 IPTV와 케이블TV VOD 이용에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines the effect of changes in the content distribution strategy on VOD usage by comparing the VOD usage pattern following the changes in the IPTV and Digital Cable SVOD holdback policy. The result of this study shows that after changing the SVOD holdback from one week to three weeks, the VOD usage decreased up to 50 percent while paid VOD revenue increased as a result of the rise in PPM. The time series analysis shows statistical decrease in the number of SVOD usage, SVOD usage per user, and PPV revenue per user while VOD revenue per user increased significantly. Moreover, SVOD usage within the drama genres such as mini-series, weekend series, weekend special series, and sitcom decreased significantly. This research provides a case study on the effect of the broadcaster's content distribution policy on the VOD user behavior thus proposing broadcasters and platform operators the ways of establishing distribution strategy as well as invigorating the VOD usage.
