Changes of Indicative Substances According to Heat Treatment of Milk (우유의 가열처리에 따른 지표물질의 변화)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the physicochemical properties of bovine milks, which were heated with LTLT, HTST, UHT pasteurization and UHT sterilization methods and to compare the heat intensity among the heating methods and samples. The mean HMF values per liter milk were measured as 0.66~1.62 $\mu$M (LTLT), 0.9~1.78$\mu$M (HTST), 3.53$\mu$M(UHT pasteurized) and 7.43~8.97$\mu$M (UHT sterilized) in samples, re- sportively. The available Iysine contents per 100ml milk showed 293.2 mg (Raw), 289.2~291.2 mg (LTLT), 298.4~292.4mg (HTST), 272.4~261.6mg (UHT pasteurized) and 279.0mg (UHT sterilized), respectively. The rates of whey protein denaturation were 9.5~11.4% (LTLT), 9.5~17.1% (HTST), 89.3~95% (UHT pas-tsterilized) and 62.7% (UHT sterilized), respectively. The contents of SH groups per g protein were determined as 2.86$\mu$M (Raw) and 2.95~3.15$\mu$M (LTLT), 3.08~3.18$\mu$M (HTST), 3.26~3.42$\mu$M (UHT Pasteurized) and 3. 36$\mu$M (UHT sterilized), respectively, The SS groups Contents per g protein were 28.93$\mu$M (Raw), 25.72~26. 51 $\mu$M (LTLT), 26.93~26.79$\mu$M (HTST), 23.65~23.04 $\mu$M (UHT pasteurized) and 24.69$\mu$M (UHT sterilized), respectively. The ascorbic acid contents per liter milk were measured 6.05mg (Raw), 1.47~1.65mg (LTLT), 2.50~3.85mg (HTST), 2.87~3.69mg (UHT pasteurized) and 4.50mg (UHT sterilized). The changes of some in-dices in milk samples depend on the heating temperature and time ; the HMF values, SH groups, whey protein denaturation rates increased, while the available lysine contents and SS groups decreased in LTLT, HTST, UHT pasteurized and UHT sterilized milks. No remarkable differences were found in heating indicators between LTLT and UHT milks.

  • This research was performed to observe the effect on aggregation of rat platelet treated with ginkgo and perilla oil which contain much linolenic acid. The numbers of platelet treated with ginkgo and perilla oil were $2.7{\times}10^{8}/m{\ell}\;and\;4.7{\times}10^{8}/m{\ell}$, respectively. These numbers were much less than control group(this group was $7.5{\times}10^{8}/m{\ell}$). The ability of platelet aggregation treated with Perilla oil and ginkgo oil was 1.4 folds less than control group. Concentrations of total cholesterol and free fatty acid in serum of rat treated with ginkgo and perilla oil group were almost equal to those of control group. group.

  • Unlike an international combustion engine car, a battery-powered electric vehicle requires an additional heat source for its heating system. A high-voltage coolant heater has the advantages of high efficiency and a wide operating temperature range. In its development, the geometry design of the coolant flow path is essential. This paper presents the thermal flow simulations of a 7kW high-voltage heater with symmetric serpentine flow channels arranged parallelly. The heater performance was evaluated from the simulation results in terms of the pressure and temperature differences and the flow uniformity. The proposed design showed a greater flow resistance and similar heat exchanging capability than the existing parallel serpentine design. It has the advantage of a relatively wide low-temperature surface area, where the control circuit board susceptible to high temperatures can be located.

Biodegradation of Cutting Oil by Pseudomonas aeruginosa KS47 (Pseudomonas aeruginosa KS47에 의한 절삭유의 생물학적 분해)

  • Cutting oils are emulsionable fluids widely used in metal working processes. Their composition is mineral oil, water, and additives (fatty acids, surfactants, biocides, etc.) generating a toxic waste after a long use. Cutting oils also affect colour, taste and odour of water, making it undesirable for domestic and industrial uses. In these days, conventional treatment methods as evaporation, membrane separation or chemical separation have major disadvantages since they generate a concentrated stream that is more harmful than the original waste. In this study, our purpose is to reduce cutting oils by using biological treatment. Eighty one strains were isolated from cutting waste oil of industrial waste water sludge under aerobic conditions. Among these strains, KS47, which removed 90.4% cutting oil in 48 hr, was obtained by screening test under aerobic conditions(pH 7, $28^{\circ}C$). KS47 was identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa according to morphological, physiological and biochemical properties, 16S rDNA sequence, and fatty acid analysis. P. aeruginosa KS47 could utilize cutting oil as carbon source. In batch test, we obtained optimal degradation conditions(1.5 g/L cell concentration, pH 7, and temperature $30^{\circ}C$). Under the optimal conditions, 1,060 mg/L cutting oil was removed 83.7% (74.1 mg/L/hr).

  • A design study on the cooling channel configuration in a regeneratively cooled supersonic combustor was performed. The flow parameters on the hot- and cold-side channels were calculated using a quasi-one-dimensional model. The heat transfer between these two sides was estimated as a part of the flow calculation. For the reference configuration, the total amount of heat exchanged was 10.7 kW, the heat flux was $566kW/m^2$, and the fuel temperature increase between the inlet and outlet was 153 K. Seven designs of the heat exchanger channel were compared for their heat transfer performance.

  • 본 보에서는 지난호(윤활학회지 Vol.5, No.2 1989. 10)에 이어 synlube 중 ester oil의 제조 및 합성유와 광유와의 물성 비교 결과를 요약하여 기술하였다. 천연 ester oil인 동,식물유가 윤활유로 사용된 역사는 기원전 1600년경 부터이다. 그러나 ester계 합성유는 저온성상 및 윤활성을 향상시킬 목적으로 2차대전 중 독일과 미국에서 연구를 시작하여 1947년 영국에서 diester oil을 turbo-prop 엔진으로 사용하기 시작하였다.

  • 본 고에서는 유헬스를 구현하기 위한 다양한 형태의 생체 정보 모니터링 기술의 국내외 연구개발 동향에 대하여 알아보고, 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI) u-헬스연구팀에서 진행되고 있는 생체정보 모니터링 기술의 연구개발 내용에 대하여 소개하고자 한다. 또한, 유헬스 표준화 동향에 대하여 알아보고 유헬스의 전망과 기대효과를 설명하고자 한다.

A Study on the Cosmetic Preservative Effects of Cornus officinalis seed Extracts (산수유 종자 추출물의 화장품 방부효능에 관한 연구)

  • To evaluate the possibility as a natural preservative of Cornus officinalis seed extracts, we investigated the anti-microbial activity and preservation effect of cosmetics. Cornus officinalis seed extracted with 1,3-Butylene Glycol(1,3-BG) and Ethanol(EtOH). As a result, Cornus officinalis seed extracts showed anti-microbial activity at Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium acnes and Cornus officinalis seed 1,3-BG extracts(COS-A) showed $26.7{\pm}4.0mm$ clear zone at the $1000.0{\mu}l/ml$. Minimum inhibitory concentration of S. epidermidis was observed at Cornus officinalis seed EtOH extracts(COS-B) $25.0{\mu}l/ml$. The result of challenge test for preservation effect on cosmetics, S. aureus and S. epidermidis was 100% eliminated from emulsion containing COS-A and COS-B after 7 days. These results suggest that Cornus officinalis seed extracts may have possibility as the natural preservative instead of synthetic perservative on cosmetics.

Effect of Silicone Oil on Properties of Cooking Oils for Pork Cutlet Frying (돼지고기 튀김조리시(調理時) Silicone oil 첨가(添加)가 튀김기름의 성질(性質)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In this study, silicone oil was added into soybean oil in order to investigate its effect on acid value (AV), carbonyl value (COV), TBA value, fatty acid composition and color intensity of soybean oil during frying at $170^{\circ}C$. It was found that the AV, COV and TBA value were significantly decreased as the concentration of silicone oil increased from 0 to 5 ppm in soybean oil after frying for 7 hours. The color intensity was also decreased by 26% of color of 7 hours-heated soybean oil without silicone oil addition. Little changes in fatty arid composition was measured between the samples after 7 hours frying. From the overall result of this study, addition of silicone oil by 1 ppm was recommended for effective reduction of rancidity development of soybean oil ing frying.
