Real-time Discharge Measurement of the River Using Fixed-type Surface Image Velocimetry (고정식 표면영상유속계 (FSIV)를 이용한 실시간 하천 유량 산정)

  • Surface Image Velocimetry (SIV) is a recently-developed discharge measurement instrument. It uses image processing techniques to measure the water surface velocity and estimate water discharge with given cross section. The present study aims to implement a FSIV (Fixed-type Surface Image Velocimetry) at Soojeon Bridge in the Dalcheon. The hardware system consists of two digital cameras, a computer, and a pressure-type water stage gauge. The images taken with the hardware system are sent to a server computer via a wireless internet, and analyzed with a image processing software (SIV software). The estimated discharges were compared with the observed discharges through Goesan dam spillway and index velocity method using ADVM. The computed results showed a good agreement with the observed one, except for the night time. The results compared with discharges through Goesan dam spillway reached around 5~10% in the case of discharge over 30 m3/s, and the results compared with discharges through index velocity method using ADVM reached around 5% in the case of discharge over 200 $m^3/s$. Considering the low cost of the system and the visual inspection of the site situation with the images, the SIV would be fairly good way to measure water discharge in real time.

Development of a Computer Vision System to Measure Low Flow Rate of Solid Particles (컴퓨터 시각에 의한 고형 입자의 소량 유동율 측정장치 개발)

  • A computer vision system to measure low flow rate of solid particles was developed and tested to examine its performance with various sized 7 kinds of seeds, perilla, mung bean, paddy, small red bean, black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber. The test was performed for two types of particle flow, continuous and discontinuous. For the continuous flow tested with perilla, mung bean and paddy, the tests resulted correlation coefficients for the flow rates measured by the computer vision and direct method about 0.98. Average errors of the computer vision measurement were in a range of 6∼9%. For the discontinuous flow tested with small red bean, black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber, the tests resulted correlation coefficients for the flow rates measured by the computer vision and direct method 0.98∼0.99. Average errors of the computer vision measurement were in a range of 5∼10%. Performance of the computer vision system was compared with that of the conventional optical sensor to count particles in discontinuous flow. The comparison was done with black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber, and resulted that the computer vision has much better performance than the optical sensor in a sense of precision of the measurement.

  • Nitrous oxide, one of the six greenhouse gases from Kyoto protocol, is known to be emitted in biological nitrification and denitrification reactions at wastewater treatment plant. In this study, EQPS which is a computer program that can simulate nitrous oxide gas emission amount at wastewater treatment plants is used. The MLE process which treats wastewater from combined sewer is studied. Operational variables which are MLR, water temperature at reactor and primary clarifier by-pass percentage are changed to define the condition which produces the least amount of nitrous oxide gas. 200 % of MLR, 20 ℃ of water temperature at bioreactor and 15 % of primary clarifier by-pass percentage are shown the least nitrous oxide emission factor. Also, it is found that the deep aeration tank produces less amount of nitrous oxide gas since less air is required to meet oxygen demand in this type of aeration tank.

Development of Google Map-based USGS HYSEP and Application (Web 기반 USGS HYSEP 기저유출 분리 시스템 개발과 평가)

  • 최근 들어 유역의 정확한 수문현상을 파악하기 위하여 유역의 유출량 자료를 직접 유출과 기저유출로 분리한 후 수문 모형의 직접유출 및 기저유출의 수문컴포넌트 검증에 활용하는 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 미국 국립지리국 (USGS) 에서 개발한 HYSEP 모형이 지난 수 년 동안 유출 컴포넌트 분리에 널리 이용되어 오고 있다. 그러나 USGS 기반의 HYSEP의 경우 능숙한 컴퓨터 사용자가 아닌 비전문가들이 HYSEP을 운영하기에는 여러 가지 많은 제한점이 있어 왔다. 그리하여 본 연구에서는 고해상도 위성영상 Google Map 기반의 기저유출분리 프로그램인 Web-based HYSEP 인터페이스를 개발하였다. 이 시스템에는 HYSEP에서 제공하는 3가지 방법인 Fixed Interval / Sliding Interval / Local Minimum 방법이 제공되고 있다. 본 연구에서 개발된 Google Map 기반의 HYSEP 시스템은 USGS 유량 관측지점들에 대해 XML 데이터 포맷으로 DB를 구축하여 Google Map 과 연계하였으며 이를 통해 사용자가 원하는 관측소의 실시간 유량자료를 다운로드 할 수 있도록 개발되어졌다. Google Map 기반의 HYSEP 기저유출 분리 시스템(http://www.EnvSys.co.kr/${\sim}$hysep)은 Perl/CGI 및 자바스크립트, Google Map script 등을 이용하여 개발되었다. 현재 개발된 Google Map 기반의 USGS HYSEP 시스템은 한 곳의 유량관측지점에 대해서 총 3가지 기저유출 모듈을 적용하여 결과를 제공하고 있으며, 그 결과를 테이블이나 그래프 형태로 제공하도록 되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 Google Map 기반의 USGS HYSEP 시스템을 이용하여 미국 인디애나 주의 Little Eagle Creek 유역의 유량자료와 Fixed Interval / Sliding Interval / Local Minimum 방법을 이용하여 기저유출을 분리하였으며, 기존에 널리 활용되는 기저유출 분리 프로그램인 Web 기반의 WHAT 시스템 (http://www.EnvSys.co.k.r/~what) 산정 기저유출량과 비교분석하였다. 분석결과 HYSEP 예측 기저유출치가 전반적으로 WHAT 예측치보다 크게 산정되었다. WHAT 시스템과 본 연구에서 개발한 Web 기반의 HYSEP 일단위 기저유출량을 비교해 본 결과 $R^{2}$가 0.56, EI는 0.52로 어느 정도 비슷한 경향을 나타냈으나, 유역의 특성을 반영하는 WHAT 시스템과는 달리 주어진 유량자료만을 이용하여 기저유출을 분리하는 Web 기반의 HYSEP 기저유출 분리모듈을 개선할 필요가 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Development of Integrated drone measurement system for Flood discharge measurement (홍수기 유량측정을 위한 통합 드론측정시스템 개발)

  • 홍수기 하천에서 유량측정은 예산, 인력, 안전 및 측정 시 편의성 등의 이유로 측정에 제한이 많다. 특히, 태풍 등으로 인한 호우사상 발생 시 위와 같은 문제로 홍수량 측정에 어려움이 따른다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해 Lee et al.(2021)은 드론과 전자파표면유속계의 기능을 융합한 DSVM(Dron and Surface Veloctity Meter using doppler radar) 측정방법을 개발하였다. 전자파표면유속계 측정의 제한 요소인 진동을 감소시키기 위해 댐퍼플레이트를 개발하였고 금강의 지류인 봉황천에 현장 적용을 통해 DSVM 측정방법의 실용성을 확인하였다. 기존 연구에서 DSVM 방법은 드론의 각 측선 이동을 위한 조종과 전자파표면유속계 측정의 제어를 측정자가 수행하였는데 본 연구에서는 통합 드론측정시스템(IDMS, Integrated Drone Measurement System) 개발을 통해 측정자의 조종 의존도를 줄임과 동시에 안전하고 정확한 유량측정을 위해 노력하였다. 기존 댐퍼플레이트의 상하 진동 흡수 기능뿐만 아니라 전자파표면유속계의 흔들림 현상 등 자세 제어 기능을 보완하기 3축 모터를 적용한 방수짐벌을 개발하여 측정 정확도를 향상시켰다. 미션컴퓨터 개발로 측정지점의 측정 임무정보를 DB화하여 각 측선별 헤딩, 고도, 이동 등 자동항법 기능과 기체의 안정화 이후 전자파표면유속계를 자동으로 제어하여 측정을 실시하는 기능을 구현하였다. 또한 통합 GCS(Ground Control System)를 통해 비행 및 측정에 대한 모든 정보를 확인하고 컨트롤 할 수 있게 하였다. 2022년 금산군(제원대교), 무주군(취수장), 경주시(서천교) 지점에서 홍수기 유량측정에 도입하여 중간단면적법, 지표유속법을 적용하여 통합드론측정시스템의 실용성을 검증 완료하였다. 2023년 현장에 18대의 통합 드론측정시스템을 도입하여 홍수기 유량측정에 활용할 계획이다.

Fuel Flow Control of Turbojet Engine Using the Fuzzy PI+D Controller (퍼지 PI+D 제어기를 이용한 터보제트 엔진의 연료유량 제어)

  • In this paper, Proposed controller prevent compressor surge and reduce the acceleration time of the fuel flow control system for turbo-jet engine. Turbo-jet engine controller is designed by applying fuzzy PI+D control algorithm and make an inference by applying Mamdani's inference method and the defuzzification using the center of gravity method. Fuzzy inference results are used as the fuel flow control inputs to prevent compressor surge and flame-out for turbo-jet engine and the controller is designed to converge to the desired speed quickly and safely. Using MATLAB to perform computer simulations verified the performance of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, we present FDNN algorithm to perform prediction based on academic understanding. In order to apply prediction based on academic understanding rather than data-dependent prediction to deep learning, we constructed algorithm based on mathematical and hydrology. We construct a model that predicts flow rate of a river as an input of precipitation, and measure the model's performance through K-fold cross validation.

  • Hydrological survey measurement technology has improved due to the introduction of high-tech equipment and advances in technology, but hydrological survey still requires a lot of manpower and time, and the manpower invested is very limited compared to the size and scope of work. In addition, although automatic flow measurement facilities are in operation, it is difficult to expand them nationwide due to limited field conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the operating infrastructure and environment rather than the measurement technology itself for hydrological investigation. In addition, in terms of flow investigation, it is necessary to schedule an investigation using real-time water level information in order to inventory the accuracy of the water-flow relationship equation and improve work efficiency. Therefore, in this paper, research related to domestic hydrological surveys was analyzed and a hydrological survey scheduling system using real- time water level information based on Open API was implemented to increase the economic and efficiency of hydrological surveys.

An Experimental Study on the Mixing Flow Structure of Turbulent Cross Flow with Respect to the Ratio of Mass Flow Rate (난류충돌유동의 질량유량비에 따른 혼합유동구조에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flow structure and mixing process of a cross mixing flow formed by two round jets with respect to the ratio of mass flow rate. This flow configuration is of great practical relevance in a variety of combustion systems, and the flow behaviour of a cross jet defends critically on the ratio of mass flow rate and the cross angle. The mass flow rate ratios of two different jets were controlled as 1.0, 0.8, 0.6, and 0.4, and the crossing angle of two round jets was fixed at 45 degree. The velocities issuing from jet nozzle with an exit diameter of 20mm were adjusted to 40m/s, 32m/s, 24m/s, and 16m/s, and the measurements have been conducted in the streamwise range of $1.1X_0$to $2.5X_0$ by an on-line measurement system consisted of a constant temperature type two channel hot-wire anemometry connected to a computer analyzing system. The original air flow was generated by a subsonic wind tunnel with reliable stabilities and uniform flows in the test section. For the analysis of the cross mixing flow structure in the downstream region after the cross point, the mean velocity profiles, the resultant velocity contours, and the three-dimensional profiles depending upon the mass flow rate ratio have been concentrately studied.

A Simulation to Find Rotation Efficiency according to the Draft Changes of Waterwheel in Open Rectangular Channel (사각형 개수로에서의 수차 흘수 변화에 따른 회전 효율 파악을 위한 시뮬레이션)

  • In this paper, simulations were carried out to determine the efficiency of the rotation efficiency according to the draft of waterwheel in open rectangular channel. In the small hydroelectric generators to get the highest efficiency of waterwheel is very important. But the presence of various elements(free water surface flow, non-uniform velocity distribution because of the waterways wall friction etc) makes it difficult to create a mathematical formula. In this paper, we made a scale model and perform a physical simulation where the draft, gradient and flux is variable. Scale modelling with 10-step draft, 3-step gradients and 2-step flux, as well were constructed then computerized automatic experimental system were configured to acquire the rotational efficiency vs. draft of itself. Rotational efficiency is analyzed as for the draft of waterwheel using the acquired data by varying the gradient and flux of canal. Reviewing the analyzed data, it is confirmed that phenomena of efficiency shown at previous and present experiment is similar and revealed that computerized system shows more sophisticated numerical figures.
