Effects of Organic Liquid Fertilizer Fertigation on Growth and Fruit Quality of Hot Pepper (유기액비 관비가 고추 생육 및 과실 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was carried out to evaluate the effects of organic liquid fertilizer (OLFs) fertigation on the growth and fruit quality of hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) cv. 'Nokkwang (Seminis Korea)'. Treatments were given with control (chemical feritilzer), OLF I(fowl dropping : fish meal : soybean meal, 2:1:1), OLF II(fowl dropping : bone meal : soybean meal, 2:1:1), OLF III(fowl dropping : bone meal, 1:1), and OLF IV(fowl dropping : rice bran : soybean meal, 2:1:1). The composition ratio of OLF based on weight to weight. The pH and EC of OLFs according to different material and compositions ranged from 6.5 to 6.8, and from 2.91 to $3.69dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$, respectively. The C/N ratio was the highest as 5.75 in OLF Ⅳ, and there was no difference among the treatments in C/N ratio of the exception of OLF IV. In OLF IV total fruit weight was the highest as 1,558g per plant and total fruit number increased as 23.7% compared to control. The content of capsaicin in the ripened pepper increased with OLF I and II treatments, and decreased with OLF III and IV treatments compared to control of $662mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$, but the soluble solid content was the highest with OLF IV treatment as $10.0^{\circ}Brix$.

Development of Organic liquid Fertilizer for leaf Vegetable under Greenhouse (하우스 엽채류를 위한 관비재배용 유기액비 개발)

  • This experiment was conducted to develop liquid fertilizer for leaf vegetable using the agricultural by-products such as dry chicken dropping, bone meal, rice bran, soybean oil cake and fish meal. Combination of 50% dry chicken dropping, 30% bone meal and 20% rice bran among several combinations of by-products was selected as materials for liquid fertilizer of head lettuce and cabbage. 50kg of materials with combination selected got mixed to 200ι of water, which kept under room temperature in greenhouse. EC and pH of fertilizer was stabilized after 35 days. On the decrease of bad smell during fermentation, addition of materials such as bioceramics, woody vinegar and active charcoal was not effected. And on rapid fermentation, addition of microorganisms and sugar had a little effect, but decreased the content of inorganic nutrients. Fertigation of liquid fertilizer developed on cabbage by dropping made head weight increased by 0.9kg per plant and nitrate content decreased by 276ppm in comparison with chemical fertilizer which was 3.5kg, and 2,426ppm, respectively. By use of organic liquid fertilizer developed in this experiment, yield of cabbage could be more obtained by 26% than in use of chemical fertilizer and income by 24%.

  • 국내외 환경문제와 관련하여 농업환경보전 및 안전한 먹거리에 대한 소비자의 요구가 커지면서 친환경농업에 대한 관심이 높이지고 있다. 친환경농업은 화학비료와 농약의 사용을 양분종합관리 및 병해충종합관리등을 통해 저투입하는 농법과 화학비료와 농약의 대체 농자재를 사용하는 유기농법으로 나누어져 있다. 대체 농자재는 목초액, 키토산 등 시판되는 자재를 비롯하여 천혜녹즙, 한방영양제, 아미노산액비 등과 같이 농가를 중심으로 자가 제조되어 활용되고 있는 것이 특징이다. 그러나 대부분 효능이 제대로 검증되지 않고 임의로 사용되고 있기 때문에 본 연구는 농가 자가제조 유기농액비의 미생물학적 특성을 구명하여 유기농 액비의 농업적 활용 제고를 위한 표준화를 확립하기 위해 수행하였다. 농가자가 제조 유기농액비는 성환과 제주에서 5점을 수집하여 액비의 화학성과 미생물상을 비교하였다. 액비 제조시 종균으로 사용되고 있는 부엽토를 5지역에서 채취하여 세균군집의 차이를 보기위해 denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE)를 수행하여 분석하였다. 주요 결과를 요약하면 수집된 액비의 화학성 분석결과, pH는 3.3~4.3로 강한 산성을 나타났으며 EC는 $32.8dS{\cdot}m^{-1}{\sim}552.33dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ 이었다. 수집된 액비내 미생물상을 조사한 결과, 세균과 방선균은 존재하였지만 사상균은 검출되지 않았다 또한 성환에서 수집된 액비로부터 세균을 분리하여 16S rRNA 염기서열을 분석한 결과, 대부분 Bacillus속으로 95%이상의 높은 유사성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 액비 발효 시 종균으로 사용되고 있는 부엽토의 미생물상을 조사한 결과, 지역에 따라 세균은 0.8~$110{\times}10^5cfu{\cdot}g^{-1}$, 방선균은 1.0~$10.9{\times}10^4cfu{\cdot}g^{-1}$, 그리고 사상균은 2.6~$64{\times}10^3cfu{\cdot}g^{-1}$의 균수를 보였다. 부엽토간의 세균군집의 차이를 비교하기 위해 DGGE를 수행한 결과, gel 상에서 다양한 위치의 밴드를 확인할 수 있으며, 부엽토별로 공통적 및 특이적 밴드를 확인할 수 있었다.

Effect of Liquid Fertilizer Application using Fish-meal, Bone-meal and Sesame oil-cake on Seed Germination and Growth of Tomato (어분, 골분 및 참깨박을 이용한 발효액비 제조에 따른 무 발아 및 토마토 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to investigate the physicochemical characteristics of fish meal, bone meal, and sesame oil cake, which are readily available by-products from agriculture and fisheries, during the process of liquid fertilizer fermentation, and to examine the effects of liquid fertilizer application on seed germination and growth of tomatoes. During processing the fermentation for liquid fertilizers by using fish meal, bone meal, and sesame oil cake liquid fertilizers, the pH of the fertilizer increased in the order of bone meal > fish meal > sesame oil cake, and the concentration increased rapidly up to 30 days in all types of liquid fertilizer. The nitrogen content of the liquid fertilizers increased as fermentation progressed in the order of fish meal > bone meal > sesame oil cake. The phosphorus content increased as fermentation progressed and the highest was 1.0 % in the liquid fertilizer of sesame oil cake. The germination rate and its index of radish seeds were compared for different dilutions of each of the liquid fertilizers. Excluding the 10-fold dilution of the fish meal and oil cake liquid fertilizer, all the treatment groups showed a germination rate ≥ 95 % and the germination index tended to increase with dilution rate of liquid fertilizers. For responses of tomato growth, there were no significant differences among the liquid fertilizer treatment groups; however, the organic content, microbial density, and microbial biomass C in the soil were higher than chemical fertilizer treatment. These results demonstrated that there were differences in the characteristics of liquid fertilizers depending on the materials used, and that liquid fertilizer can be used for nutrition management for the organic crop cultivation.

Effects of Compost Leachate and Concentrated Slurry on the Growth and Yield of Tomato(Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) in Hydroponic Culture (퇴비단 여과액비와 농축액비를 이용한 양액재배가 토마토(Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.)의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of compost leachate and concentrated slurry on growth of tomato in hydroponic culture. In process of composting, compost leachate was produced water was through a saturated compost heap. The concentrated slurry was produced by filtration and concentration by membrane process. Filtration of pig slurry was necessary to prevent the hose clogging in hydroponics culture. The treatments of this experiment were consisted of seven different liquid fertilizers; compost leachate(CL), concentrated pig slurry (CS), compost leachate+byproduct(CL+BP), concentrated pig slurry+byproduct(CS+BP), compost leachate 50%+nutrient solution50%(CL+NS), concentrated pig slurry 50%+nutrient solution50%(CS+NS) and nutrient solution(NS) for tomato based on nitrogen content. The chemical nutrient solution was the solution of National Horticulture Research Station for the growth of tomato. The concentration of nutrient solution was adjusted a range of $1.6{\sim}2.0 mS/cm$ in EC. 1. The compost leachate and concentrated pig slurry were low in phosphorus(P), calcium(Ca), magnesium(Mg), but rich in potassium(K). 2. Plant height, SPAD value of tomato was highest in the plot of CS+NS, intermediate in CL, CS+BP, and lowest in 100% concentrated pig slurry. 3. The tomato yield of compost leachate plot was 91% compared with inorganic nutrient solution. The compost leachate solution could be used as a nutrition solution of tomato in organic hydroponics. 4. The growth including plant height, SPAD value, fruit number, fruit weight and yield of tomato in the CL 50%+NS 50% was similar in the control. In conclusion, the mixture solution of 50% pig slurry and 50% nutrient solution could be used as a nutrition solution of tomato hydroponic culture.

Evaluation of Tomato Growth-promoting Effect and Mineral Nutrient of Farm-made Liquid Fertilizers (농가 자가제조 유기액비의 토마토 생육 촉진 효과 및 무기영양소 평가)

  • This study was carried out in order to evaluate the growth promotion effects on tomato crops and to assess the mineral nutrient concentrations of farm-made liquid fertilizers used in organic cultivation in South Korea. We hope that this study will help to develop of a standardized manufacturing technique for these organic liquid fertilizers. We collected 62 farm-made liquid fertilizers made from various raw materials including fish, seaweed, food scraps, plant and crop by-products, and other materials. Two groups of tomato seedlings were treated at different times, one at 20 days and the other at 40 days after sowing. We used both foliar and soil applications. These seedlings were treated using liquid fertilizers at various dilution rates (x1000, x500 and x100). When foliar application was used, seedlings after 20 days had a 20-30% increase in shoot fresh weight with 47-48 fertilizers and seedlings after 40 days had a 20-30% increase in shoot fresh weight with 17-32 fertilizers. When soil application was used, seedlings after 20 days had the same increase in shoot fresh weight with 30-31 fertilizers and seedlings after 40 days also saw the same increase with 6-7 fertilizers. Therefore, our studies showed that application of liquid fertilizers to seedlings 20 days after sowing was most effective and that foliar treatment was more effective than soil treatments. We also observed that the higher the concentrations of fertilizer, particularly when applied twice rather than just once, the higher the rates of growth, which promoted shoot fresh weight more than plant height. Our results imply that mineral nutrients in liquid fertilizers seem to be the probable cause for the growth promotion observed in this study. However, more study is required to determine exactly which mineral nutrients are most effective.

Changes in Chemical Properties and Microbial Population of Farm-Made Organic Liquid Fertilizer during Fermenting Process (농가 자가제조 액비의 발효과정 중 이화학성 및 미생물상 변화)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the changes in physicochemical and microbiological properties during fermenting process of farm-made organic liquid fertilizer made of the mixture of organic materials such as blood meal and molasse during fermenting process. The pH level of organic liquid fertilizer during the ermentation decreased from 7.2 to 4.3. The EC of organic liquid fertilizer was increased from 13.9 dS/m to 99.3 dS/m during the fermentation. The total population of aerobic bacteria decreased from $8.2{\times}10^5$ cfu/ml to $3{\times}10^4$ cfu/ml, but Bacillus spp. increased from $2.1{\times}10^2$ cfu/ml to $4.2{\times}10^3$ cfu/ml during the fermentation. Bacterial isolates were obtained from organic liquid fertilizers and identified by fatty acid-base typing. The Genus Bacillus was dominant as fermenting proceeded. The denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) profile showed changes of bacterial communities in organic liquid fertilizers.

Effects of Mixture Application of Concentrated Pig Slurry and Byproduct Liquid Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Chinese Cabbage (돈분뇨 농축액비와 부산물액비 혼합시용이 배추의 생육과 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of concentrated pig slurry and byproduct liquid fertilizer on the growth and yield of chinese cabbage. The experiment was conducted in a rain-shelter house which was installed in the agriculture farm. Plants were fertilized with concentrated slurry (CS), byproduct fertilizer (BF), mixture of concentrated slurry and byproduct liquid fertilizer (CS+BF), combined organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+BF) and chemical fertilizer (CF) as control. 1. The pH level of byproduct liquid was decreased from the 3rd to the 7th day and increased 9 day to 14th day, but pH of concentrated slurry (CS) was not greatly varied. EC of concentrated slurry (CS) and byproduct liquid was increased gradually during the fermentation. 2. The concentrated slurry (CS) was low in phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, rich in potassium and unbalanced as a low nitrogen and high potassium. But byproduct liquid fertilizer was balanced in nitrogen and potassium ratio. 3. The leaf number, head height, head width of chinese cabbage in treatment with organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) showed significant difference compared with control. The plant and head weight of chinese cabbage in treatment of concentrated slurry was severely decreased, but that in treatment organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) were increased 8, 10% compared with control chemical fertilizer (CF), respectively. 4. The content of $K_2O$ in plant tissue and in soil was increased after using concentrated slurry. On the other hand, mineral content of except $K_2O$ did not differ significantly between any of the treatments. In conclusion, organic and chemical fertilizer (CS+BF+N) could improve growth and head weight of chinese cabbage.

Change of Characteristics during Organic Liquid Fertilizer Processing using Ascidian Tunic (우렁쉥이 껍질을 이용한 유기 액비 제조시 발효액의 특성 변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the organic liquid fertilizer and find out optimum fermentation conditions of Effective Microorganisms (EM) including ascidian tunic. During the EM fermentation by adding ascidian tunic, electrical conductivity (EC) was increased, contrast to decrease the pH value, on related to the initial dosage molasses rate. Additionally, the total nitrogen quantity was shown to be increased on EM fermentation and the most effective increasing was recorded up to 220% on more than 15% molasses dosage condition. The phosphorus quantity was to be maximum rate on 21th of EM fermentation, and other contents, such to potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, had be shown an increasing patten during the fermentation period. After the EM fermentation, the concentration of hazardous material (Zn, As, Cd, Cu, Cr, Hg, Ni, pb) was measured below than the official criteria for commercial fertilizer. As a effective material in fermentated fertilizer, the 29 kinds free amino acids were detected and their total concentration was measured to 7080.94 mg/L.
