Estimating a Range of Lane Departure Allowance based on Road Alignment in an Autonomous Driving Vehicle (자율주행 차량의 도로 평면선형 기반 차로이탈 허용 범위 산정)

  • As an autonomous driving vehicle (AV) need to cope with external road conditions by itself, its perception performance for road environment should be better than that of a human driver. A vision sensor, one of AV sensors, performs lane detection function to percept road environment for performing safe vehicle steering, which relates to define vehicle heading and lane departure prevention. Performance standards for a vision sensor in an ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) focus on the function of 'driver assistance', not on the perception of 'independent situation'. So the performance requirements for a vision sensor in AV may different from those in an ADAS. In assuming that an AV keep previous steering due to lane detection failure, this study calculated lane departure distances between the AV location following curved road alignment and the other one driving to the straight in a curved section. We analysed lane departure distance and time with respect to the allowance of lane detection malfunction of an AV vision sensor. With the results, we found that an AV would encounter a critical lane departure situation if a vision sensor loses lane detection over 1 second. Therefore, it is concluded that the performance standards for an AV should contain more severe lane departure situations than those of an ADAS.

  • 'Vision Zero' is a fundamental response to rapidly increasing number of traffic accidents. It was first introduced in Sweden in the late 20th century and is spreading worldwide. 'Vision Zero' criticizes an existing traffic safety policy that presupposes a reasonable human beings. It suggests that traffic safety policies should be on the possibility of making mistakes by irrational beings. Under the ethical vision that human life and health cannot be exchanged for any other social benefits, the policy issue should allow to make zero out the death rate and serious injuries of traffic accidents while allowing minor injuries. 'Vision Zero' argues that the government should design an environment in which individual mistakes never lead to fatal accidents. 'Vision Zero', which shows a different perspective from existing policies regarding safety ultimate goal, is spreading from traffic safety to other areas such as health, safety and well-being. This study examines the implication of the Korea's school safety policy from the perspectives of 'Vision Zero' on the five areas : "for what", "from what", "by what", "by whom", and "how". The study is intended to establish a new directions and challenges of school safety policy in Korea through an analytical discussions on 'Vision Zero'.

An Influence of Academic Stress on the Life-Style Behaviors and Mental Health of Junior High School Students (중학생의 학업스트레스 정도에 따른 건강관련 생활습관 및 정신건강 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of academic stress levels on life-style behaviors and mental health among the junior high school students in Korea. A convenient sample drawn from the 842 students from 8 junior high schools in Seoul and Kyunggi-Do area was investigated with a survey instrument. Female students showed higher academic stress levels compared to male students, especially in terms of the stress related to teachers, class time, and peer relationships. For the male students, higher stress levels were related to the higher risk factors of smoking, drinking and inhaling drug abuse. Students who had higher academic stress levels spent more time in using computer and playing digital games compared to those who had lower academic stress. In addition, higher academic stress levels were significantly related to risk of mental health, especially depression. These results suggest the urgent needs of preventive or educational program to support students with academic stress resolve in healthy manners such as playing sports or music or club activities.

  • That occur in the ocean and the efficient management of marine litter on marine pollution oil spill response one step further strategies are needed. Marine pollution accidents occurred in 2011, a total of 287 and was found in runoff 369 kL, respectively compared to the previous year decreased by 13% and 39%. Average amount of marine materials during 5-years represent the oil flow of 310.5 kL (heavy fuel oil of 106.0 kL, diesel of 178.9 kL, oily bilge water of 22.3 kL, other oil of 7.7 kL) and the waste of 62.3 tons, the hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) was 510.6 kL. Marine emissions in 2011 by type of waste that a total amount of dumping 3,972 $m^3$, and livestock manure 795 $m^3$(20%), waste water 1,431 $m^3$(36%), sewage sludge 887 $m^3$(22%), wastewater sludge, 813 $m^3$(21%), manure 5 $m^3$(0.1%), other 41 $m^3$(0.9%), respectively. The concept of marine waste and needs to be more clearly defined. Integrated management of hazardous chemicals according to the incident management system should be established. To remove of coastal pollution, response officer needs korean coast response system. Like the marine pollution response, coastal pollution response systems also require step response.

  • 이상호우, 사막화, 빙하융해, 생태계 먹이사슬 변화, 이상기온 등 기후변화의 행태는 지구 곳곳에서 다양하게 발발되고 있으며 그로인해 발생되는 인적 물적 피해가 심각하다. 1996년 집중호우에 의한 연천댐체 파괴, 2002년 8월의 낙동강 유역 장기홍수, 2002년 태풍 루사 및 2003년 태풍 매미 등 국내에서는 기후변화 중에서도 주로 이상호우로 인해 발생하는 피해가 많았으며 이들은 주기성이나 특성을 갖지 않아 예측이 어려운 관계로 망양보뢰 식의 후처리에 급급한 실정이었다. 최근 기후변화에 따른 지역별 홍수량, 가뭄량 등에 관한 연구가 가속화되고 있으며, 이와 더불어 해당 기후모델 발현 시 기존 구조물에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구도 필수적이다. 나아가 기존 구조물 뿐 아니라 새로 시공되는 구조물의 설계에서 기후변화에 대한 안정성을 위해 추가적으로 포함해야 할 요소가 있는지에 대한 연구도 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 가상 기후모델에 대해 그 모델이 예측하는 홍수량이 실제 발현되었을 경우를 가정하여, 기존 수공구조물의 안정성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 영향인자의 민감도를 분석하고자 한다. 대상 수공구조물은 붕괴 시 영향력이 큰 정도를 기준으로 필댐, 콘크리트차수벽형석괴댐(CFRD), 콘크리트중력식댐, 제방으로 그 범주를 제한 하였으며 대상유역은 한강으로 가정하였다. 구조물의 안정성 검토방법은 각 구조물의 종류에 따라 상이하다. 흙이 주 재료인 제방과 필댐의 경우, 침투(Piping)와 비탈면(Sliding)에 대한 안정성 평가가 이루어지며 CFRD는 댐체와 벽체로 나누어 안정성평가를 하며 댐체 안정성 평가방법은 필댐과 유사하다. 본 연구에서는 하천설계기준(2009)과 댐설계기준(2005)에 따라 각 구조물의 기준안전율을 책정하였으며 점착력, 내부마찰각, 단위중량 등의 물성치는 해당 지역의 토질특성에 따라 여러 문헌을 참고하여 설정하였고 이를 SEEP/W, SLOPE/W 프로그램을 이용하여 구조해석을 실시하였다. 콘크리트중력식댐은 활동, 전도, 지지력에 대해 각각 안정성을 평가하며 MIDAS와 ABAQUS 프로그램을 병행하여 해석하였다. 민감도(Sensitivity)란 안정성에 영향을 미치는 설계인자들의 변화에 따라 안정성이 어떻게 변화하는 지를 말한다. 기후변화에 의한 수공구조물 설계인자 민감도 연구를 통해 기존 설계과정 또는 안정성 검토 시 해당인자의 기여도를 높이거나 새로운 설계인자를 추가하여 미래 상황에 대한 구조물의 위험 정도를 과거대비 상세히 예측할 수 있으며 나아가 적절한 대응 방안 제시에 기여하여 기후변화에 따른 피해를 감소할 수 있을 것이라고 생각된다.

Personalized Service Recommendation for Mobile Edge Computing Environment (모바일 엣지 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 개인화 서비스 추천)

  • Mobile Edge Computing(MEC) is a emerging technology to cope with mobile traffic explosion and to provide a variety of services having specific requirements by means of running some functions at mobile edge nodes directly. For instance, caching function can be executed in order to offload mobile traffics, and safety services using real time video analytics can be delivered to users. So far, a myriad of methods and architectures for personalized service recommendation have been proposed, but there is no study on the subject which takes unique characteristics of mobile edge computing into account. To provide personalized services, acquiring users' context is of great significance. If the conventional personalized service model, which is server-side oriented, is applied to the mobile edge computing scheme, it may cause context isolation and privacy issues more severely. There are some advantages at mobile edge node with respect to context acquisition. Another notable characteristic at MEC scheme is that interaction between users and applications is very dynamic due to temporal relation. This paper proposes the local service recommendation platform architecture which encompasses these characteristics, and also discusses the personalized service recommendation mechanism to be able to mitigate context isolation problem and privacy issues.

  • Responding to the rapid delivery demands and variety of small-volume products through human resource-dependent logistics operations in online markets is difficult. Logistics robots in fulfillment centers are expected to increase due to difficulties in hiring workers and rising labor costs. Amazon operates more than 100,000 robots in its Fulfillment centers. Alibaba, DHL, and UPS are also introducing robot technology to improve the logistics efficiency. Logistics robots are being used actively in the fierce online market competition of the global distribution industry. On the other hand, Korea is relatively sluggish. To revitalize the introduction of logistics robots in Korea, it is necessary to examine the factors that influence acceptance. The description of acceptability was based on an expanded technology acceptance model that has been verified through various studies. Studies have shown that both the ease and usefulness of purchasing have significant effects, and that ease has the greatest effect. The more experience involved, the more innovative, the more positive. The usefulness was shown to be positive as the perceived risks are low, price efficiency is good, and social impact is greater. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for logistics robot development and marketing.

  • To solve the problem of frequent component failure in guided weapons, a process of component failure in developed countries was investigated and analyzed. The suitability of component control, including risk assessment, analysis of operational impact, and the establishment of response measures, was also demonstrated. In addition, the economic effects of component control were presented by estimating the costs incurred if component control is performed in advance, after-sales, and non-management. DMSMS problems refer to losses or impending losses of an item, raw material, or software manufacturer or supplier. A problem with the discontinuation of parts occurs when the manufacturer or supplier ceases to produce and support the necessary parts, materials, or software, or when the supply of raw materials is no longer possible. Hence, it is important to recognize that failure to all parts of the system can occur.

Effect of Visual Biofeedback Simulation Training for Balance in Patients with Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury (시각적 바이오피드백 시뮬레이션훈련이 불완전 척수손상환자의 균형에 미치는 효과)

  • This study investigated the effectiveness of visual biofeedback simulation training for patients with incomplete spinal cord injuries. Fifteen people with an ASIA impairment scale of C and D, according to the intervention method, were studied. They were randomly divided into two groups, seven people in the experimental group and eight people in the control group. They were studied three times a week for six weeks using a Tetrax Interactive Balance System, for a total of eighteen times, and each test took fifteen minutes. Paired t-tests were used to evaluate the changes before and after intervention. The difference between the groups was compared using an independent t-test. The experimental group showed significantly increased general stability, fall risk index, weight distribution (A, C, D, LEFT, HEEL) and weight distribution index, except for synchronization AC, BD. However, the control group only showed significantly increased weight distribution (A, C, LEFT). In a variation, experimental and control groups showed significantly increased weight distribution (A, B, C, HEEL), general stability, fall risk index and synchronization AD. Consequently, it was found that visual biofeedback simulation training was effective for the balance ability of incomplete spinal cord injury patients, and further studies are required.

Impact Assessment of Sea_Level Rise based on Coastal Vulnerability Index (연안 취약성 지수를 활용한 해수면 상승 영향평가 방안 연구)

  • We have reviewed the current status of coastal vulnerability index(CVI) to be guided into an appropriate CVI development for Korean coast and applied a methodology into the east coast of Korea to quantify coastal vulnerability by future sea_level rise. The CVIs reviewed includes USGS CVI, sea_level rise CVI, compound CVI, and multi scale CVI. The USGS CVI, expressed into the external forcing of sea_level rise, wave and tide, and adaptive capacity of morphology, erosion and slope, is adopted here for CVI quantification. The range of CVI is 1.826~22.361 with a mean of 7.085 for present condition and increases into 2.887~30.619 with a mean of 12.361 for the year of 2100(1 m sea_level rise). The index "VERY HIGH" is currently 8.57% of the coast and occupies 35.56% in 2100. The pattern of CVI change by sea_level rise is different to different local areas, and Gangneung, Yangyang and Goseong show the highest increase. The land use pattern in the "VERY HIGH" index is dominated by both human system of housing complex, road, cropland, etc, and natural system of sand, wetland, forestry, etc., which suggests existing land utilization should be reframed in the era of climate change. Though CVI approach is highly efficient to deal with a large set of climate scenarios entailed in climate impact assessment due to uncertainties, we also propose three_level assessment for the application of CVI methodology in the site specific adaptation such as first screening assessment by CVI, second scoping assessment by impact model, and final risk quantification with the result of impact model.
