  • The present research examined the proposition that once people violate traffic regulations, they would experience cognitive dissonance and subsequently engage in changing their attitudes toward the law negatively in order to reduce the dissonance. In an experiment, participants were presented with three scenarios in which a person violated traffic laws, and they were asked to imagine themselves as the person of the scenarios and write statements supporting the unlawful behaviors. Participants' attitudes toward the general traffic law and the regulations related to the violations were measured 8 weeks before and right after the experimental treatment. The results, as expected, showed that their attitudes toward the general traffic law and the specific regulations in the scenarios changed negatively after writing the statements. In each secnarios, the participants who chose to wrote statements supporting the unlawful behaviors showed great attitude changes that those who did not write the statements. Furthermore, attitudes toward the regulations that were not directly related to the scenarios did not change significantly, and participants who were expected to experience stronger dissonance arousal (e.g.., supported more unlawful behaviors or had have more positive attitudes toward the law before the experiment) showed greater attitude changes. These results support the effects of trivial unlawful behaviors on attitudes toward the law and strongly suggest the role of cognitive dissonance underlying the effects.

  • This study investigated how drivers' cognitive characteristics, such as perception-motor skills and safety-seeking motivation; personal characteristics, such as sensation-seeking disposition coping with physical and social dangers; their self-perceived driving ability; and their normal driving behaviors influence the number of driving violations. 352 drivers participated in the study. MANOVA was performed in order to test the differences in their driving behaviors according to their level of sensation-seeking disposition and driving ability, and Structural Equation Modeling was used to examine the causal relationships among their demographic characteristics, sensation-seeking dispositions, driving ability, driving behaviors and the number of violations. The results indicated that drivers who had higher perception-motor skills seemed to be careful with pedestrians. From the results, drivers who had somewhat higher safety-seeking motivation tended to violate fewer traffic regulations intentionally or accidentally and showed more positive driving behaviors. Furthermore, drivers who had higher perception-motor skills, higher sensation-seeking disposition, and lower safety-seeking motivation had a tendency to violate intentionally more traffic regulations. The older drivers showed driving behaviors that were careful of pedestrians. The drivers who had higher sensation-seeking disposition and longer driving careers violated more traffic regulations, both intentionally and accidentally. Results from LISREL indicated that the predictive variables directly or indirectly influenced on drivers' violation numbers ($x^2$=341.62(p=.00), GFI=.94. RMR=.10).

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of techno-overload and techno-invasion on emotional exhaustion and the mediating role of psychological contract breach. In addition, this study examines the moderating role of voice behavior in the relationship between techno-overload, techno-invasion and psychological contract breach. The results from 296 participants provided evidence that (1) techno-overload and techno-invasion are positively related to psychological contract breach, (2) psychological contract breach is positively related to emotional exhaustion, (3) psychological contract breach partially mediates the relationship between techno-overload, techno-invasion and emotional exhaustion, (4) voice behavior moderates the relationship between techno-overload, techno-invasion and psychological contract breach. Based on the results, implications of these findings, limitations, and future research are discussed in general discussion.

  • With a distinction made between contract breach and contract violation, this study develops a structural model that investigates whether each dimension of contract breach influences experience of a contract violation in the hotel industry. At the same time, the impact of such a violation on hotel employees' work outcomes has been studied. One hundred and seventy eight employees, who are employed in five star deluxe hotels participated in the study and a structural equation modeling(SEM) is employed. The result indicated that good working relationship, and training and development, a so called relational oriented breach, make positively significant impact on contract violation. Whereas, benefits and salary categorized as transactional oriented breach does not. Also, the suggested employee outcomes including high turnover intent, low job satisfaction, and person-organization fit have been influenced by contract violation. As a result, hotel practitioners need to clarify the contract items prior to employment and during employment and to prepare to react to unmet promises.

  • This study is interested in aberrant driver behaviour. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of error and lapse on driving behaviour of elderly drivers. In order to estimate the errors and lapses, 'Driver Behaviour Questionnaire(DBQ) was used and tested with 883 drivers. Among them 175 of young drivers(younger than 25) and 150 of elderly drivers(older than 65) answered their driving patterns; driving history, annual mileage, the frequency of committing traffic violation, and experience of accident within 5 years. Elderly driver's data were collected by face to face interview. The factors of aberrant driver behaviour were analyzed and the DBQ score was compared by the age. The aberrant driver behaviour was consisted of 3 factors; violations, errors and lapses. Elderly driver's DBQ score was lower than young driver's. Elderly and young drivers showed longer driving history. were in low DBQ score group. Elderly drivers had high error score and young drivers had high violation score. Young driver's aberrant driving behaviour was associated with annual mileage, the frequency of committing traffic violation. Elderly driver's aberrant driving behaviour was associated with annual mileage, experience of accident. Specially elderly drivers, whose violation, error, lapse score was high answered more committing experience of accident within 5 years.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of black consumer behavior on turnover intentions. Baron and kenny (1986) The effectiveness of the analysis results, according to the verification procedure. Results of empirical analysis are as follow. black-consumer behavior has the significant positive effect on the intention of turnover of employee in restaurant. and The significance of this study indicates that service employee's psychological contract violation plays a role as mediated variable influencing the relationship between black-consumer behavior and intention of turnover. Based on the results of the empirical analysis, it was suggested that measures such as a policy banning access to black consumers or compensation system such as emotional labor allowance were needed to reduce the degree of turnover of the members of the organization. Finally, the methodological limitations of this study are presented.

  • Criminal profiling is a effective and efficient measure for enhancing industrial security of casino business. Particularly, developing criminal profiling of deviant behaviors in casino will help security management to become more effective and efficient in practical ways. Unfortunately, however, there is lack of empirical profiling study in this regard. To fill the vacuum of literature on this topic, this study was purported to create offender profiles of different types of deviant behaviors in casino based on various theories and techniques in criminal profiling literature, such as investigative psychology, linkage analysis, and behavioral evidence analysis. To fulfill the purposes, this study collected behavioral evidence from 90 casino security officers in South Korea. Offenders' behavioral evidence was analyzed to develop offender profiles of seven different types of deviant behaviors, and then the profiles were compared with each profiles that security officers focus on to identify offenders during their work hours. Results showed that, first, there were unique profiles of each type of seven different categories of deviant behaviors in terms of offenders' ways of speaking and acting, their appearance and attitudes. In addition, this study found that there were some amount of gaps between actual offenders' profiles and profiles that security officers have in mind. Based on the results, this study provided policy implications in terms of managing casino industrial security, education and training for security officers, and future study on casino security.

  • Factors causing traffic accidents are various and traffic law violations can be among them. The efforts to increase traffic law obedience rates of drivers are common in many other countries to reduce traffic accidents, and one of generally applied methods is to increase the amounts of violation fines. Expensive levels of traffic law violation fines could have drivers choose "obey the law" in their decision-making stages since they are economically better-off by following the law. In this sense, this study has developed an economic model to verify whether the current levels of the traffic violation fines of Korea are effective for drivers to choose "obey-the-law" decisions. Speed violations and traffic signal violations have been selected for the case study to verify the relationships between "expected probabilities of being-caught" and "levels of violations fines".
