Results of this study found 5 latent classes of socioeconomic status, named as high education-low income group, low education-low income group, middle education-low income group, high education-high income group, and low education-high income group. Next, there were significant differences in self-esteem depending on 5 latent classes of socioeconomic status. Finally, compared to low education-low income group, high education-low income group, middle education-low income group, high education-high income group, and low education-high income group showed higher levels of self-esteem, even after adjusting for confounding factors. • This study aimed to examine the differences in gender equality consciousness between latent profiles based on corporate workers' organizational culture types. To achieve the study's purpose, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and latent profile analysis (LPA) were conducted using 253 Korean corporate workers' data. As a result of the analysis, the latent profiles of organizational culture recognized by corporate workers were classified into 5 profiles. We named each profile as high compete-low create culture, high compete-low collaborate culture, collaborate culture, high create culture, and high control culture based on each profile's organizational culture perception. The ANOVA test found statistically significant differences between the groups in the gender equality consciousness. This study is meaningful in that it reveals the relationship between the organization culture perception and the gender equality consciousness and suggested implications for the organizational-level intervention to improve the gender equality consciousness. It will provide basic data for your research.

  • This study examined the effects of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness (AEE) on psychological maladjustment and subjective well-being. Furthermore, we examined the moderating effect of collectivism on the relationships between AEE, psychological maladjustment and subjective well-being. Many Korean psychologists have suggested a moderating effect of collectivism on the relationship between ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and psychological adjustment, but there are few studies that have examined these relationships. Consequently, it is necessary to investigate these effects. Data concerning AEE, individualism, collectivism, psychological maladjustment (BSI), and subjective well-being were collected from 138 adults in South Korea. To test the moderation effects, multiple regression analyses was conducted. Results found AEE increased psychological maladjustment and decreased subjective well-being. However, the moderating effect of collectivism was not found in the relationship between AEE and psychological maladjustment, as well as AEE and subjective well-being. The difference of emotion suppression and AEE regarding cultural orientation and clinical implication of these findings were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of educational context variables on achievement and interest in mathematics in high and low achieving students in Korea. Students participated in TIMSS 2015 in Korea were divided into two groups according to their achievement in mathematics. And the effects of educational context variables on achievement and interest in mathematics were analyzed in each group using the Hierarchical Linear Model(HLM). Main findings of this study are as follows. First, variables which influence achievement also influence interest but any variables which influence interest don't influence achievement in upper-group students. Number of Books and Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons have strong influence on achievement and interest in both fourth and eighth grade students. Second, variables which influence achievement or interest in mathematics in lower-group also influence achievement or interest in mathematics in upper-group students. But any variables which influence achievement or interest in upper-group students don't influence achievement or interest in lower-group students. For examples, Parents' Education, Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons have effects on upper-group students' achievement. Number of Books, Home Learning Environment, and Numeracy Activities Before School have significant effects on the achievement of fourth grade students. Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons is the variable that influence on the interest of both fourth grade and eighth grade students. This study suggests the ways to improve mathematics teaching and learning based on these results.

  • The purpose of this study was to research the effects of socio-demographic factors and values in each group on satisfaction with life by categorizing the activity types of the elderly into volunteer work and economic activities. The subjects of this study were 60 years an old higher. The questionnaires were categorized depending on activity types and collected. The voluntary work group consisted of 201 people (76 males, 36.8% and 125 females, 62.2%), The economic activity group consisted of 219 people (127 males, 58.0% and 92 females, 42.0%). The SPSS 14.0 Windows program was used to analyze data. Frequency, average, standard deviation, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, One-Way ANOVA analysis, and hierarchical multiple linear regression were analyzed. The major findings of this study indicate that the elderly in the voluntary work group have a high collectivism value, higher income earned by performing economic activities, and good cognitive health affected by a high satisfaction with life. From these research results, it was proved that a collectivism value is a common factor that affects satisfaction with life in both of the economic activity group. Those who were older had a traditional collectivism value. The voluntary work group showed a stronger collectivism value and higher satisfaction with life than the economic activity group. Thus, the diverse types of voluntary work should be developed and a systematic system should be established as methods for improving quality of life and satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of utilizing a concept map as an instructional strategy to promote student achievement through semantical learning in elementary school on volcanoes. To analyze student achievement in understanding the concept of volcano, quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed through a written test for two different groups that were composed of 80 sixth-grade students: a control group that attended class using the conventional strategy and an experimental group that attended class using concept maps. The results of this study were as follows: First, the use of concept maps in class is effective in learning because of the higher understanding of the group that was using concept maps in the achievement assessment. Second, in their post-instructional understandings, no significant differences are shown between middle- and low-ranking students statistically, but a significant difference is shown between high- and low-ranking students or between high- and middle-ranking students. This indicates that the use of concepts maps in a class is more effective for the middle- and low-ranking students than for the high-ranking students. Third, in the repetitions of classes, the students learning with an aid of concept maps became accustomed to structuring the concepts of their learning subject in categories of relationships, hierarchies, cross-links, and examples easily.
