Study on User Legibility for Web-based Testing (웹 기반 평가를 위한 사용자 가독성에 관한 연구)

  • With development of computer engineering and the examination theories, new techniques to use computers in making or administrating examinations had been studied and developed. Recently, studies on web-based testing are in progress with development of Internet and information and communication technology. However, as compared with development of these technical aspects, studies on the user legibility to provide learners with comfortable environment for the evaluation have been insufficient in fact. In the web-based testing, user legibility decreases the anxiety of examinees in the examination and plays an important role in measuring their competence exactly. In this study, we tried to provide the optimum web-based evaluation interface by obtaining information through a questionnaire for primary-school students. We think that principles suggested in this study can give a great help in making the web-based evaluation screen in future. Besides, studies on more various fields including making individual questions, instructing sentences and layout of multimedia factors as well as the principles mentioned in this study should be performed.

A Qualitative Exploration of Folksonomy Users' Tagging Behaviors (폭소노미에 따른 웹 분류 연구 - 이용자 태깅 행위 분석을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to explore how users are tagging in order to utilize a folksonomy and whether they understand the social and interactive aspects of tagging in three different folksonomic systems, Connotea (www.connotea.org), Delicious(http://delicious.com), and CiteULike(www.citeulike.org). The study uses internet questionnaires, qualitative diary studies, and follow-up interviews to understand twelve participants' tagging activities associated with folksonomic interactions. The flow charts developed from the twelve participants showed that tagging was a quite complex process, in which each tagging activity was interconnected, and a variety of folksonomic system features were employed. Three main tagging activities involved in the tagging processes have been identified: item selection, tag assignment, and tag searching and discovery. During the tag assignment, participants would describe their tagging motivations related to various types of tags. Their perception of the usefulness of types of tags was different when their purpose was for social sharing rather than personal information management. While tagging, participants recognized the social potential of a folksonomic system and used interactive aspects of tagging via various features of the folksonomic system. It is hoped that this empirical study will provide insight into theoretical and practical issues regarding users' perceptions and use of folksonomy in accessing, sharing, and navigating internet resources.

A Study on the Improvement of Web Archive OASIS (웹 아카이브 OASIS 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • OASIS(Online Archiving & Searching Internet Sources) is a web archiving project of the National Library of Korea started in 2004 to systematically collect, manage, and preserve online digital information resources. In this study, the following problems were derived by analyzing the access log of the OASIS website and conducting a user survey. First, people's awareness of the OASIS project was very low, and there were many first-time visitors to the website. Second, active promotion and service reorganization to improve the use of OASIS was insufficient. The study suggested that the improvement point of this was to strengthen its own direct promotion and indirect promotion in connection with other agencies. In addition, it was proposed to enhance the service through user-customized services and to reinforce content that induces interest and fun.

A Study on the Relationship between Usage Characteristics of TV and Web Animation and Purchase Intent of Goods Featuring Animation Characters (아동 애니메이션 이용 특성과 캐릭터상품 구매의사의 관계 : TV와 웹 애니메이션을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to understand the using characteristics of TV animation and web-based animation of children and investigate the effects of change in viewing process on the purchase of character goods. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted for parents who have children as animation viewers. The results show that there was no difference by age or gender in using both TV and web animation. When parents get animation information on TV, they had their children watch animation through the same TV channel, but the web has no significant relationship between information acquisition path and main service they use. In addition, it is found that parent' perception of TV animation superiority is influenced by respondents' income and children's watching time of animation has no effect on it. Finally, monthly income of households, payment amount of web animation, watching time of TV animation, and perception of quality of TV animation have a significant effect on parents' active purchase of character goods. On the other hand, the purchase intention of the recommended goods is influenced by children's age, the parent's perception about the web animation quality, and the payments of the web animation.

The Development of Web Based Instruction Program on Oceanography Unit and the Analysis of Its Effects in Earth Science Class (지구과학 해양 단원의 웹 기반 학습자료 개발 및 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the web based instruction(WBI) program, to examine its effects on the science achievement, the attitude toward science, and students' perceptions on the WBI learning. The WBI program on the content of oceanography unit in Earth Science for high schools was developed using Namo 4.0, JAVA-script, Flash 4, Video Capture of SnagIt, Animation Shop graphic tools. The treatment group consisted of students who participated in the WBI program developed in this study, and the control group consisted of students who participated in the module instruction using self-learning materials. The results from this study were as follows: First, the scores of science achievement of WBI group were significantly higher than those of module group. There was not interaction effect of treatment and students' learning ability. Second, there were no significant difference in the scores of the attitude towards science learning between WBI group and module group, and there was not interaction effect of treatment and students' learning ability. Third, in the perception questionnaire of WBI learning, many students showed the WBI learning were good in terms of causing interaction between learners and web based learning materials including various images and animations. However there are several students who showed learning difficulties. For example they wonder which part is more important and what order is proper to study in hypertext environment.

Application of the Web Design Elements using the Aesthetic Evaluation (감성평가를 이용한 웹 디자인 요소의 활용방안)

  • New design method has been required for web designers to grasp the proper emotion, impression, and feeling of a web site and reflect these elements in web design. It is certain that such a new methodology can be a useful design tool, although web designers have only relied on their intuition and experience to induce users to perceive specific emotion of web sites. In this study, Kansei Engineering Type Ⅰ (Nagamachi, 2002 and Park, 2000) method was applied to develop the methodology. One hundred thirty six web sites believed to convey emotions effectively were first selected by recommendation of professional web designers and twenty two web sites were finally chosen and evaluated using questionnaire. The web sites were then objectively and quantitatively assessed by measuring the degree of utilization of the design elements, balance, overall density, and homogeneity. We examined the cause-and-effect between the results of emotional and quantitative analysis by multiple regression and introduced the design methodology based on the examination. The research method and procedures applied to this study would be applicable to design studies related to the emotional inducement.

  • 본 연구는 멀티미디어를 활용한 웹 기반 코스웨어의 개발로서 첫째, 7차 교육 과정 9학년 과학 교과의 '생식과 발생' 단원을 선정하여 기된 과정의 내용을 철저히 분석하고 심화ㆍ보충 과정과 관련된 자료를 추출하였으며, 둘째, 멀티미디어 기반의 코스웨어가 구동될 수 있는 서버 환경을 구축하였고, 세째 멀티미디어 기반의 웹 코스웨어를 제작하고 구현하였다. 네째. 구현된 코스웨어를 교실 환경에 투입하고 교사와 학생의 반응을 조사하는 순으로 수행하였다. 코스웨어 설계의 기본 방향은 기된 과정의 학습 내용을 학습자 중심의 학습이 되도록 주제별로 적절히 재구성하고 심화ㆍ보충 과정에 해당하는 부분의 내용을 추출하여 학습자가 학습 동기를 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 학습자와의 상호작용을 할 수 있도록 CGI를 활용하여 구현하였다. 코스웨어의 기본 구조는 기본학습(내용 항목), 학습평가, 학습 자료실, 보충 학습, 심화 학습, 교과서를 넘어서, 유용한 사이트 등으로 구성이 되어 있다. 교사용 검사지는 주로 일반 사항, 수업 설계 측면에서 추출하여 사용하였고, 학생용 검사지는 일반 사항과 기술적 측면에서 추출하여 사용하였다. 설문지 조사 결과 대부분의 항목에서 보통이상의 점수를 얻음으로써 개발된 코스웨어의 필요성 및 유용성이 입증이 되었고 앞으로도 더 많은 멀티미디어를 포함한 웹 기반의 코스웨어가 개발되어 학교 현장에 투임 되어야 한다는 것을 시사한다.

  • Much investment has been to improve quality of web service as internet service is in pursuit of equilibrium. Web site of electronic library which offers various information has to be set a new standard for improving users service satisfaction by developing objsctive evaluation system. In this research we acquired standard of evaluation parameter such as contents, design, navigation, feedback, reference, privacy by analyzing domestic web site of electronic library We evaluated constructed model of usability evaluation using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). We develop 'digital library web site evaluation model' based systematic analysis through polling category selected as evaluation guide.

  • In this study, we developed the web-based system evaluating the construction information level considering the characteristic of business of the construction company. According to the business, if a construction company answer to the information evaluation questions and inputs its information goal, the web-based system provides the construction information score and the comparative report to the result of companies which are the similar business type and scale. Moreover this system presents the information strategy to achieve company's information goal based on the present information level. This study will enable to a construction company to improve the level of IT in the construction industry and to increase IT investments.

  • Today, as we are going into digital information environment along with the development of information technology, there are changes in the style of information users. In particular. with the help of computer users can more easily access the original texts and approach to information providers than ever. At the same time, we are trying to use more efficiently some specialized contents in the web-pages. Contrary to traditional mediation-centered collection management, we start realizing that we are expected to bind selected contents with users who search these ones. In this study, I examined problems on collection management and proposed a more advanced content management skill as a solution for those problems. According to on-site questionnaires, The Main factors of user-centered content management are user factors, intermediary factors, and service ones.
