  • Unreadable Khitan scripts of ancient documents written by indian ink on parchment(sheepskin) are visualized by active infrared thermography without contacting and damaging the document which are deteriorated and aged presumably over many years. Sinusoidal infrared thermal wave using Halogen lamp is applied to the surface of the document in order to selectively magnify and record the thermal response of indian ink. The infrared image of the document captured in real time by infrared camera under the active external excitation shows the better sharpness and readability of Khitan characters than the optical image, from which many Khitan letters like ' ' and ' ' sounding as 'd' and 'ri' in English alphabet are detected and deciphered. It is concluded from the experiment that the active infrared thermography can be used as a promising method for digital reconstruction and preservation of ancient documents in the future.

  • COVID-19 is also influencing the coffee industry. This will increase untact consumption, a new consumption trend. Consumption utilizing online channels and delivery service applications that represent untact consumption is becoming commonplace. The coffee industry is also increasingly using coffee shops with drive-through and smart ordering systems that can be ordered with minimal contact. While most of the untact services are preempted at franchise stores, many independent coffee shops still offer differentiated services by communicating directly with customers. However, along with the prolonged COVID-19 infection, coffee shops in the present era, which cannot be free from infectious diseases, have no choice but to worry about delivery services. Therefore, this study analyzed the factors that influence coffee delivery services. Research results due to the influence of COVID-19, regular delivery services have increased along with coffee delivery services. Regular delivery services will play a central role in coffee delivery services due to increased use of home cafes by consumers who want to enjoy coffee in various ways.

  • The evolution of temperature and thermal stress in a granite specimen is studied via heating experiment in the context of a high-level radioactive waste repository. A heating condition based on the decay-induced heat is applied to a cubic granite specimen to measure the temperature and stress distributions and their evolution over time. The temperature increases quickly due to heat conduction along the heated surfaces, but a significant amount of thermal energy is also lost through other surfaces due to air convection and conduction into the loading machine. A three-dimensional finite element-based model is used to numerically reproduce the experiment, and the thermo-mechanical coupling behavior and modeling conditions are validated with the comparison to the experimental results. The most crucial factors influencing the heating experiment are analyzed and summarized in this paper for future works.

  • Based on the assumption that understandings and practices have been shifted in accordance with the historical context, this study aims to propose future policies to localize cultural diversity. First, in this study, it is necessary for the concept of cultural diversity, which came from political struggles, to understand and practice cultural diversity in the historical context by analyzing the multilayer aspects of policy practices. Second, through the case study of Jeonlabuk-do, by reviewing the discrimination experienced by social minorities and the perception of professionals related to culture policies in the region, this study represents to understand and practice of cultural diversity in the multi-layed way, even in the local. Lastly, it suggests some specific future policies to be considered when implicating the policies of culture diversity in respond to the limits of current government policies, including: decentralization of policies, enhancing local policies, transition from 'politics of distribution' to 'politics of recognition', an interculturalist approach that promotes contact rather than separation

  • Drowsy driving requires a lot of social attention because it increases the incidence of traffic accidents and leads to fatal accidents. The number of accidents caused by drowsy driving is increasing every year. Therefore, in order to solve this problem all over the world, research for measuring various biosignals is being conducted. Among them, this paper focuses on non-contact biosignal analysis. Various noises such as engine, tire, and body vibrations are generated in a running vehicle. To measure the driver's heart rate and respiration rate in a driving vehicle with a piezoelectric sensor, a sensor plate that can cushion vehicle vibrations was designed and noise generated from the vehicle was reduced. In addition, we developed a system for classifying whether the driver is sleeping or not by extracting the model using the CNN-LSTM ensemble learning technique based on the signal of the piezoelectric sensor. In order to learn the sleep state, the subject's biosignals were acquired every 30 seconds, and 797 pieces of data were comparatively analyzed.

  • Electricity is essential energy in modern society, such as being used in various industries. However, the rate of fires occurring on electric wiring to deal with it is very high. In this work, we implemented a system to predict the temperature change of an electric circuit through analysis using various regression models. To do so, we collected the temperature data of 27 types of magnetic switches which control electric circuits as well as trained the regression models by using the collected temperature data. In our experiments, we confirmed that the regression models can be trained at a sufficiently usable level since the difference between the actual temperature and predicted temperature is about 4℃. The results of our work will be useful to predict the temperature of electric circuits and preventing fires on them.

  • Today, the handicapped or old people require continuous care, but there are a lot of practical difficulties. In this paper, the system measuring health conditions of the handicapped or old people (pulse and temperature) is developed. If urgent health conditions occur, measurement values are delivered to doctors or close family members using SMS (Short Message Service) of cellular phone. In the developed system, Pulse rate is measured by sensing bloodstream using high luminance LED and CdS illumination sensors. Body temperature is also measured by contactless temperature sensor. Also, the measured values are transmitted to a server computer using Zigbee communications. Also, the measured values the average of measurements and the time are saved. The wireless healthcare system is designed to help the emergency for the handicapped and old people by using SMS.

  • Currently, Induction welding is attracting attention as a non-contact, clean and fast welding process. However, since thermoplastic resins are not affected by electromagnetic fields, induction welding requires a heating element called a susceptor. Researches are being conducted with the aim of achieving high-quality bonding, however, the factor of a heating element is an issue, hence the need to set a standard. Specimen fabrication and testing are conducted according to ASTM D5868. In this study, we propose that the evaluation criteria be judged on the basis of three factors; the condition of the welded joint surface, void content, and lap shear strength. Since the adhesive surface to be welded melts and solidifies as it cools, rapid temperature changes can generate pores. In addition, if the heating is not uniform, it is difficult to expect the desire performance. Using PA6 (CF 30%) thermoplastic, susceptor fabrication, induction welding and performance verification were conducted.

  • As the number of objects connected to the Internet increases rapidly, intelligent device development projects are gradually expanding that provide direct value to humans, away from simple monitoring functions, including sensors and communication functions, or delivery to servers. It is expected that the device will develop a technology that analyzes surrounding sensing information and changes the surrounding environment in consideration of users' preferences or safety. By establishing a biosignal measurement system in a developed product that can bring various effects using air, it will be possible to grasp the user's condition through a pattern of change in pressure distribution when seated. This paper proposes a construction system that enhances the comfort of using an air car seat through contact between a temperature measurement sensor and a user, and enables effective management of measured biosignals by linking them with an air pump control system.

  • Copper is cost-effective and abundantly available as a biocidal coating agent for a wide range of material surfaces. Natural oxidation does not compromise the efficacy of copper, allowing it to maintain antimicrobial activity under prolonged exposure conditions. Furthermore, copper compounds exhibit a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against pathogenic yeast, both enveloped and non-enveloped types of viruses, as well as gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Contact killing of copper-coated surfaces causes the denaturation of proteins and damage to the cell membrane, leading to the release of essential components such as nucleotides and cytoplasm. Additionally, redox-active copper generates reactive oxygen species (ROS), which cause permanent cell damage through enzyme deactivation and DNA destruction. Owing to its robust stability, copper has been utilized in diverse forms, such as nanoparticles, ions, composites, and alloys, resulting in the creation of various coating methods. This mini-review describes representative coating processes involving copper ions and copper oxides on various material surfaces, highlighting the antibacterial and antiviral properties associated with different oxidation states of copper.
