In this paper, a method of using high resolution stereo images is proposed to efficiently detect DSM errors. Automatically generated DSMs from stereo matching can be a useful solution to acquire DSM data in various aspects but they may include many gross errors coming from automatic processing. Therefore, a method to detect the gross errors on DSM is required for efficient DSM update. In this paper, stereo analysis using high resolution stereo images was investigated to represent reliability of DSM grids. The analysis enabled automatic detection of the gross errors which greatly influenced DSM quality. We used the reference DSM to assess reliability of our proposed method. We confirmed from experimental results that our method can be a valuable DSM errors analysis for efficient DSM correction. Our method is useful to analyze and improve DSM accuracy for various types of DSM and DEM. It is expected that our approach can be exploited for achievement of reliable DSM and DEM.

Our society is currently exposed to environment of various information that is exchanged real time through networks. Especially regarding medical policy, the government rushes to practice remote medical treatment to improve the quality of medical services for citizens. The remote medical practice requires establishment of medical information based on big data for customized treatment regardless of where patients are. This study suggests establishment of regional medical cluster along with defense and protection cooperation models that in case service availability is harmed, and attacks occur, the attacks can be detected, and proper measures can be taken. For this, the study suggested forming networks with nationwide local government hospitals as regional virtual medical cluster bases by the same medical information system. The study also designed a mutual cooperation security model that can real time cope with IP Spoofing attack that can occur in the medical cluster and DDoS attacks accordingly, so that the limit that sole system and sole security policy have can be overcome.
Eeffectual use or management of coastal zone is very important problem inside of protection of marine resources as well as land use. Coastal Phenomena are very strong in its locality, each coast has its characteristic problem. Occasionaly we have to solve such problem by three dimension, but it is very difficult to solve it by traditional methods. If we use aerial stereo photographs, we can obtain high usefullness in coastal zone management. Also aerial photographs are very effectual to explain corelation of time to coastal dynamic phenomena and pattern which can not be explained by formula. Images obtained from remote sensors or radiometers bring up usefull informations to planer conected with coastal zone management, have additional value which can be treated and quantitatively analized so as to be read automaticaly and present speedy and low-priced techniques. So, I insist on that sooner or later total image procssor system for Remote Sensing and photo interpretation system must be established in our nation.
The importance of acquisition of road information has recently been increased with a rapid growth of spatial-related services such as urban information system and location based service. This paper proposes an automatic road extraction method using object-based approach which was issued alternative of pixel-based method recently. Firstly, the spatial objects were created by MSRS(Modified Seeded Region Growing) method, and then the key road objects were extracted by using properties of objects such as their shape feature information and adjacency. The omitted road objects were also traced considering spatial correlation between extracted road and their neighboring objects. In the end, the final road region was extracted by connecting discontinuous road sections and improving road surfaces through their geometric properties. To assess the proposed method, quantitative analysis was carried out. From the experiments, the proposed method generally showed high road detection accuracy and had a great potential for the road extraction from high resolution satellite images.
We propose an algorithm to detect large Cochlodinium polykrikoides red tide event that was appeared in Korean coastal waters. This algorithm is based on two-stage filtering using MODIS chlorophyll information. Most of the red tide detection studies generally use assumption that sea water having high chlorophyll concentration is red tide events because of high correlation and red tide. However, these methods generate many commission errors such as turbid water by detecting inactive sea water of red tide. Therefore, we eliminated commission errors by applying two stage filtering and verified the algorithm's effectiveness by detecting large Cochlodinium polykrikoides red tide event that was appeared in Korean coastal waters.
Wavelet transform has been widely used in terms that it may overcome the shortcoming of conventional Fourier transform. Fourier transform has its difficulty to explain how the transformed domain, frequency, is related with time. Traditional semblance technique in Fourier transform was devised to compare two time series on the basis of their phase as a function of frequency. But this method is known not to work well for the non-stationary signal. In this study, we present two applications of the wavelet-based semblance method to geophysical data. Firstly, we show filtered geomagnetic signal remained with components of high correlation to each observatory. Secondly, highly correlated residual signal of gravity and magnetic survey data, which are also filtered by this semblance method, is present.
A seasonal outlook for crop insect pests is most valuable when it provides accurate information for timely management decisions. In this study, we investigated probable tele-connections between climatic phenomena and pest infestations in Korea using a statistical method. A rice insect pest, brown planthopper (BPH), was selected because of its migration characteristics, which fits well with the concept of our statistical modelling - utilizing a long-term, multi-regional influence of selected climatic phenomena to predict a dominant biological event at certain time and place. Variables of the seasonal climate forecast from 10 climate models were used as a predictor, and annual infestation area for BPH as a predictand in the statistical analyses. The Moving Window Regression model showed high correlation between the national infestation trends of BPH in South Korea and selected tempo-spatial climatic variables along with its sequential migration path. Overall, the statistical models developed in this study showed a promising predictability for BPH infestation in Korea, although the dynamical relationships between the infestation and selected climatic phenomena need to be further elucidated.
Land Surface Temperature (LST) has been operationally retrieved from the Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) data by the spilt-window method (CSW_v2.0) developed by Cho et al. (2015). Although the CSW_v2.0 retrieved the LST with a reasonable quality compared to the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) LST data, it showed a relatively poor performance for the strong inversion and lapse rate conditions. To solve this problem, the LST retrieval algorithm (CSW_v2.0) was updated using the simulation results of radiative transfer model (MODTRAN 4.0) by considering the diurnal variations of air temperature. In general, the upgraded version, CSW_v3.0 showed a similar correlation coefficient between the prescribed LSTs and retrieved LSTs (0.99), the relatively smaller bias (from -0.03 K to-0.012 K) and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) (from 1.39 K to 1.138 K). Particularly, CSW_v3.0 improved the systematic problems of CSW_v2.0 that were encountered when temperature differences between LST and air temperature are very large and/or small (inversion layers and superadiabatic lapse rates), and when the brightness temperature differences and surface emissivity differences were large. The bias and RMSE of CSW_v2.0 were reduced by 10-30% in CSW_v3.0. The indirect validation results using the MODIS LST data showed that CSW_3.0 improved the retrieval accuracy of LST in terms of bias (from -0.629 K to -0.049 K) and RMSE (from 2.537 K to 2.502 K) compared to the CSW_v2.0.

Korean fir (Abies koreana Wilson) is one of the most important environmental indicator tree species for assessing climate change impacts on coniferous forests in the Korean Peninsula. However, due to the nature of alpine and subalpine regions, it is difficult to conduct regular field surveys of Korean fir, which is mainly distributed in regions with altitudes greater than 1,000 m. Therefore, this study analyzed the vegetation change trend of Korean fir using regularly observed remote sensing data. Specifically, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), land surface temperature (LST), and precipitation data from Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievalsfor GPM from September 2003 to 2020 for Hallasan and Jirisan were used to analyze vegetation changes and their association with environmental variables. We identified a decrease in NDVI in 2020 compared to 2003 for both sites. Based on the NDVI difference maps, areas for healthy vegetation and high mortality of Korean fir were selected. Long-term NDVI time-series analysis demonstrated that both Hallasan and Jirisan had a decrease in NDVI at the high mortality areas (Hallasan: -0.46, Jirisan: -0.43). Furthermore, when analyzing the long-term fluctuations of Korean fir vegetation through the Hodrick-Prescott filter-applied NDVI, LST, and precipitation, the NDVI difference between the Korean fir healthy vegetation and high mortality sitesincreased with the increasing LST and decreasing precipitation in Hallasan. Thissuggests that the increase in LST and the decrease in precipitation contribute to the decline of Korean fir in Hallasan. In contrast, Jirisan confirmed a long-term trend of declining NDVI in the areas of Korean fir mortality but did not find a significant correlation between the changes in NDVI and environmental variables (LST and precipitation). Further analyses of environmental factors, such as soil moisture, insolation, and wind that have been identified to be related to Korean fir habitats in previous studies should be conducted. This study demonstrated the feasibility of using satellite data for long-term monitoring of Korean fir ecosystems and investigating their changes in conjunction with environmental conditions. Thisstudy provided the potential forsatellite-based monitoring to improve our understanding of the ecology of Korean fir.

Traditional methods for the extraction of the environmental factors of waters in which environmental change is severer than in the land can not examine closely the changed phenomena because of the lack of equipments, manpower, time and cost, etc. Therefore, new practical and efficient methods are required. The research for the method to manage environment of the waters with remote sensing technology was needed. This study examined the interrelations between the data by an on-the-spot survey and Landsat TM data and presented the model for extracting factors of water quality with regression analysis and experimental formula.
