Human Error Analysis on the Domestic Railway Accident and Incident (국내 철도사고 및 운행장애의 인적오류 유형 분석)

  • Human error is one of the major contributors to the railway accidents or incidents. In order to develop an effective countermeasure to remove or reduce human errors, a systematic analysis should be preferentially performed to identify their causes, characteristics, and types of human error induced in accidents or incidents. This paper introduces a case study for human error analysis of the railway accidents and incidents. For the case study, more than 1,000 domestic railway accidents or incidents that happened during the year of 2004 have been investigated and a detailed error analysis was performed on the selected 90 cases, which were obviously caused by human error. This paper presents a classification structure for human error analysis, and summarizes the analysis results such as causes of the events, error modes and types, related worker, and task type.

  • 2004년 경부고속철도가 개통된 이후, 열차제어시스템에 있어서 크고 작은 여러 가지 문제점이 시스템의 안정화를 위한 초기 단계의 형태로서 발생되었다. 특히 국내에서 처음으로 열차가 300km/h로 운행됨에 따라, 열차의 고속 운행 환경에 대한 운영 및 유지보수의 어려움이 자주 유발되었다. 한 예로 2005년에는 서울에서 약 170km 남쪽에 위치한 칠곡 신호기계실(IEC) 지역에 설치된 선로변 설비인 HBD의 오동작이 발생됨에 따라 관련 설비에 대한 신뢰성은 물론 설비의 기능상의 문제점까지 전면적인 검토를 필요로 하였다. 본 논문에서는 고속선 운영 및 유지보수에 있어서 선로변 설비의 장애 원인을 조사, 분석, 검토함으로서 고속선 열차제어시스템 HBD에 대한 안정적인 운영 및 유지보수를 구현하기 위한 방안 제시를 주요 목적으로 한다.

Analysis of Train Delay in Daejeon Metro (대전도시철도의 열차 지연운행 분석연구)

  • This study investigated the causes and problems of train operation impediments through the statistics analysis of 8 years'internal data of Daejeon Metropolitan Express Transit. By evaluating the risks regarding the system, equipment, and parts of high risk group, this study measured the Risk Index Severity, and applied the $5{\times}5$ Risk Assessment Matrix which is a method of risk management to calculate the scale of risk to analyze the safety level and allowance range. As a result, the car sector, the most serious risk, followed by machinery and equipment sector showed that the inherent risk. In particular, the door broken and the door rail signaling and control devices due to defects of the vehicle is high, but also the severity, and frequency are showing very frequent additional potential accidents. PSD also had defects in the machinery sector appeared to be the most dangerous of the PSD poor safety gates, it was found that the glass also involve the risk of mishandling and breakage of the PSD. This study intended to contribute to the transportation benefits through the safety and stable operation of Metropolitan Express Transit.

  • 본 논문은 차량의 번호판 인식 시스템을 구축할 목적으로 번호판 추출을 컬러 정보를 이용하여 구현하였다. 본 실험은 특히 번호판 추출에 많은 장애 요인, 즉, 흐린날, 늦은 오후에 촬영된 차량, 번호판과 같은 색상을 가지는 차량, 그늘진 곳에 주차된 차량 그리고, 운행중인 차량에 대해서도 실험 대상으로 하였다. 그리고, 본 논문에서는 빠른 번호판 검출을 위하여 부분 영역에 대한 특정 픽셀을 추출하였고, 변형 모폴로지와 레이블링의 반복 적용을 통하여 번호판을 검출하며, 후처리를 통하여 보다 정확한 영역을 재보정 한다.

  • To change rail tracks from main track to another track, it needs a device that is called the turnout point. If the point which is composed of accurate parts and complex sensors does not work, And also, serious problems will be arisen. However, there are serious problems by the failure of the point. In this paper, after analyzing the failures of the conventional points, a new point is suggested. The proposed point is not affected by the surge caused by lightning.

  • 본 논문은 진접선 개통 이후 급증하는 서울 지하철 4호선의 혼잡 문제와 현재 진행 중인 장애인 차별 반대 시위를 다룬다. 네이버의 지도 API를 활용해 위도와 경도 데이터를 추출하고 지하철 노선별 장애인 승객 수와 최대 지연시간을 시각화한다. 2호선과 4호선의 혼잡도가 표시되어 문제의 심각성을 알 수 있다. 평균 출퇴근 시간 탑승 및 하차 수치를 분석하여 4호선 편의시설 개선, 2·4호선 열차 운행 횟수 늘리기, 환승역 운영 최적화 등 전략적 권장 사항을 제시한다. 제안된 대책은 서울시 지하철 시스템의 접근성 향상, 혼잡완화, 전반적인 효율성 제고를 통해 보다 폭넓은 교통시설 개선과 승객 편의 증진에 기여하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

  • Korean railroad company is continuously improving the service for the disabled. They also install and reform many facilities for them. However, It is not considered the importance of egress when fire occurred in a cabin Now, Fire hazard analysis and risk assessment are introduced into domestic regulations for improving fire safety performance of train car and railroad facilities. Considering the fact that fire safety evaluation process doesn't fully include disabled person, fundamental egress data for them is very important for life safety aspect. In this paper, Egress experiments and analysis were conducted to measure the movement speed of the disabled with Mugunghwa and Saemaul.

  • Recently, as South Korea has joined the OSJD, the rules of the OSJD need to be applied to South Korea. Therefore, the railways are connected to the continent railway in terms of software, but the railway systems in neighboring countries have been developed and operated for a long time, and are quite different with some restrictions in terms of hardware. Therefore, this study analyzed the current railway systems of neighboring countries' based on the TSI used in Europe for technical interoperability. A real operation with the operation models within the specific route was assumed and vector functions for the Infrastructure vector & Rolling stock vector were produced. The IOP value was calculated by working out the interfacing matrix value between the infrastructure vector and rolling stock vector. As a result of calculating the IOP in a specific route, which is from Busan South Korea to Vladivostok with the diesel locomotive hauling freight cars, the value was only 22%, which is fairly low in terms of the interoperability. In other words, there are 77.8% restricting items preventing their interoperability. Such restricted causes should be improved to increase the technical interoperability in the long term. Moreover, and when railway systems are constructed and manufactured, it is important to keep IOP 100% to increase the operating efficiency in continental railways.

  • This paper is aimed to analyze the achievements of the Tunnel Monitoring System(TMS), implemented in Seoul subway L5~L8, and to find out improved methods. By introducing the TMS, it is possible to inspect tunnel facilities for 24 hours a day while trains are operated. The inspection capability could be expanded, the accuracy was improved, and the cycle was shortened. The efficiency of manpower was improved and the surplus manpower could be used for other tasks of facilities maintenance. As a result, by introduction of the TMS, the amount of tunnel maintenance was increased by 225% and the train service troubles caused by facility problems were decreased by 53%.

  • Various RFID-based smart-walk systems have been developed for guiding disabled people. The system sends appropriate message whenever the disabled people arrived at a specific point. We propose universal design concept and optimization techniques for the smart-walk systems. Universal design concept can be adopted for supporting various kinds of disabled such as a blind person, a hearing-impaired person, or a foreigner in a system. It can be supported by storing appropriate messages set in the message database table depending on the kinds of the disabled. System optimization can be done by analyzing operational log(stream) data accumulated in the system. Useful information can be extracted by analyzing or mining the accumulated operational log data. We show various analysis results from the operational log data.
