Short Term Runoff Characteristics Change of Stream Water Quality with Different Rainfall Events in Planted Coniferous Forest (침엽수 인공림에서 강우사상별 계류수 수질의 유출특성 변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate solutes concentration change with respect to discharge change in coniferous forest experiment watershed in Gyeonggi-do, Korea. From 2005 to 2008. Precipitation, discharge, solutes has been analyzed from 23 precipitation events. The results showed that low API induced low discharge. $NH_4{^+}$, $K^+$, and $Ca^{2+}$ were indicated by clockwise and $Cl^-$ and $NO_3{^-}$ were represented by counterclockwise hysteresis loop. ${SO_4}^{2-}$, $Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$ showed no hysteresis loop pattern. $Cl^-$, $Na^+$, $NH_4{^+}$ was relatively constant due to groundwater during precipitation, $NO_3{^-}$ was increased due to soil water compared to early precipitation. $Cl^-$, ${SO_4}^{2-}$, $Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$ was diluted with respect to increased discharge and $NO_3{^-}$ was diluted in early precipitation and then increased in the end. $NO_3{^-}$ and $Ca^{2+}$ eluviated in early precipitation. This characteristics was presumed by the effect of API, discharge and ground water.

  • FET-type dissolved oxygen sensor has the Pt working electrode around the pH-ISFET. Appling a voltage to the working electrode, the hydrogen ion which is proportional to the dissolved oxygen concentration occurs around the pH sensing gate and we can measure the dissolved oxygen concentration by detecting pH concentration through the pH-ISFET. In this paper, a dissolved oxygen measurement system using FET-type dissolved oxygen sensor array which adopt a specific algorithm to enhance the reliability has been developed and we compared its performance with the commercial dissolved oxygen measurement system.

Chemical Characteristics of Water Quality of Rainfall, Throughfall, Soil and Stream Water in Small Forested Watershed (산림유역내(山林流域內) 강수(降水), 수관통과우(樹冠通過雨), 토양수(土壤水) 및 계류수(溪流水) 수질(水質)의 화학적(化學的) 특성(特性))

  • This research was conducted to analyze the influence of the environmental factors on water quality such as contents of cation($K^+$, $Na^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$) and anion($Cl^-$, $NO{_3}^-$, $SO{_4}^{2-}$) in rainfall, throughfall, soil water(A and B layer), and stream water at a small forested watershed. Rainfall, throughfall, soil water(A and B layer), and stream water were sampled at the study sites in Kwanak Arboretum, Seoul National University, in Mt. Kwanak for 14 months(Jul. 1, 1996~Aug. 31, 1997). $Cl^-$ content of stream water correlated with that of soil water tire than that of rainfall and throughfall. Also $NO{_3}^-$ content in soil water was correlated with that of rainfall. Cation($K^+$, $Na^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$) contents in soil water at layer A and B were significantly correlated with anion($Cl^-$, $NO{_3}^-$, $SO{_4}^{2-}$) of that. The ratio of the average content of $NO{_3}^-$ to $SO{_4}^{2-}$ in rainfall was 0.66. Accordingly the content of $SO{_4}^{2-}$ was higher than $NO{_3}^-$ in rainfall. The amount of anion in stream water was significantly correlated with that in rainfall, throughfall, and soil water. Average content of cation and anion in hydrological processes were decreasing in the following order, soil water(B layer> A layer) > throughfall(Pinus rigida > Prunus serrulata var. spontanea > Carpinus laxiflora) > stream water > rainfall.

Geochemical Characteristics and Origin of Dissolved Ions in the Han River Water (한강 하천수 중 용존이온의 지구화학적 특성과 기원)

  • Geochemical data of the Han river water, including four tributary water samples in the main Han river are presented in this paper. The concentration of dissolved ions in the North Han river water decreases in order of Ca>Na>K>Mg and HCO$_3$>NO$_3$>SO$_4$>Cl, which it mainly affected by the chemical weathering of granite and gneiss in the drainage basin. Meanwhile, the South Han river water shows a decreasing order of Ca>Mg>Na>K and HCO$_3$>SO$_4$>NO$_3$>Cl, which is controlled by the bed rock geology of carbornate rooks and the inflow of acid mine drainage from the metal and coal mines in the Taebaegsan and Hwanggangri areas. The main Han river waters are characterized by unusually high concentration of Na, Cl and SO$_4$ (Ca>Na>K>Mg and HCO$_3$>SO$_4$>CI>NO), indicating a significant anthropogenic pollution by human activities in the metropolitan Seoul city. The geochemical data of the Han river waters from 1981 through 1996 to 1999 records a significant increase in SO$_4$ and NO$_3$, which responsible for the increasing arid mane drainage and municipal anthropogenic pollution.

  • This paper proposes the new type of an ion exchange water generator system. The system has an +/- ion exchange membrane located in center and a diagonal-interdigit type electrode applied to a pulsed power. This system is studied in the liquid for the oxidation/reduction potential and the dissolved oxygen concentration by the polarity effects. Consequently, as a diagonal-interdigit type electrode is installed in each side of device, the oxidation/reduction potential and dissolved oxygen concentration by polarity changes and electrical resistivity differences be observed. An ion concentration in the ion exchange water generator system is increased by dissolved oxygen generated from oxidation/reduction potential changes.

  • PWR 정지시 일차계통 수화학 제어의 주요대상은 계통표면에 침적된 부식생성물의 주성분인 비화학양론적 니켈(코발트)페라이트로서, 산성-환원 단계에서 용존수소에 의해 Ni$^{\circ}$ (또는 Co$^{\circ}$)로 환원되고 산성-산화 단계에서 용존산소에 의해 Ni$^{2+}$ (또는 CO$^{2+}$)로 산화되어 이온교환기에 의해 제거된다 본 연구에서는, 니켈 및 코발트 산화물의 25~300 $^{\circ}C$ 환원 또는 산화반응 시 표준자유에너지의 변화 및 용존수소 또는 용존산소의 요구농도를 계산하여, 원자로 정지시 일차계통수 용존 기체의 제어조건을 고찰하였다. 산성-환원 단계의 냉각재 온도인 300~82$^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 용존수소가 충분할 경우 열역학적으로 $^{58}$ Co(또는 $^{60}$Co)Fe$_2$O$_4$$\longrightarrow$Co의 역반응이 억제되므로서 노심외 계통부위 침적이 감소될 수 있기 때문에, 용존수소를 온도에 따라 요구농도 곡선 위로 약간 높게 유지하는 것보다 25~50 cc/kg-$H_2O$로 유지하는 방식이 바람직한 반면, 용존산소를 제공하는 과산화수소 농도가) 2.7 ppm일 때 NiFe$_2$O$_4$$\longrightarrow$Ni$_2$O$_4$(+$\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$) 반응이 일어날 수 있기 때문에, 산성-산화 단계에서는 과산화수소의 냉각재 농도를 이보다 낮게 유지하는 것이 바람직하다.

Effect of Redox Processes and Solubility Equilibria on the Behavior of Dissolved Iron and Manganese in Groundwater from a Riverine Alluvial Aquifer (만경강 하천변 충적 지하수의 용존 Fe와 Mn 거동에 대한 산화-환원 과정과 용해 평형의 효과)

  • Biogeochemical characteristics involving redox processes in groundwater from a riverine alluvial aquifer was investigated using multi-level monitoring wells (up to 30m in depth). Anaerobic conditions were predominant and high Fe ($14{\sim}37mg/L$) and Mn ($1{\sim}4mg/L$) concentrations were observed at 10 to 20 m in depth. Below 20 m depth, dissolved sulfide was detected. Presumably, these high Fe and Mn concentrations were derived from the reduction of Fe- and Mn-oxides because dissolved oxygen and nitrate were nearly absent and Fe and Mn contents were considerable in the sediments. The depth range of high Mn concentration is wider than that of high Fe concentration. Dissolved organics may be derived from the upper layers. Sulfate reduction is more active than Fe and Mn reduction below 20 m in depth. Disparity of calculated redox potential from the various redox couples indicates that redox states are in disequilibrium condition in groundwater. Carbonate minerals such as siderite and rhodochrosite may control the dissolved concentrations of Fe(II) and Mn(II), and iron sulfide minerals control for Fe(II) where sulfide is detected because these minerals are near saturation from the calculation of solubility equilibria.

용존산소 제거용 중공사 탈기막의 방사선장하에서의 영향평가에 대한 연구

  • 원자력발전소에서 원자로 냉각재 중의 용존산소 제어는 원자로 냉각재 계통에서의 전면 부식과 다양한 형태의 응력부식균열(SCC)를 완화시키는데 기여한다. 원자로 냉각재 계통내에 용존 되어있는 산소는 발전소 기동 시에는 하이드라진($N_2H_4$)을 넣거나 인위적 배기를 통해 제거하고, 정상운전 중에는 체적제어탱크(VCT)에 수소를 가압하여 제거시킨다. 계통내로 유입되는 용존산소를 최대한 억제하기 위하여 대부분의 원자력발전소는 원자로 보충수 탱크 상층부에 질소를 주입하여 탱크로 유입되는 공기를 차단하고 있으나, 이 과정에서 일부 수중에 용해되어 들어가는 질소는 계통 내에서 NH$_3$를 형성하여 화학체적제어계통(CVCS)의 이온교환 수지탑에 치환됨으로서 기포화 되어있는 Li을 계통으로 빠져나오게 하여 계통 pH에 영향을 미친다.(중략)

Effect of Temperature and FA Concentration on the Conversion of Ammonium to Nitrite (온도와 FA 농도가 암모늄 이온의 아질산 전환에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of free ammonia (FA) concentration and temperature on nitrite accumulation were studied. To estimate the most effective ammonium oxidation and nitrite build-up condition, nitrification tests were conducted in batch conditions at various FA concentrations, and at different ammonium concentration and temperature. The activation energies of ammonium oxidizer were 81.7 KJ/mol below $20^{\circ}C$, and 32.5 KJ/mol over $20^{\circ}C$, while that of nitrite oxidizer was 35.5 KJ/mol irrespective of temperature variations. The results of nitrification tests conducted at different FA concentrations and temperatures showed that temperature strongly affects nitrite accumulation, while effects due to FA concentrations were found negligible.

Review of Chemical Speciation of Dissolved Zinc in Seawater (해수 중 용존 아연의 화학적 존재 형태 연구 동향)

  • Zinc (Zn) is known as an essential micronutrient for phytoplankton in the ocean. In surface waters, most of total dissolved Zn presents as organic complexes, and organic complexation dominates the speciation of Zn in seawater. Organic complexation reduces the bioavailable fraction of Zn, the free metal ion (Zn2+), which present less than 5% in surface waters. In this paper, a brief introduction on chemical speciation of dissolved Zn in seawater and analytical method for chemical speciation measurement is provided. Some representative studies were also introduced to describe the importance of chemical speciation of Zn (or other trace metals) on bioavailability and biogeochemistry in the ocean.
