Vegetation structure, composition and diversity were quantified for 10 samples ($10m{\times}10m$) representing woody vegetation and for 30 samples ($1m {\times}3m$) representing understory vegetation in Pinus parviflora and Tsuga sieboldii forest of Taeharyeong, Ulleung-gun (Gyeongsangbuk-do). P. parviflora was limitedly advanced to sapling layer from seedling stage, and based on Mantel tests, composition of canopy layer was not established in ground woody vegetation. Non-metric multidimensional scaling revealed influence of biotic and abiotic factors in species composition of woody and understory vegetation. In the result of multiple regression model, abundance of P. parviflora (density and breast height area) and percent cover of woody debris were significant predict variables for understory diversity. These results suggest that relatively large disturbance is required for regeneration of P. parviflora and T. sieboldii forest, and control of expansion of monocultural understory species that monopolize resources such as Carex blepharicarpa and Maianthemum dilatatum, is necessary for maintenance of diversity.

Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze the social factors influencing the 'authenticity of suicidal ideation' based post-suicidal care programs in emergency departments (EDs). Methods: This retrospective study was an analysis using the data of patients who had attempted suicide and visited the ED in tertiary urban hospitals from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018. The variables examined included gender, age, history of previous psychiatric disease, suicide method, and the number of previous attempts. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors influencing the registration rate for the community-based post-suicide care program. Results: Overall,1,460 suicides were analyzed, 177 (1.16%) showed a high authenticity of suicide. The social factors influencing the authenticity of suicide intent were the unmarried status of men and women, joblessness, history of mental illnesses, more than two previous suicide attempts, the influence of alcohol, and an attempt to commit suicide after midnight more specifically between 24:00 to 6:00 hours in the morning (p<.05). The factors influencing the severity of the condition of high authenticity suicide patients were low Glasgow coma scores (12 points or less), lactate levels, and oxygen saturation observed in the patients who were admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment and died (p<.05). Conclusion: The need for evidence-based preventive measures and early assessment tools at the emergency medicine level is emphasized to reduce the rate of suicide attempts. If the results of this study are used in the management of suicide prevention, the evaluation of the authenticity of suicide intent will be more likely to be made at the emergency medicine level, allowing the severity to be assessed earlier.

In context awareness using multiple sensors, when using sensor data detected and sent by each sensor, it is necessary to give different weights for each sensor. Even if the same type of sensor is configured for the same situation, sometimes it is necessary to assign different weights due to other secondary factors. It is inevitable to assign weights to events in the real world, and it can be said that a weighting method that can be used in a context awareness system using multiple sensors is necessary. In this study, we propose a weighting method for each sensor that reports to the host while the sensors continue to detect over time. In most IoT environments, the sensor continues the detection activity, and when the detected value shows a change pattern beyond a predetermined range, it is basically reported to the host. This can be called a kind of data stream environment. A weighting method was proposed for sensing data from multiple sensors in a data stream environment, and the new weighting method was to select and assign weights to data that indicates a context change in the stream.

The prediction of changes regarding the distribution of vegetation and plant species according to climate changes is important for ecosystem management. In this study, we attempted to develop an assessment method to evaluate the possibility of the potential distribution of warm-temperate woody plant species of East Asia in Korea. To begin with, a list of warm-temperate woody plants distributed in China and Japan, but not in Korea, was prepared, and a database consisting their global distribution and bioclimatic variables was constructed. In addition, the warm-temperate vegetation zone in Korea was delineated using the coldness index and relevant bioclimatic data were collected. After the exclusion of multicollinearity among bioclimatic variables using correlation analysis, mean temperature of the coldest quarter, mean temperature diurnal range, and annual precipitation were selected as the major variables that influence the distribution of warm-temperate plants. A multivariate environment similarity surfaces (MESS) analysis was conducted to calculate the similarity scores between the distribution of these three bioclimatic variables in the global distribution sites of the East Asian warm-temperate woody plants and the Korean warm-temperate vegetation zone. Finally, using stepwise variable-selection regression, the mean temperature of the coldest quarter and annual precipitation were selected as the main bioclimatic variables that affect the MESS similarity index. The mean temperature of the coldest quarter accounted for 88% of the total variance. For a total of 319 East Asian warm-temperate woody plant species, the possibility of their potential distribution in Korea was evaluated by applying the constructed multivariate regression model that calculates the MESS similarity index.

Chronic infection by hepatitis B virus (HBV) greatly increases the risk for liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The outcome of HBV infection is shaped by the complex interplay of the mode of transmission, host genetic factors, viral genotype, adaptive mutations, and environmental factors. The pregenomic RNA transcription of HBV for their replication is regulated by the core promoter activation. Core promoter mutations have been the reason for acute liver failure and are associated with HCC development. We obtained HBV genes from a patient in Myanmar who was infected with HBV and identified gene variations in the core promoter region. For measuring the relative transactivation activity of the core promoter, we prepared the core-promoter reporter construct. Among the gene variations of the core promoter, the mutations of C1731T and G1806A were associated with increase in the transactivation of the HBV core promoter. Through computer analysis for searching for a tentative transcription factor binding site, we showed that the mutations of C1713T and G1806A newly created C/EBPβ and XBP1-responsive elements of the core promoter, respectively. The ectopic expression of C/EBPβ largely increased the HBV core promoter containing the C1713T mutation and that of XBP1 activated the M95 promoter containing the G1806A mutation. Our efforts to treat and prevent HBV infections are hampered by the emergence of drug-resistant mutations and vaccine-escape mutations. Our results provide the biological properties and clinical significance of specific HBV core promoter mutations.
Today, apartment houses account for a very high proportion of the types of residence. This study analyzed the difference between the bidding construction cost using the long-term repair allowance and using the general repair cost, and analyzed the difference of factors affecting the amount of use of these two items. For this purpose, related data on apartment housing complexes located in seven representative districts of Busan from 2017 to 2021 were collected and analyzed from the apartment housing management information system. As a result of statistical analysis, the type of bidding variable had the greatest negative(-) effect on the bidding construction cost, and the next factor that affected was different between the amount of long-term repair allowance used and general repair cost used. In addition, there was a difference in statistical significance in the type of bidding by construction year for the number of bidding works between the case of using the long-term repair allowance and the case of using the general repair cost. The results of this analysis will help to find ways to reduce bidding construction costs. However, it is expected to find additional meaning by including more detailed variables such as technical ability.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the vaccination coverage for hepatitis B among aged 19 or older, and at the same time to determine the reasons for vaccination or non-vaccination. Methods: The survey was conducted through a Mixed-Mode Random Digit Dialing Survey (RDD) method. The survey included hepatitis B vaccination status, reasons of vaccination and non-vaccination, sources of information on vaccination, and other related factors. Results: The vaccination coverage for hepatitis B among adults 19 years of age and older were 38.0%, 32.5%, and 26.9% for the first, second, and third doses. A related factors with high rate of hepatitis B vaccination was women, younger than 65 years of age, rural residents, having a job, highly educated, health insurance subscribers, living with spouse, family members living together. In addition, the vaccination rate was higher in those who was aware of the states recommended adult vaccination, were explained by a doctor about the need for adult vaccination, kept their vaccination records, and recognized that it helped prevent infectious diseases, and had seen promotional materials. Conclusions: In the future, it is necessary to check the antibody retention rate along with the hepatitis B vaccination coverage of adults on a regular basis. In addition, in order to accurately and quickly identify the hepatitis B vaccination coverage, it is necessary to prepare a plan to improve the computerized registration rate to manage adult vaccination records.

This study focuses on the impact of research data metadata quality evaluation index on the revitalization of K-BDS, a research data platform in the bio field, and examines the mediating effect of motivation factors for utilizing the platform. The investigation employs a structural equation model analysis and bootstrap analysis to explore the interrelationships among the three variables. The findings demonstrate that researchers who prioritize the quality of metadata display higher motivation to use the research data platform, leading to an intention to activate the platform. The study also confirms the mediating effect of motivation factors. Moreover, a comprehensive understanding of the sub-factors within each variable is attained through regression analysis and Sobel test. The results highlight that enhancing searchability is crucial to activate research data sharing in the bio field, while improving discoverability is vital for research data reuse. Interestingly, the study reveals that citationability does not significantly impact platform activation. As a conclusion, to foster platform activation, it is imperative to provide systematic support by enhancing metadata quality. This improvement can not only increase trust in the platform but also institutionally solidify the benefits of citation.
The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) and changes in medical services centering on daily life have ushered in an era of self-management through the smartphone health management app (mHealth). This study identified the factors affecting mHealth use among older adults with diabetes. A structured survey was conducted using online and offline channels for 252 older adults who were over 65 and had diabetes. The collected data were subjected to hierarchical multiple regression analyses, and subjective health status, e-health literacy, and interaction terms of social support were inputted to verify moderating effect. The main results of this study are as follows. First, mHealth use among older adults with diabetes was higher in the male, type 2 diabetes, and younger age groups. Second, the higher was the e-health literacy, the higher was the mHealth use. Third, a negative moderating effect of social support was found in the relationship between subjective health status and mHealth use. We expect this study to provide researchers and managers interested in mHealth and older adults with diabetes, with valuable theoretical and practical implications. Furthermore, this study contributes to improving mHealth use among older adults with diabetes and building a digitally inclusive society.

In this study, a survey was conducted targeting specialized librarians, and the impact on the work area according to changes in the internal and external environment and policy support measures was analyzed. In this study, we tried to derive factors that affect library development and policy suggestions accordingly. As a result of the study, first, it was confirmed that 58.3% of the negative opinions in terms of the importance of library development plans were positive in recognition of the role of library status within individual institutions. Second, in order to increase the status of specialized libraries, it was found that awareness of academic research activities was necessary by recognizing the importance of major functions and roles. Third, among the comprehensive library development plans, the recognition of specialized libraries and operational evaluation was the highest in recognition of the expansion of national public information services to the public. In addition, it was confirmed that among the five-year development strategies, the policy that should be implemented first is the preference for updating the status of specialized libraries and establishing a system for investigation. Fourth, as a result of analyzing effective alternatives and improvement indicators to increase the participation rate in library operation evaluation, the weighting of the "institutional library operation evaluation" item in the evaluation item of public enterprises was the highest at 4.01 on average. Therefore, for the development of specialized libraries, it was recognized as the most urgent task to establish a system that can comprehensively grasp the current status of specialized libraries as well as active academic research and support them.
