Experimental Analysis on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of Magnetic Fluids in a Cubic Cavity (자성유체의 밀폐공간내의 열전달 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Natural convection of a magnetic fluid is different from that of Newtonian fluids because magnetic-body force exists in addition to gravity and buoyancy. In this paper, natural convection of a magnetic fluids (W-40) in a cubic cavity was examined by experimental method. One side wall was kept at a constant temperature (25 $^{\circ}C$), and the opposite side wall was also held at a constant but lower temperature (20 $^{\circ}C$). The magnetic fields of various magnitude were applied up and down by permanent magnets. We measured temperatures at 5 points which are the most suitable places in cavity by the analysis record. The thermo-sensitive liquid crystal film (R20C5A) was utilized in order to visualize wall-temperature distributions. Several kinds of experiments were carried out in order to clarify the influence of direction and intensity of magnetic fields on the natural convection. It was found that the natural convection of a magnetic fluids could be controlled by the direction and intensity of the magnetic fields.

  • The rapid development of cloud computing and mobile internet service changes to an mobile cloud service environment that can serve and pay computing source that users want anywhere and anytime. But when user misses mobile device, the respond to any threat like user's personal information exposal is insufficient. This paper proposes cloud service access control model to provide secure service for mobile cloud users to other level users. The proposed role-based model performs access authority when performs user certification to adapt various access security policy. Also, the proposed model uses user's attribute information and processes before user certification therefore it lowers communication overhead and service delay. As a result, packet certification delay time is increased 3.7% and throughput of certification server is increased 10.5%.

Output Ccharacteristics of XeCl Excimer Laser Excited by Transeverse-Electron-Beam (횡방향 전자빔여기 XeCl 엑시머 레이저의 출력특성)

  • We have investigated output characteristics of XeCI excimer laser excited by transeverse electronbeam. We used e-beam output of 880 kV, 21 kA (70 ns, FWHM) and controlled current density of e-beam by pulsed magnetic coil (4.7 kG) which was fabricated around an e-beam diode (A-K gap is 21 mm) and laser chamber. We have obtained 35 J (4 atm) of e-beam deposition energy injected into laser media. The deposition energy was converted from an exposure area of Radcolor film and rising pressure of gas media which is measured by pressure jump method. The excited volume of $320cm^{3}$ was calculated. The maximum efficiency of 1.7% was obtained with the mixing ratio of HCllXe/Ar==0.2/ 6.3/93.5% and total pressure of 3 atm. Also laser output energy and specific energy were obtained 0.52 J and 1.7 J/I, respectively. For the analysis of experimental results we have developed computer simulation code. From the good agreements with the results of experiment and simulation we could theoretically explain the XeCI* formation channel. relaxation channel, and absorption channel of 308 nm.308 nm.

  • Rapid development of Internet has increased users' desire for more information, and as a result, it created 'deluge of information', generating so much information. Especially, profit-pursuing corporations have done a lot of research to secure its own technological power. However, damages caused by illegal copy of information by illegal outside users or insiders are coming to the fore as social problem. Therefore, this paper is to propose secure knowledge management system to prevent illegal copy of data by insiders. The proposed scheme is a secure knowledge management system that carries out explicit authentication for internal users using 2MAC and provides data based on the authentication, thereby preventing illegal copy of data by insiders.

Radiotherapy of Invasive Cervical Cancer Following Simple Hysterectomy (단순자궁적출술을 시행한 침윤성 자궁경부암에서의 방사선치료)

  • Purpose : Simple hysterectomy is not a standard surgery for invasive cervical carcinoma. This study was performed to investigate the efficacy of radiotherapy following simple hysterectomy in the invasive cervical cancer. Materials and Methods : Retrospective analysis was done for 19 patients with invasive cervical carcinoma who were treated with radiotherapy following simple hysterectomy from April 1989 to December 1993 The median a9e of patients was 47 years old. Patients were treated with external beam radiation therapy alone (17) or external beam radiation therapy plus intra vaginal ovoid irradiation (2). The median follow up period was 46 months. Results : The 4 year overall survival rate was $75\%$. The 4 rear local control rate was $89\%$. Two patients had recurred at the locoregional and distant sites, and another two patients at distant sites. Conclusion : We confirmed that radiotherapy is the adequate treatment modality for patients with invasive cervical cancer who underwent simple hysterectomy.

A Study on Autocontrolled SBR for Biological Nutrient Removal with External Carbon Sources (외부탄소원 주입시 영양염류의 생물학적 제거를 위한 자동제어 SBR 공정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop effective operating process in order to achieve more suitable conditions of Anoxic-Oxic-Anoxic-Stripper(AOAS) SBR through real-time control. To improve the removal efficiency, glucose, methanol and synthetic food waste acid fermentant were added as an external carbon source, In the case of glucose and synthetic food waste acid fermentant, TN, TP were removed to average 86.9%, 73.0% respectively. Methanol was removed to average 64.6%, 55.4% respectively. The synthetic food waste acid fermentant proved to be the most efficient and allowed for the substitution of an external carbon source. The removal rate of $COD_{Cr}$, was approximately 90% at all cases. The results of the study that a correlation between ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential), pH and DO and nitrification or denitrification when an external carbon source is added and when it isn't was showed that ${\Delta}ORP$ is suitable parameter. ORP reacted properly to denitrification (${\Delta}ORP<-10$) and nitrification (${\Delta}ORP<0$). The use of real-time control saved anywhere between 61 and 67 minutes at the anoxic(1) stage and 26 to 52 minutes at the oxic(1) stage. When the time saved from the anoxic(1) and oxic(1) was added to the anoxic(2) stage for the removal efficiency of TN and TP increased from 0.7 to 13.9% and 12 to 35 % respectively.

Thermodynamic Analysis on Hybrid Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell - Turbo Expander System for Natural Gas Pressure Regulation (용융탄산염연료전지와 터보팽창기를 이용한 천연가스 정압기지의 열역학적 분석)

  • In the natural gas pressure regulation station, high pressure natural gas is decompressing using pressure regulation valves. Waste pressure occurred in the pressure regulation process can be recovered through adopting turbo expanders. However, in the waste pressure recovery process, Joule Thompson effect causes below $0^{\circ}C$ and this low temperature freezes outside land of pipeline or generates methane hydrate in the pipeline which can block the pipeline. Therefore, turbo expander systems are accompanying with a boiler for preheating natural gas. Molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC), one of the high temperature fuel cell, can use natural gas as a direct fuel and is also exhausting low emission gas and generating electricity. In this paper, a thermodynamic analysis on the hybrid MCFC-turbo expander system is conducted. The fuel cell system is analyzed for the base load of the hybrid system.

  • A fuel assembly consists of five major components, i.e., a top end piece (TEP), a bottom end piece (BEP), spacer grids (SGs), guide tubes (GTs) and an instrumentation tube (IT); in addition, it also includes fuel rods (FRs). The TEP/BEP should satisfy stress intensity limits according to the conditions A and B of ASME, Section III, Division 1-Subsection NB. In a dual-cooled fuel assembly, the array and position of fuel rods are different from those in a conventional PWR fuel assembly; these changes are necessary for achieving power uprating. The flow plates of the TEP and BEP have to be modified accordingly. The pattern and shape of the flow holes were newly designed. To verify the strength compatibility, the Tresca stress limit according to the ASME code was investigated in the case of an axial load of 22.241 kN. In this paper, the stress linearization procedure for strength evaluation of a newly designed TEP is presented.

  • This study aims to numerically investigate the natural convection characteristics of a magnetic fluid in a cubic cavity. The governing equations of the magnetic fluid are solved using the Generalized-Simplified Marker and Cell Method (GSMAC). The natural convection and heat transfer characteristics of the magnetic fluid were analyzed by varying the intensity and direction of the magnetic field. As a result, it was found that the natural convection characteristics were controlled by the intensity and direction of the magnetic field, and the mean Nusselt numbers were minimized at a vertical intensity of H=-4000 and horizontal intensity of H=12000 of the magnetic field. In addition, the mean Nusselt numbers increased with the intensities of the magnetic field, regardless of the direction of the magnetic field.

  • Recently, home network system is providing more various services as home robot applied. A home robot not only basically controls home device but also services prevention of crimes, prevention of disasters through home monitoring and various entertainments while it navigates the autonomously based home network system. However, for the existing home robot to it is not easy to install all functions because the size of robot device becomes larger and the management of contents and applications executed becomes uneasy and has difficulties in adding new functions. Moreover many improvements are necessary for functioning of robot's location awareness. In this paper, we propose a more improved home robot system which uses resources of the robot efficiently as it divides the complicated operation of the robot among external digital device and adds new functions easily and recognizes the location of the robot by RFID.
