The purpose of this study is to compare the service strategies of foreign service firms between Singapore and Korea, relative to the country where their headquarters are located. Specifically this study investigates (1) how the service strategies are adaptively executed based on local circumstances, (2) to what extent the cultural and legal environments of the two countries are different, and (3) how the differences in the environments affect the adaptation of the service strategies. The findings of this study indicate that there exists the perceptual differences in the legal environments between Singapore and Korea, but no significant differences are found in the cultural environments. The differences in the legal environments, however, do not affect the adaptation of the service strategies. Interestingly enough, the foreign service firms in Singapore perceive less sensitively the need for adapting service strategies. But the foreign service firms in Korea perceive more sensitively the need for the adaptation.

The main purpose of this paper is to explore the impacts of foreign wife status and social capital on fertility among a group of Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese wives in Korea. Attention is focused on the argument that minority group status and immigrant social capital exerts an independent effect on fertility, apart from socioeconomic and demographic variables. It is hypothesized that the level and tempo of fertility of foreign wives reflect their social disadvantages and the adaptation process. Micro-data from two socio-demographic surveys were utilized to analyze the reproductive outcomes of foreign and native wives in Korea. Results of analyses reveal that foreign wives in Korea tend to have fewer children compared to native Korean women. It was found that a foreign wife's access to social capital significantly facilitates reproductive behavior. Those who engage themselves more in voluntary activities, have more friends in Korea, and possess better and higher-quality social networks tend to have more children. Foreign wives with a high degree of integration or assimilation to the new surroundings were also found to have more children than other foreign wives.

This study is to investigate and analyze the service quality and satisfaction perceived by users and librarians of the Foreign Research Information Center (FRIC). The survey results reveal that three groups of in-campus (internal) user group, external user group and interlibrary loan librarian group has highly perceived the service quality and satisfaction of the FRIC. Two user groups have statistically significant different perceptions on the service quality, loyalty, and satisfaction. Internal user group perceived more highly than external user group, in 6 items of satisfaction, 1 item of loyalty, and 7 items of service quality. Structural equation models of satisfaction and loyalty on two user groups were proved to be appropriate. Material factor including success rate of copied text and general physical status of the copy influences significantly on the user satisfaction in both groups.

Amid concentrating on inviting foreign students in the aspect of securing talents as well as advanced educational service industry in the world, the number of foreign students in Korea exceeded over 90,000 in 2015, increased to 104,262 anticipating further increase according to National Statistical Office. The government tried to expand the dormitory supply to the foreign students upon the discretion that short of the basic infrastructure in the universities such as quantitative shortage and facilities of the dormitories limited to lure the foreign students, despite the will of inviting more foreign students by the government, however, the rate of foreign students' staying in the dormitories was low with 36.0% nationwide in 2016, reflecting the difficulties of residence for the foreign students in Metropolitan areas. Hence, this study is to suggest the alternative potential as the cooperative housing for the foreign students with the expanded concept and its foundation methods, upon reviewing the concept and trend of the common dormitory such as universities-cooperative housing with the initiative of public institutions and the common dormitories for the Korean students studying in Seoul, and analyzing the university city of Paris and Tokyo International Exchange Center that are the examples of existing cooperative housing in overseas.

This paper analyzed the differences in the relationship between banking service automation and employment by bank ownership type. We found significant differences in the restructuring of the labor force and increasing banking service automation between foreign banks (owned by foreign capital) and local banks. Foreign banks showed the possibilities of reducing the regular labor force through the increase in banking service automation. However, banking service automation in local banks has reduced only the number of irregular employees but increased regular employees. This paper suggests new evidence on the differences between foreign and local banks in banking personnel management with the increase in banking service automation. This paper contributes to the preceding research areas of banking, business, and governance. In addition, this paper provides important insights on banking service automation, employment, and foreign banks for banking managers and policymakers.

This paper investigates empirically the impact of foreign investors on a firm's dividend and investment decision making in Korean stock market. Empirical results using the sample firms in non-financial firms listed in Korean stock market whose settlement month are December, we find that foreign investors who declared participation in management didn't exert significant impact on dividend increase. In the case of investment, foreign investors exerts significant impact on R&D investments. Using Hausman-Taylor Instrumental Variable method, we controlled endogeneity problem related with foreign ownership and dividend and investment policy. The contribution of this paper is that the purpose of foreign investors whether or not participate in management is the most critical point and the impacts of foreign investors on dividends and investment are different whether they participate in management or not.

This study investigates whether foreign equity ownership is associated with trading volume. This study establishes null hypothesis indicating that foreign equity ownership is not related to trading volume based on prior studies regarding foreign equity ownership. We measured trading volume as proxy of investors' heterogeneous beliefs. To exam The the hypothesis, we collected sample firms listed on the Korean Stock Exchange from the year of 2001 to the year of 2011 inclusively. Controlling for variables related with trading volume as reported in the previous studies, the regression coefficient for the foreign equity ownership showed statistically significant negative sign. These results indicate that the foreign equity ownership is negatively associated with investors' heterogeneous beliefs. This study contributes to extant literature on foreign equity ownership by providing evidence that foreign equity ownership affects investors' trading decisions. The results also help policy makers in their policy development.

많은 인원을 필요로 하는 조선업은 선박을 건조하는 현장의 제품들이 복합 공정이면서도 중후장대한 특성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 선박을 건조할 때는 종사하는 작업자 간의 작업 내용에 대한 의논과 방법의 결정에 따른 경험기술의 활용도가 높다. 그래서 작업자별 작업 방법이나 기능의 차이가 많고 그 차이만큼이나 공정 진척이나 품질에 대한 결과도 다르게 나타나게 된다. 하지만 인력 집약도가 높은 조선소 작업인력이 퇴직이나 이직 등으로 발생되는 공백을 내국인으로 채우지 못하고 경험이 없고 소통도 어려운 외국인 작업자로 대체하고 있는 실정이다. 외국계 작업자의 경우 인건비가 낮은 중소기업이나 대기업의 하도급 업체에 고용이 되는데 중소기업의 특성상 기술력의 축적이나 안전작업을 위한 사전 직무교육 등에는 여유가 없어 제한된 기간 동안의 고용이나 단순 업무에만 종사토록 하는 등의 방법으로 활용해왔다. 그러나 외국계 작업자의 고용 비중이 높아지면서 전반적인 생산성의 한계와 불안전 작업에 대한 우려로 그 관심도 높아지고 있다. 외국계 작업자의 경우 생산 현장에서 이루어지고 있는 각종 안전관련 교육이나 행사, 동료간의 소통등에 소외되면서 불안전이 가중되고있고 비자종류에 따라 체류기간이 한정되어 기술력의 유지는 어려운 현실이 될 수 밖에 없다. 이러한 외국계 작업자에게 안전에 대한 수준을 높이기 위한 방안으로 직무별 위험성평가도 작업자의 논높이에 맞게 해야 한다. 현재 활용되고 있는 4가지 위험성평가 방법을 일부 보완하여 안전수준에 맞게 실시하여 작업자 개인별 직무 수행상의 위험성에 대한 이해도가 안전에 미치는 영향을 최소화 하여 안전을 유지시키는 방안을 연구한다. 위험성평가의 취지가 기본적으로 해당 작업자 전원참여라는 중요 요소임을 감안할 때 외국인 작업자의 직무 이해도 점검은 매우 중요하다 하겠다.
