Aerodynamic Analysis of HAWTs in Yaw Conditions using Nonlinear Vortex Correction Method (비선형 와류 보정 기법을 이용한 풍력 블레이드의 요에러시 공력 해석)

  • 풍력 터빈은 복잡한 바람 조건에 노출되어 운용 되는 시스템으로서 경제성과 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서는 이러한 조건하에서 시스템에 작용하는 정확한 공력 하중 예측이 필요하다. 여러 조건 중에서도 요에러는 풍향이 수시로 바뀌기 때문에 피할 수 없는 비정상 유동 중에 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 요에러 발생시 공력 하중예측을 적절히 예측하기 위해서 와류 격자 기법을 기반으로 하는 비선형 와류 보정기법을 적용하였다. 비선형 와류 보정기법은 실속 이후의 공력 예측을 위해 기지의 공력 테이블을 이용하는 방법으로서 실속 이후의 공력 테이블 값의 양력과 와류 격자 기법에서의 양력 값이 일치하도록 순환(circulation)을 분포시키는 기법이다. 또한 요에러시에 발생할 수 있는 동적 실속을 계산하기 위해 Beddoes-Leishmen 동적 실속 모델을 비선형 와류 보정 기법에 적용하는 연구를 수행하였다. 요에러시 공력 하중 예측에 관한 수치해석 기법 연구의 적절성을 알아보기 위해 NREL-Phase VI Rotor 실험 결과와 비교 하였다. 그 결과 기존의 여타의 기법들과 비교하여 본 연구에서 제안한 기법의 적절성을 확인 할 수 있었다. 앞으로 본 연구를 바탕으로 다양한 비정상 공력 조건에 대한 풍력 블레이드의 공력 하중 해석에 대해 수행할 계획이다.

Dynamic Responses of Offshore Meteorological Tower Under Wind and Wave (바람과 파랑을 받는 해상 풍력 기상탑의 동적 응답)

  • In order to investigate the cause of damage of the offshore meteorological tower, the measured wind speed data were analyzed, the dynamic displacement due to fluctuating wind load and wave load was calculated, and the fatigue was examined for vortex-induced vibration. It was confirmed from the results that the vibration lasting for four hours occurred in the meteorological tower when the maximum wind speeds for 10 minutes were compared for both the vane anemometer and ultrasonic anemometer. The effect of the gust wind on the dynamic response of the meteorological tower was greater than the wave. However, the combined forces acting on the meteorological tower was much lower than the design force even though the wind and wave loads were simultaneously applied. The vortex-induced vibration seemed to be cause of the fatigue failure in the connecting bolts. The destruction of the offshore meteorological tower was considered to be a vortex-induced vibration, not a fluctuating fluid flows.

  • 지면효과를 받는 와류면의 2차원 비정상 전개를 이산와류법을 사용하여 연구하였다. 와류면이 말리는 정확한 형상을 얻기 위하여, 두 개의 평활기법을 비교하였다. 타원형 하중분포를 가지는 지면가까이에 있는 날개의 후류말림에 대하여 본 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 날개가 지면가까이 비행할 때, 지면효과로 인하여 와류가 날개길이방향으로 이동하였으며 날개익단부근에서 와류면의 늘림운동이 발생하였다.

  • In order to reduce the download around the Smart UAV(SUAV) at hovering, flow control using synthetic jet has been performed. Many of the complex tilt rotor flow features are captured including the leading and trailing edge separation, and the large region of separated flow beneath the wing. In order to control the leading edge and trailing edge separation, synthetic jet is located at 0.01c, $0.3c_{flap}$, $0.95c_{flap}$. As non-dimensional frequency, the flow pattern is altered and the rate of drag reduction is changed. The results show that synthetic jets shorten the vortex period and decrease the vortex size by changing local flow structure. By using leading edge jet and trailing edge jet, download is efficiently reduced compared to no control case at hovering mode.

  • To investigate the vortex induced vibrations the 2-d.o.f. spring mounted circular cylinder was tested in the wind tunnel. The circular cylinder was designed to have the translational and the rotational mode uncoupled to each other. During the wind tunnel tests the resonance behaviors of the translational and the rotational modes by the locking-on phenomena were observed. From the locking-on phenomena observed it is shown that the vortex shedding is correlated with the responses of the structures. And the forces generated by the vortex shedding are influenced by the amplitudes and the frequencies of the cylinders.

  • To study the vortex induced vibrations the wind tunnel and the two story shear building were designed and built. The wind tunnel was designed to generate the wind speed up to 24 m/s, and the building was designed to have the two lowest natural frequencies within the range of the vortex frequencies generated by the wind tunnel. The resonance behaviors by the locking-on phenomena were observed during the wind tunnel tests of the shear building with the cylinder attached. From the locking-on phenomena observed it is found that the effects of the amplitudes and the frequencies of the cylinders should be considered on the forces generated by the vortex shedding.

Airloads and Structural Loads Analysis of LCH Rotor Using a Loose CFD/CSD Coupling (유체-구조 연계해석을 통한 소형민수헬기(LCH) 공력 및 구조하중 해석)

  • The airloads and structural loads of Light Civil Helicopter (LCH) rotor are investigated using a loose CFD/CSD coupling. The structural dynamics model for LCH 5-bladed rotor cwith elastomeric bearing and inter-bladed damper is constructed using CAMRAD-II. Either isolated rotor or rotor-fuselage model is used to identify the effect of the fuselage on the aeromechanics behavior at a cruise speed of 0.28. The fuselage effect is shown to be marginal on the aeromechanics predictions of LCH rotor, though the effect can be non-negligible for the tail structure due to the prevailing root vortices strengthened by the fuselage upwash. A lifting-line based comprehensive analysis is also conducted to verify the CFD/CSD coupled analysis. The comparison study shows that the comprehensive analysis predictions are generally in good agreements with CFD/CSD coupled results. However, the predicted comprehensive analysis results underestimate peak-to-peak values of blade section airloads and elastic motions due to the limitation of unsteady aerodynamic predictions. Particularly, significant discrepancies appear in the structural loads with apparent phase differences.

Dynamic Response Analysis of Top-tensioned Riser Under Sheared Current Load (전단류 하중을 받는 상부장력 라이저의 동적 응답 해석)

  • A numerical scheme based on a mode superposition method is presented for the dynamic response analysis of a top-tensioned riser (TTR) under sheared current loads. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of the TTR have been calculated analytically for a beam with a slowly varying tension and pinned-pinned boundary conditions at the top and bottom ends. The lift coefficients and corresponding amplitudes used to estimate the vortex-induced modal force and damping for each mode were predicted via iterative calculations based on the input and output power balancing concept. Here, the power-in regions were controlled by the normal distribution function, for which the center was coincident with the lock -in location by local vortex-shedding, and the range was defined by the constant standard deviation for the reduced velocity by the local current speed. Finally, dynamic responses such as root-mean-squared displacement and stress were calculated using the mode superposition technique. In order to verify the presented scheme, a numerical calculation was performed for a TTR under an arbitrary linearly sheared current and linearly varying tension. A comparison with the results of the existing software showed that the presented scheme could give reliable and feasible solutions. Case studies were performed to investigate the effects of various current loads and tensions.

  • 본 논문에서는 이중곡률을 갖은 막구조물의 동적 불안정 현상을 연구하였다. 풍하중을 받는 막구조물의 지배방정식을 정식화할 경우 가장 중요한 것은 막 표면의 공기 압력을 합리적으로 산정하는 것이다. 베르누이 윈리에 의하여 유체 압력은 속도 퍼텐셜과 관계를 가지며 얇은 날개 원리에 의해 막 표면 공기의 움직임을 일련의 와류로 간주하고 속도 퍼텐셜을 구할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 가장 많이 쓰이는 3 절점 삼각형 막요소를 이용하여 가중 잔여치 갤러킨법을 적용한 안정 평가의 판별식을 유도하였다. 임계 풍속에 대한 초기인장력, 풍방향과 곡률의 영향도 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, dynamic instability of plane membrane structures under wind action has been studied. The key to solving the governing equations of membrane structures under wind action is how to obtain the air pressure on membrane. Based on Bernoulli's theorem, fluid pressure has a certain relationship with velocity potential. Velocity potential could be solved according to thin aerofoil theory, where air around the membrane is regarded as a sheet of vortices. In this paper, we take advantage of the most commonly used three-node triangular membrane element and weighted residual-Galerkin method to obtain the determining equation for stability evaluation. Square and rectangular membrane structures are studied. The influence of initial prestressing force and wind direction towards critical wind velocity are also analyzed in this paper.
