A study on the utilization of exhausted heat from subway for energy source of heat pump (공기열원 히트펌프의 에너지원으로서 지하철 배열 이용에 관한 연구)

  • Researches on unused energy are being continued because of the limited fossil fuel and the destruction of environment. Therefore this study was performed as follows The collectable amount of exhausted heat for an air-conditioning was calculated by the subway thermal environment prediction program. And the electric power needed by conventional heat source equipments was compared with one by unused heat source equipments when the exhausted heat was used by heat pump in heating and hot water supplying.

  • BN(Boron Nitride)은 온도와 압력 조건에 따라 안정한 상이 sp3 결합인 cubic 구조의 BN(cBN)과 sp2 결합인 hexagonal 구조의 BN(hBN or tBN)으로 나뉘는데, 이 중 cBN은 우수한 기계적, 물리적, 화학적 특성으로 인해 박막 분야에서 매우 높은 응용가능성을 지니고 있다. 하지만 cBN 박막의 합성과정에서의 필수적인 요소인 높은 압축잔류응력은 cBN을 응용분야에 적용하는데 있어 한계점으로 계속 남아 있었다. 그동안 이러한 잔류응력을 감소시키기 위해 열처리, 이온 주입, 제 3의 물질 첨가 등 다양한 관점에서 접근한 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 cBN 합성과정에서 잔류응력을 감소시키기 위한 방법으로 수소를 첨가하였고, 그에 따른 잔류응력의 변화를 분석하고, 그 과정에서 잔류응력의 형성에 수소가 어떤 역할을 하는지 규명하고자 하였다. cBN 박막은 hBN을 target으로한 unbalanced magnetron sputtering를 사용하여, 실리콘 wafer 위에 합성하였다. 증착압력은 1.3mTorr로, 수소의 첨가량을 증가시키며 잔류응력과 cBN fraction을 관찰하였다. cBN fraction은 FTIR로 분석하였고, 잔류응력은 실리콘 strip의 in-situ 곡률측정법으로 계산하였다. cBN 박막의 조성과 구조 분석, 수소의 역할 규명을 위해 RBS 및 HRTEM을 이용하였다.

Crystal Structure and Magnetic Properties of $(LaS)_xCrS_2(x{\approx}1.20)$ ($(LaS)_xCrS_2(x{\approx}1.20)$의 결정구조와 자기적 특성)

  • The $(LaS)_xCrS_2(x \approx 1.20$) of the incommensurate misfit layer was systhesized from reactant mixture of$La_S_3$,Cr and S at 1273K. Powder X-ray diffration of $(LaS)_xCrS_2(x \approx 1.20$) was indexed as a complex structure consisted with a monoclinic LaS-sublattice, a triclinic $CrS_{2}$-sublattice and their superlattice. The temperature dependence of sublattice dimension was investigated by the X-ray diffraction analysis at low temperature. The magnetic susceptibility of $(LaS)_xCrS_2(x \approx 1.20$) was measured between 77K and room temperature using a Faraday balance method. $(LaS)_xCrS_2(x \approx 1.20$) was paramagnetic on a $\sigma$-H plot at room temperature. The observed effective magnetic moment( p dr) was in fair agreement with the value calculated by spin-only contribution for $Cr^{3+}$ and spin and orbital contribution for $La^{3+}$.

  • Oceanic conditions of the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) region in the southern area of the East Sea (Japan Sea) are examined using data obtained from a CREAMS (Circulation Research if the East Asian Marginal Seas) cruise in June 1996. In 1990s, a lower temperature appears in 1996 and in this period, two branches of the TWC exist and the first branch of the TWC flows inshore of the Japanese coastal region compared to that in the other years, especially in the shallower water layer at depth less than about 200 m. The TWC cored with the higher salinity (>34.6 psu) is clearly observed over the continental shelf in the Japanese coastal region and offshore and identified by geostrophic calculation. Intrusion of the TWC into the East Sea through the Korea Strait (the Tsushima Strait) makes the density structure in the water column change and the water mass in the TWC region is unstable based on Brunt­Vaisala frequency.

  • This study is concerned with an application of the Boundary Element Method to 2-dimensional elastoplastic stress analysis on the material nonlinearities. The boundary integral formulation adopted an initial stress equation in the inelastic term. In order to determine the initial stress increment, the increment of initial elastic strain energy due to elastic increment in stressstrain curve was used as the convergence criterion during iterative process. For the validity of this procedure, the results of B.E.M. with constant elements and NISA with linear elements where compared on the thin plate with 2 edge v-notches under static tension and the thick cylinder under internal pressure. And this paper compared the results of using unmedical integral with the results of using semi-analytical integral on the plastic domain integral.

  • We have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensing interrogation method using bidirectional modulation of a Mach-Zehnder electro-optical modulator (MZ-EOM). The proposed structure consists mainly of a broadband light source (BBS), FBG, MZ-EOM, chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG), and photodetector (PD). We have obtained the transfer functions of the proposed structure and calculated the time delay from the change in the free spectral range (FSR) for ten wavelengths over the frequency range of 505 MHz to 525 MHz. The results show that the time delay and the wavelength variation have a good linear relationship with a gradient of 12.9 ps/0.2 nm, which can be usefully applied to FBG strain or temperature sensors and other multiplexed sensor applications.

  • To diagnose sensory nerve damage, patient values for thermal stimuli as quantitative sensory test (QST) can be compared with the values of the general population (absolute reference data) or to values measured at contralateral unaffected side (relative reference data). It is well know that relative reference data are more sensitive for detecting sensory abnormality than absolute reference data. However it is still lack of the studies for comparisons between relative and absolute data. This study aimed to evaluate the validity of relative reference data and compare the sensitivities of the two approaches in the orofacial region. In 19 young Korean women as normal subjects, quantitative somatosensory thermotest were done in the forehead, cheek, mentum, lower lip and tongue tip bilaterally. After we get the standard deviations (SD) of average reference data and relative reference data, the ratios SD absolute data/SD relative data were calculated. Our study showed that relative reference data for side to side comparisons in the same patient have the high ratios than the absolute reference data, i.e. the side to side comparisons with relative reference data exhibit gain in sensitivity in assessment of sensory abnormality.

Geochemistry and Metamorphism of the Gneisses in Gwangyang-Hadong Area (광양-하동지역에 분포하는 편마암류의 지구화학 및 변성작용)

  • The precambrian granitic gneiss and porphyroblastic gneiss are widely distributed in the Gwangyang-Hadong area of Korea. This study focuses on the geochemical properties and metamorphic P-T conditions of these gneisses. These gneisses are plotted according to granodiorite domain on an IUGS silica-alkali diagram. Geochemical properties of major elements suggest that these rocks are of the sub-alkalic rock series, and were farmed from S-type magmas which were generated in a syn-collision tectonic environment. The amounts of trace elements (Zn, Sc, Sr, V, etc.) decreased as $SiO_2$ concentrations increased. Almandine and spessartine mol%'s and XFe are higher in garnet rims, while pyrope mol%'s are higher in the garnet cores. This seems to be the result of garnet growth and retrogressive metamorphism. Metamorphic zones are divided into sillimanite-cordierite, sillimanite, garnet, and biotite zones. Metamorphic P-T conditions estimated from the gneisses indicate high temperature and low to medium pressure metamorphism (689-757$^{\circ}C$, 5.0-5.6 kbar), followed by medium temperature, low pressure retrorade metamorphism (579-628$^{\circ}C$, 3.1-4.5 kbar), and overprinted retrogade metamorphism (502-558$^{\circ}C$, 1.6-2.3 kbar).

  • Although the desalination technique using gas hydrate formation is at a development stage compared to the commercially well-established reverse osmosis (RO), it still draws attention because of its simplicity and moderate operational conditions especially when using refrigerants for guest gases. In this study, DFT (density functional theory)-based molecular modeling was employed to explain the energetics of the gas hydrate formation using HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) and HCFC (hydrochlorofluorocarbon) refrigerants. For guest gases, R-134a, R-227ea, R-236fa, and R-141b were selected and three cavity structures ($5^{12}$, $5^{12}6^2$, and $5^{12}6^4$) composed of water molecules were constructed. The geometries of guest gas, cavity, and cavity encapsulating guest gas were optimized by molecular modeling respectively and their located energies were then used for the calculation of binding energy between the guest gas and cavity. Finally, the comparison of binding energies was used to propose which refrigerant is more favorable for the gas hydrate formation energetically. In conclusion, R-236fa was the best choice in terms of thermodynamic spontaneity, less toxicity, and low solubility in water.

Basic Design of 36 MTD Class Natural Gas BOG Re-Liquefaction System (36 MTD급 천연가스 BOG 재액화 플랜트 기본설계)

  • In this paper, we carried out the basic design of 36 MTD natural gas BOG re-liquefaction system to recover the generated natural gas during performance test of LNG pump and natural gas compressor. The re-liquefaction process of natural gas is designed to have 1500 kg/h of liquefaction rate with reverse Brayton refrigeration cycle. With the designed process, the variation of liquefaction rate is calculated for various inlet conditions of feed gas. From results, the liquefaction rate is more sensitive for inlet temperature than gas composition. The specifications of equipments such as gas blower, natural gas compressor, cryogenic heat exchanger and nitrogen compander are determined on the basis of the designed process. The requirement of power consumption and cooling water are also determined through the basic design.
