The purpose of this paper is to analyze teaching-learning program which can be applied to mathematically gifted students in primary school, Our program is based on constructivist views on teaching and learning of mathematics. Mainly, we study the algorithmic thinking of mathematically gifted students in primary school in connection with the network problems; Eulerian graph problem, the minimum connector problem, and the shortest path problem, The above 3-subjects are not familiar with primary school mathematics, so that we adapt teaching-learning model based on the social constructivism. To achieve the purpose of this study, seventeen students in primary school participated in the study, and video type(observation) and student's mathematical note were used for collecting data while the students studied. The results of our study were summarized as follows: First, network problems based on teaching-learning model of constructivist views help students learn the algorithmic thinking. Second, the teaching-learning model based on constructivist views gives an opportunity of various mathematical thinking experience. Finally, the teaching-learning model based on constructivist views needs more the ability of teacher's research and the time of teaching for students than an ordinary teaching-learning model.

The aim of this study is to examine the diagnostic profiles and related clinical variables of children with attention and hyperactivity in psychiatric outpatient clinic. Seventy one children with age range of 5 to 14 were diagnosed by DSM-IV, and assessment battery including KEDI-WISC, KPI-C, ADS(ADHD Diagnostic System) were completed. The subjects were divided into 3 diagnostic groups:ADHD only(n=17), ADHD comorbid(n=27), Other diagnosis(n=27). The results were as follows:In ADHD comorbid group, tic disorder, developmental language disorder, borderline intellectual function, oppositional defiant/conduct disorder, and learning disorder were combined in descending order. Other diagnosis group consisted of tic disorder, borderline intellectual function, depression/anxiety, oppositional defiant/conduct disorder, and others. There were significant differences in IQ, PIQ, and VIQ among the three groups, and ADHD only group showed higher scores of IQ and VIQ than ADHD comorbid group. On the KPI-C, there were no significant differences in all subscales among the three groups. On the visual ADS, omission error and sensitivity showed significant differences among the three groups, and ADHD comorbid group represented higher omission error and lower sensitivity than other diagnostic group. The findings indicated that the inattention and hyperactivity symptoms could be diagnosed into diverse psychiatric disorders in child psychiatry, and ADHD children with comorbidity will show more problems in academic performance and school adjustment.

The concept of zero(0) and calculations involving 0 are a few of the most difficult topics that students experience in learning mathematics. Therefore, it implies that proper guidance to help students understand the desirable concept of 0 and acquire calculating process involving 0 should be provided when we teach numbers and operations. This study aims to investigate instructional situations in relation to the errors of 0 and to search for efficient ways to teach them based on the previous research. To do this, we analysed elementary mathematics textbooks and workbooks. The result showed that $0{\div}$(a number) and the division of which quotient includes 0 as a middle digit lacked in current textbooks and workbooks. We devised the learning activities of the two topics for 3rd grades and 4th grades, respectively. We expect that the activities will be helpful to devise learning activities of textbook and suggest some implications for teaching the calculations involving 0.

Objectives : The present study was conducted to investigate a correlation of ADS and KEDI-WISC measures. Methods : The data of 91 children were used. On KEDI-WISC, PIQ, VIQ, and 11 subtest measures, and on ADS, 4 variables (ommission error rate, commission error rate, response time mean, and response time deviation) were analyzed. Results : The correlations of Ommission Error Rate and Coding, Digit Span, and Arithmetic, the correlations of Commission Error Rate and Object assembly, Picture Completion, Arithmetic, Digit Span, and Coding, the correations of Response Time Mean and Coding, and the correlations of Response Time Deviation and PIQ, and Coding were significant. Conclusion : ADS variables and several IQ scores are significantly related.
Intuition in the mathematical problem solving has been stressed the importance with the logic because intuition is the cognition that give significant clue or idea to problem solving. Fischbein classified intuition by the origin; primary intuition and secondary intuition And he said the role of the personal experience and school education. Through these precedent research, we can understand the social influence. This study attempt to investigate social intuition model of Haidt, moral psychologist that has surfaced social property of intuition in terms of the mathematical problem solving. The major suggestions in problem solving and the education of intuition are followed. First, I can find the social property of intuition in the mathematical problem solving. Second, It is possible to make the mathematical problem solving model by transforming the social intuitionist model. Third, the role of teacher is important to give the meaningful experience for intuition to their students. Fourth, for reducing the errors caused by the coerciveness and globality of intuition, we need the education of checking their own intuition. In other words, we need intuition education emphasized on metacognition.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of the cognitive performance, emotional and behavioral problems among the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) groups that show the difference between visual and auditory attention. Method : Using 'ADHD Diagnostic System(ADS)', visual attention and auditory attention of 98 children diagnosed as ADHD were measured. According to the omission and commission error of ADS, they were divided into three groups ; 1) the group whose each visual omission and commission error scores were higher than each auditory omission and commission error scores(VV group), 2) the group whose each auditory omission and commission error scores were higher than each visual omission and commission error scores(AA group), 3) the group that was the rest of VV and AA group(M group). And the results of both the subscales of Korean Educational Development Institute-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children(KEDI-WISC) and the subscales of Korean Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL) among three groups were compared. Finally, the correlation between the visual omission, visual commission, auditory omission, auditory commission error and the results of KEDI-WISC, K-CBCL were investigated. Results : The results were as follows ; 1) In 98 ADHD children, the number of VV group(N=56) was higher than that of AA (N=10) and M group (N=32). 2) All mean scores of the subscales of KEDI-WISC of VV group were higher than those of M and AA group. The score of verbal IQ(p=.039) of VV group was significantly higher than that of AA group and the scores of block design(p=.015), Kaufman's factor 2(p=.045), performance IQ(p=.004) were significantly higher than those of M group. The score of full IQ(p=.004) were significantly higher than that of M and AA group. 3) The mean scores of all K-CBCL subscales of VV group were higher than those of M and AA group, except the score of Somatic complaint subscale. The score of Social subscale(p=.041) of VV group was significantly higher than that of AA group. The score of Withdrawn subscale(p=.021) of AA group was significantly higher than that of VV group. 4) There were no significant correlation between the scores of visual omission/commission error and those of each subscale of KEDI-WISC. But, there were many significant correlations between the scores of auditory omission/commission error and those of each subscale of KEDI-WISC. 5) There were significant correlation between the score of the visual omission error and that of Thought problem subscale(r=.205, p=.043) of K-CBCL. There were significant correlation between the scores of the auditory omission error and those of Social subscale(r=-.319, p=.001), Social problems subscale(r=.206, p=.042), Thought problem subscale(r=.235, p=.021). Finally, there were significant correlation between the scores of auditory commission error and those of Social subscale(r=-.241, p=.017), Thought problem subscale(r=.235, p=.020). Conclusion : The ADHD children whose auditory attention ability were higher than visual attention ability had relatively better cognitive performance and less emotional/behavioral problems than the others. The more comprehensive experiment will be needed about the cognitive performance, emotion and behavior problems of the ADHD children showing the difference between visual and auditory attention.
This study investigated preservice science teachers' understandings of philosophical foundations(i.e., ontological and epistemological beliefs) underlying constructivist notions of learning. The teacher education program these subjects participated in explicitly addressed philosophical notions consistent with different views of constructivism. For these preservice science teachers, the program provided them with the opportunity to reflect upon the implications that their ontological and epistemological commitments had for their role as a science teacher. Data from four in-depth interviews were used to explore changes in each preservice science teacher's ontological beliefs, epistemological commitments, and pedagogical preferences. Results indicated that ontological beliefs and epistemological commitments were not necessarily consistent with conceptions of science teaching and learning for these preservice teachers. While some students internalized idealist and relativist perspectives, they did not integrate these relativist epistemological views into their preferred instructional practices. Also, regarding the fallible and tentative nature of knowledge, data in this study indicated that participants' epistemological beliefs about scientific Knowledge did influence how they were thinking about their roles as science teachers. Implications for teacher education programs and research on preservice science teacher's philosophical beliefs are discussed.
This study was done to recognize the importance of errors in measurements of cephalometric radiograph and to find the anatomical structures those need special care to select as a reference points through the detection of the systematic errors and estimation of random errors. For this purose, 100 cephalometric radiographs were prepared by usual manner and 61 reference points, and 130 measurement variables were established. Measurement errors were detected and estimated by the comparison of the 25 randomly-selected samples for repeated measurements with the main sample. The following results were obtained : 1. In comparison of the repeated measurements, there were statistical significant differences in 24 variables which were 18.4% of 130 total variables. 2. The frequency of the difference in identification of the reference points between the repeated measurements was very high in the root apex of upper incisor(as), the most posterior wall of maxilla(tu), soft tissue nasion(n'), soft tissue frontal eminence(ft), and ad3 in airway. 3. After correction of reference points marking until the level of below 5% significance, the range of random errors were from 0.67 to 1.71 degree or mm. 4. The variable shown the largest random error was the interincisal angle(ILs-ILi). 5. Measurement errors were mainly caused by the lack of precision in anatomic definitions and obscure radiographic image. From the above results, the author could find the high possibility of errors in cephalometric measurements and from this point, we should include error analysis in all the studies concerning measurments. In is essential to have a concept of error analysis not only for the investigator but also for a reader of other articles.
We analyzed errors committed by Korean prospective elementary teachers in finding and interpreting quotient and remainder within measurement division of fractions. 65 prospective elementary teachers were participated in this study. They solved a word problem about measurement division of fractions. We analyzed solutions of all participants, and interviewed 5 participants of them. The results reveal many of these prospective teachers could not tell what fractional part of division result means. Thses results suggest that teacher preparation program should emphasize interpreting calculation results within given situations.
