Korean Leading Actors & Directors Network Power Analysis for Audience Stability 1998-2007 (한국영화 주요 배우.감독 네트워크의 관객동원 안정성에 관한 연구 : 1998-2007 영화를 중심으로)

  • This paper is a study on the elected korean leading actors & directors who have stable mobility power for audience and social networking. We elected 153 most reliable Korea actors and directors of stardom" (50 directors, 103 actors); they have to put on the name in the 20 high ranks, and more than twice from the total amount of Korean audience about showing 700 movies by 1998-2007. And then we analyze out 'who might be centre in social networking and social networking between actor and director," through 'Centrality Analysis' using the "UCINET" social networking analysis program Finally, we know 'Kim sang-jin director' is 'key men' and 'star' who reduced uncertainty definitely: For a long time, he combines most stable audience power with broad network successfully.

  • 협업적 여과 시스템은 사용자에 대한 클러스터링을 구축한 후, 구축된 클러스터를 기반으로 사용자에게 영화를 추천한다. 하지만 사용자 클러스터링 구축에 많은 시간이 소요되고, 사용자가 평가한 영화가 피드백이 되었을 경우 재구축이 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 사용자 클러스터링의 재구축을 용이하게 하기 위해 빈발패턴 네트워크를 이용하여 클러스터링을 구축하고, 이를 협업적 여과 시스템에 적용하여 영화를 추천한다. 구축된 클러스터를 통해 사용자 클러스터를 재구축시 소요되는 시간 비용을 줄이면서, 전통적인 협업적 여과 시스템과 유사한 성능의 추천이 가능하게 되었다.

Users' Attitude and Behavior about Movies by the Type of SNS Usage (SNS 이용 유형에 따른 영화에 대한 태도 및 행동)

  • With the increasing adoption of social network services (SNS), the cultural and art industry is also embracing SNS as an important tool of marketing. Users can share various cultural experiences on SNS easily, and companies can analyze SNS to understand the users for effective marketing. Based on this background, this study analyzed users' behavior and attitude about movies according to SNS usage types. Users of SNS were surveyed and clustered into 'information seekers', 'fun seekers', and 'relationship seekers'. Next, the behavior of the users in each cluster was compared regarding information search about movies, preferred online advertisement channels, and post-watching behavior. The results showed that the SNS usage type has significant relationship with the behavior and attitude about movies. This suggests that movie industry can establish effective online marketing strategy by analyzing SNS usage of users.

Measuring Similarity Between Movies Based on Sentiment of Tweets (트위터를 활용한 감성 기반의 영화 유사도 측정)

  • As a Social Network Service (SNS) has become an integral part of our everyday lives, millions of users can express their opinion and share information regardless of time and place. Hence sentiment analysis using micro-blogs has been studied in various field to know people's opinion on particular topics. Most of previous researches on movie reviews consider only positive and negative sentiment and use it to predict movie rating. As people feel not only positive and negative but also various emotion, the sentiment that people feel while watching a movie need to be classified in more detail to extract more information than personal preference. We measure sentiment distributions of each movie from tweets according to the Thayer's model. Then, we find similar movies by calculating similarity between each sentiment distributions. Through the experiments, we verify that our method using micro-blogs performs better than using only genre information of movies.

  • This study aims to explain the emergence of Gangnam Region of Seoul as a new cluster of the Korean film industry in the context of its history of growth, recent development characteristics, and its production system. Statistical analyses of Korean industries and in-depth interview surveys to film producers were conducted. The results of the analyses show that there has been obvious tendency of film makers' move from Chungmuro, a traditional cluster of the Korean film industry, to Gangnam and many births of new film makers in Gangnam. This new cluster, however, is operating on informal networking between film makers and related personnel, not on formalized production system composed of specialized functions and labor market. Therefore, it can be called as loosely-articulated cluster. This form of cluster has much to do with production milieu of Gangnam, such as advantages of obtaining information and consumer trend, diverse atmosphere which makes it easier to meet diverse people, favorable environment to embed creativity and fresh idea, etc. This trend of the film industry to orient a specific area can be explained in conjunction with the uniqueness of the film industry, such as uncertainty, project-based work, generation gap between film makers, participation of large companies or increasing size of investment.

  • Digital cinema industry in Korea is developing very fast. It makes the structure of Korea film industry being changed with outstanding D.I process, reduction of production cost, the convenience of distribution & screening and easy transferring to other platforms. The main reason of this fast development is due to Korea film industry monopoly structure by a few companies. In addition, Huge Korea mobile communication companies are pushing Digital cinema industry to go faster with their own net work and platforms. However, Korea digital cinema industry still has problems like standardization in releasing, the lake of data in post-production and overuse in production. It is the time that we have to think about best way for the healthy development of Korea digital cinema industry more than the fast development of it.

Social Network Analysis(SNA)-Based Korean Film Producer-Director-Actor Network Analysis : Focusing on Films Released Between 2013 and 2019 (한국영화 제작자·감독·배우 네트워크 분석: 2013~2019년 개봉작 중심으로)

  • This study selected 127 powerful Korean film producers, directors, and actors whose stable audience drawing power has been proven over the past seven years from 2013 to 2019, and viewed their network through social network analysis(SNA) to explain their power structure. It also explained the changes compared to the results of previous studies conducted on box office hits from 1998 to 2012. The producers who showed the highest audience drawing power over the past seven years were KANG Hae-jung, JANG Won-seok, LEE Eugene, HAN Jae-duk. BONG Joon-ho, KIM Yong-hwa, and RYOO Seung-wan as directors and SONG Kang-ho, HA Jung-woo, and HWANG Jung-min as actors were confirmed to exhibit the most stable audience drawing power. Meanwhile, the network formed by the 127 leading producers, filmmakers, and actors was analyzed based on closeness/ degree/eigenvector/betwenness centrality, and the result discovered a strong network involving JANG Won-seok, HAN Jae-duk, CHO Jin-woong, Don LEE, and HWANG Jung-min. This study is meaningful in that it included producers, the position which has never been discussed in previous local studies to analyze the network influencing star casting, and selected accurate box office hits by checking whether the concerned films actually reached break-even point rather than simply relying on the number of audiences or total revenue they garnered. Nonetheless, it left a hole to be filled in that it did not include the role of the management companies in the network. Therefore, a relevant follow-up discussion would be needed.

Application of K-core Algorithm as a Tool for Analyzing Complex Network (복잡계 네트워크 분석도구로써 k-core 알고리즘의 응용)

  • 복잡계 과학의 발달에 따라 많은 사회 네트워크들이 분석되고 있다. 우리는 연결선수, 중간성(betweenness), 결집계수와 같은 링크수를 중심으로 네트워크의 구조적 분석에서 나아가 복잡한 네트워크 속에서 핵심 되는 중심 모듈을 찾아 분석하였다. K-core알고리즘은 복잡계 네트워크를 가중치가 낮은 링크와 노드를 단계적으로 제거하여 복잡한 네트워크의 의미를 분석함에 있어 핵심이 되는 모듈을 얻는데 용이하다. 이에 소설, 영화, 과학 교과서, 단백질 상호작용 네트워크와 같은 다양한 분야에 이 알고리즘을 직접 적용해보았다. 그 결과, 각기 복잡한 네트워크로부터 핵심이 되는 모듈을 찾아낼 수 있었고, 전체 네트워크에서는 발견하기 힘든 유용한 정보들을 도출할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 k-core 알고리즘을 통해 핵심 네트워크를 구축하여 유용한 정보를 도출할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.
