Analysis on the Regenerator Characteristics for a Vuilleumier Heat Pump (Vuilleumier열펌프용 재생기 특성 해석)

  • This paper deals with the analysis method of regenerator characteristics for designing a vuilleumier heat pump. First, models for evaluating the reheat and the flow losses are established by the comparative study between already proposed ones. Calculations based on the second-order method are performed for the well-known schulz heat pump. Results show that operating conditions as well as design parameters significantly affect the regenerator performances. The effects of operating conditions on the reheat and the flow losses appear to be similar in trends in both the hot-warm and the cold-warm regenerators. However, the losses in the one regenerator vary oppositely to those in the other with specific design parameters such as the phase angle and the swept volume ratio being changed. Also, it is confirmed that there is an optimum aspect ratio(D/L) which minimizes total loss for each regenerator.

  • The goal of this paper is to measure and compare the performance of solar heat pump for school classroom heating. To accomplish the goal, solar heat pump with alumium roll bond type evaporator and indoor heat exchanger(condenser) was built and fully instrumented with thermocouples and pressure transducers etc. The test results showed that the COP and capacity of R-134a($CF_3CH_2F$) were higher than those of R-12($CF_2Cl_2$). The solar heat pump system for room heating was designed to show the best efficiency that the room temperature make $18{\sim}20^{\circ}C\;and\;23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ in Seoul during November, December, and January.

  • Ground source heat pump(GSHP) systems is known as environmental friendly and energy saving. Especially a ground heat exchanger is an important unit that determines the thermal performance of a system and initial cost. In design phase of vertical GSHP system, it is recommended that the effective borehole thermal resistance, be determined from in-situ thermal response test. In this study, ground effective thermal conductivity was categorized by a region. As a result of the study, the ground thermal conductivity of national average was analyzed as 2.56 W/mK. The highest regional average of thermal conductivity is 2.68 W/mK in Seoul, and the lowest is 2.28 W/mK in Busan. Also, the thermal conductivity on the coast has been analyzed approximately 30% lower than the average.

  • There is a close relation between the heat generation in the fuel cell stack and the fuel cell performance. In PEM fuel Gell vehicles, the stack coolant temperature is about $65^{\circ}C$, which is far lower than that for general automobile engine. Therefore, it is hard to release heat generated in the stack by using a radiator of limited size because of the reduced temperature difference between the coolant and the ambient air. In this study, indirect stack cooling system using $CO_2$ heat pump was designed and its stack cooling performance in releasing heat to the ambient was investigated. This work focuses on a series of processes that grasp the relation among the fuel cell power, the radiator capacity and the stack temperature. The purpose of this work is to find out a way to properly release sufficient amount of heat through the finite sized radiator, so that the stack power general ion can not be deteriorated due to the stack temperature increase. The optimization between the compressor power consumption and the fuel cel1 output power can be carried out to maximize the performance of fuel cell system.

  • A conceptual thermoelectric heat pump(cooling mode) of small capacity is designed. Its performance is investigated through parametric analysis. COP and cooling capacity decease as the ambient temperature increases with ${\mu}$, J, T$\sub$wi/, fixed. To design a system of fixed capacity comes to calculate ${\mu}$ and J when T$\sub$wi/, and T$\sub$a/ are given. As v is fixed by semi-conductor manufacturers, optimum combination of n and I should be searched for ν. Optimum current could be calculated using ${\mu}$-J curve and optimum value of ${\mu}$. COR$\sub$R/ increases as water flow rate increases and T$\sub$a/ decreases. The effect of heat transfer coefficient at hot(heat releasing) side is more significant than that at cold(heat absorbing) side.

  • This paper is a study on integrated air-conditioning system for 1-ton class commercial vehicle based on electric vehicle. In the case of an electric commercial vehicle, since the opening and closing of the door is frequently performed in order to get in and out of the cargo, the heat loss largely occurs. Therefore, the heating and cooling load is required to be larger than the electric vehicle. As a result, the energy consumed by the heating and cooling system is larger than the passenger electric car in order to satisfy the heat comfort required by passengers. In order to overcome these disadvantages, we performed research using an efficient integrated air conditioning system. Finally, the design and analysis of a heat pump system for heating and a electrical compressor for cooling need to be proceed to develop a high-efficiency air conditioning system for improving the commerciality of 1 ton-class electric trucks and expanding the industrial ecosystem in the electric truck sector.

  • Peak cooling load of large buildings is generally greater than their peak heating load. Internal and solar heat gains are used fur selection of adquate equipment in large building in cold winter climate like Canada and even Korea. The cost of geothermal heat exchanger to meet the cooling loads can increase the initial cost of ground source heat pump system to the extend less costly conventional system often chosen. Thermal ice storage system has been used for many years in Korea to reduce chiller capacity and shift Peak electrical time and demand. A distribution system designed to take advantage of heat extracted from the ice, and use of geothermal loop (geothermal heat exchanger) to heat as an alternate heat source and sink is well known to provide many benifits. The use of thermal energy storage (TES) reduces the heat pump capacity and peak cooling load needed in large building by as much as 40 to $60\%$ with less mechanical equipment and less space for mechanical room. Additionally TES can reduce the size and cost of the geothermal loop by 1/3 to 1/4 compared to ground coupled heat pump system that is designed to meet the peak heating and cooling load and also can eliminate difficuties of geothermal loop installation such as space requirements and thermal conditions of soil and rock at the urban area.

  • Static seals are used to seal high temperature gas and cryogenic fluid under high pressure, at interfaces between liquid rocket engine components such as combustion chamber, turbopump, gas generator, valves, etc. As thermal expansion and contraction at assembly interfaces cause undesirable leakage under cryogenic and high temperature environments, static seals applied for sealing of joint interfaces without relative motion should be designed properly. The additional function of rotation at the sealing face is also required for static seals, when the spherical flange is used for improvement of assembly at misalignment interfaces. In this study, structural analysis and leak tightness test of simulating test rig for several important interfaces are performed, to verify structural integrity of static seals.

위성광학탑재체 궤도시험을 위한 진동차단장치

  • 인공위성은 지상에서 설계 제작된 후에 발사체에 탑재되어 궤도에 진입되어 위성에 부여된 고유임무를 수행하게 된다. 위성체가 임무를 수행하는 우주공간은 고진공 환경과 태양 복사열에 의한 고온 환경 및 극저온이 반복되는 가혹한 환경으로 특징지어진다. 때때로 위성체는 이러한 가혹한 우주환경의 영향으로 인해 주요 부품의 기능장애가 초래되기도 하며 이는 결국 임무의 실패로 이어지도 한다. 따라서 고진공과 극저온 환경으로 일컬어지는 우주환경을 지상에서 모사하여 위성체의 안정성 및 신뢰성을 시험하기 위해서 열진공 시험장비를 이용한 열진공시험을 수행한다. 한국항공우주연구원에서는 인공위성의 탑재체인 광학카메라의 국산화 개발을 위하여 우주공간의 고진공과 극저온 상태를 모사할 수 있는 $\varphi4m\timesL10m$ 규모의 광학탑재체 전용 열진공챔버를 국산화 제작하였다. 관측 위성용 광학카메라는 초고정밀 장비로서, 이를 테스트하기 위한 광학탑재체용 진공챔버는 특히 진동환경에 매우 민감한 하여 10-7 grms 이하의 진동레벨을 허용하고 있다. 그러나 진공용기는 지진 및 외부 환경으로부터의 시스템외부진동과 진공펌프 및 기타 장비들로부터의 내부 진동환경에 항상 노출되어 있으며, 가진 주파수가 구조물 자체의 고유진동수와 일치될 경우 공진이 발생하여 시스템에 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로, 외부 진동 및 챔버 자체 진동이 광학계에 전달되지 않도록 진동차단장치가 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 광학탑재체 궤도환경시험용 챔버에 대한 진동차단장치의 개발 및 활용 예를 논의하고자 한다.
