The Effect of After-treatment on the Permeability of Polysulfone Hollow Fiber Membranes (후처리조건에 따른 한외여과용 폴리설포중공사막의 투과특성에 관한 연구)

  • The effects of after-treatment condition on the permeability of polysulfone hollow fiber membranes were investigated. It was well known that the permeability of and the rejection of hollow fiber membranes prepared by dry-wet spinning technique was highly affected by spinning conditions such as composition of spinning solution, inner and outer coagulant and spinning height. But these are also governed by after-treatment condition such as drying, hot water treatment and glycerine treatment. Since it was difficult to remove DMAc and NMP in membranes by washing with in cold water and even traces of such solvent affected the reproducibility of the membrane characteristics, the hot water-treatment should be required.

Grain Refining and Age Hardening of Mg-Zn Alloys by Addition of Cu and Si (Cu 및 Si첨가에 의한 Mg-Zn합금계의 입자미세화 및 시효경화)

  • In order to refine the grain size of Mg-Zn alloy 0.5 to 6wt.%Cu or Si elements were added. Alloy ingot was made under vacuum atmosphere of 4 ${\times}$ 10$\^$-4/ Torr in the quartz tube coated by BN. Grain size and hardness were measured after solution treatment for 8 hours at 435$^{\circ}C$. Optimal condition for grain size refining effect was obtained at the minimum composition of 2wt.%Cu or 1.5wt.%Si addition to Mg-6wt%Zn alloy. Age hardening behavior was experimented at the optimal compositions of the Mg-6wt.%Zn, Mg-6wt.% Zn-2wt.%Cu and Mg-6wt.% Zn-1.5wt.%Si. The hardness increment due to fine grain size was higher at the Mg-Zn-Cu alloy system, but that due to age hardening was higher at the Mg-Zn-Si alloy system.

  • The characteristics of copper thin films and via hole filling capability were investigated by pulsed electrodeposition method. Especially, the effects of additives on the properties of copper thin films were studied. Copper films, which were deposited by pulsed electrodeposition using commercial additives, had low tensile stress value under 83.4 MPa and high preferred Cu (111) texture. Via holes with $0.25{\mu}m$ in diameter and 6 : 1 aspect ratio were successfully filled without any defects by superfilling. It was observed that copper microstructure deformed by twining. After heat treatment at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 k in vacuum furnace, grain size was 1 or 2 times as large as film thickness and the bamboo structure was formed. Heat treated copper films showed good resistivities of $1.8\~2.0{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$.

Synthesis and Crystallization of Fine SiC-${Si_3}{N_4}$Composite Powders by the Vapor Phase Reaction (기상반응에 의한 SiC-${Si_3}{N_4}$복합 분말의 제조 및 결정화)

  • 본 연구에서는 기상 반응법을 이용하여 TMS(Tetramethylsilane:Si($CH_3$)$_4$)와 NH$_3$그리고 H$_2$의 혼합기체로부터 반응 온도 1000~120$0^{\circ}C$ 및 입력비(NH$_3$/Si($CH_3$)$_4$) 1~3의 조건에서 초미분의 SiC-Si$_3$N$_4$복합 분말을 합성하였다. 합성되어진 복합 분말들의 결정상의 변화와 평균 입경을 알아보기 위해 XRD와 TEM 분석을 행한 결과, 구형의 비정질 분말이 형성되었으며, 입자의 크기는 약 70~130nm이었다. 입자의 크기는 입력비에 관계없이 거의 일정하였으나 반응 온도가 증가함에 따라서 감소하였다. FT-IR과 EA 분석 결과, 합성되어진 분말은 Si, N, C, 그리고 H로 이루어진 화합물임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 입력비가 다른 조건에서 합성되어진 분말을 $N_2$분위기 하에서 155$0^{\circ}C$로 2시간 열처리를 행한 결과, 낮은 입력비인 경우 $\beta$-SiC, $\alpha$-Si$_3$N$_4$$\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$의 결정상들이 혼재하였으나, 높은 입력비인 경우는 결정화 후 $\alpha$-Si$_3$N$_4$상만이 존재하였다.

Proteolytic Properties of Saewoojeot (Salted and Fermented Shrimp) on Meat Proteins (새우젓의 육류단백질 분해 특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the proteolytic properties of saewoojeot (salted and fermented shrimp) on various meat proteins. NaCl content was decreased less than 2% by electrodialysis. As electrodialysis time was passed, the protease activity was increased. The proteolytic activity of crude protease on muscle proteins of beef, pork, chicken was analyzed by SDS-PAGE. Crude enzyme easily degradated both heat-denatured and native meat proteins. Protein degradation was rapidly occurred within 5 min and most all myofibrilar protein was disappeared. Heat-denatured chicken meat (100%) was most easily degraded than heat-denatured pork meat (47%) and beef meat (31%).

  • Since the heating values of swine manures were very low at 859~1,075 kcal/kg, it was necessary to convert to carbonization residue by carbonization processes among thermal processes. The most important factor in the carbonization process of swine manure is the carbonization temperature, and it was evaluated the optimal range of carbonization temperature for swine manure in this study by the thermal characteristics and the reaction kinetics. The carbonization of swine manure could be described by the 1st order reaction and Arrhenius equation. The frequency factor (lnA) and the activation energy were estimated to be 3.05~13.08 and 6.94~18.05 kcal/mol, respectively. The range of optimal carbonization temperature range of swine manure was $260{\sim}300^{\circ}C$.

Fabrication of $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLD and Its Physical Characteristics ($CaSO_4:Eu$ TLD의 제작과 물리적 특성)

  • In this study, the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLDs are fabricated and their trap parameters are determined. The optimum concentration of Eu for fabrication of the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLD is 0.5 mol% and optimum temperature is $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours sintering in air. The glow curve of $CaSO_4:Eu$ consists of two glow peaks and these peaks are isolated by thermal bleaching method. Trap parameters of two glow peaks are measured using the initial rise, the peak shape, the heating rate and the least square curve fitting methods. The activation energies of the glow peak I and II are 1.00 eV and 1.09 eV, and the frequency factors are $7.04{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and $5.12{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and the kinetic orders are 1.11 and 1.33, respectively.

Optimization of Pretreatment of Persimmon Peel for Ethanol Production by Yeast Fermentation (효모를 이용한 에탄올 생산을 위한 감껍질 전처리조건의 최적화)

  • A response surface method based on a central composite design experiment was used to determine the optimum conditions for pretreatment of persimmon peel. It was mathematically predicted that the maximum amount of reducing sugars would be obtained at an $H_2SO_4$ concentration of 1.77% (w/v) and a heat treatment time of 26.4 min. A reducing sugar concentration of 63.23 g/l was obtained under the optimum pretreatment conditions determined by RSM. Under anaerobic growth conditions, Saccharomyces cerevisiae NK28 produced 15.52 g/l of ethanol with a yield of 0.34 g ethanol/g glucose from pretreated persimmon peel, which corresponded to 14% and 26% enhancements in ethanol productivity and ethanol yield, respectively, compared with those obtained in aerobic growth conditions. This study suggests that persimmon peel might be a useful substrate for bioethanol production by yeast fermentation.

  • For the synthesis of crystalline LAS glass by sol-gel method, the effect of operation conditions including metal alkoxide ratio, nucleating agent composition and heat treatment on the crystalline properties was experimentally investigated. The gelation time and crystallization temperature were proportionally affected by the mole ratio of TEOS in metal alkoxides solution. The addition of $TiO_2$ had an influence on the increasing of the gelation time, but the crystallization temperature was rarely dependent on the adding of nucleating agent. The crystallinity of LAS glass was improved by the nucleating agent under same heat treatment conditions.

Characteristics of Endo-Polygalacturonase from Korean jujube (한국산 대추의 Endo-Polygalacturonase의 특성)

  • The optimum pH and temperature for endo-polygalacturonase activity from Jujube were 5.0 and $50^{\circ}C$. The range of its stability to pH was 4.0 to 5.0. The enzyme was inactivated about 35% by treatment at $70^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. It was found that $Ag^+$, $Zn^{++}$ and $Mg^{++}$ increased the enzyme activity. In contrast, $Ba^{++}$, $Hg^{++}$, $Pb^{++}$, $Ca^{++}$, $Mn^{++}$, $Cu^{++}$, $Fe^{+++}$, $Na^+$ and $K^+$ decreased it. The enzyme was inactivated by treatment with maleic anhydride, iodine and 2,4-dinitrophenol. The results indicate that active site is a imidazole group on the enzyme.
