The Effect of LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%) Active Layers on Oxygen Transport Properties of LSCF/GDC (20 : 80 vol%) Dual-phase Membrane (LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%) 활성층이 LSCF/GDC (20 : 80 vol%) 복합 분리막의 산소투과 거동에 미치는 영향)

  • In the present study, disc-type LSCF/GDC (20 : 80 vol%) dual-phase membranes having porous LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%) active layers were prepared and effect of active layers on oxygen ion transport behavior was investigated. Introduction of active layers improved drastically oxygen flux due to enhanced electron conductivity and oxygen surface exchange activity. As firing temperature of active layer increased from $900^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$, oxygen flux increased due to improved contact between membrane and active layer or between grains of active layer. The enhanced contact would improve oxygen ion and electron transports from active layer to membrane. Also, as thickness of active layer increased from 10 to $20{\mu}m$, oxygen flux decreased since thick active layer rather prevented oxygen molecules diffusing through the pores. And, STF infiltration improved oxygen flux due to enhanced oxygen reduction reaction rate. The experimental data announces that coating and property control of active layer is an effective method to improve oxygen flux of dual-phase oxygen transport membrane.

  • The new core making method economized on core sand requested. The new method is heating core box until it reaches reasonable temperature and then spraying core sand with core binder into core box. Inner temperature distribution have to uniform in order to form core of uniform thickness. Therefore, in this study we treat of inner temperature distribution of core box in priority. First, determine proper torch number. Next, optimize the torch position to minimize the average of absolute deviation(AVEDEV) of inner temperature. The results are as followed : 1. The torch number that makes inner temperature distribution about $300^\circ{C}$ uniformly is 25. 2. When $S_H$ and $S_V$ is 0.7, the torch position is optimized and AVEDEV is 5.85.

  • A comparative study on the treatment of the turbulent heat flux with the elliptic mlending second moment closure for a natural convection is performed. Four cases of different treating the turbulent heat flux are considered. Those are the generalized gradient diffusion hypothesis (GGDH) the algebraic flux model (AFM) and the differential heat flux model (DFM). These models are implemented in the computer code specially designed for evaluation of turbulent models. Calculations are performed for a turbulent natural convection in the 1:5 rectangular cavity and the calculated results are compared with the experimental data. The results show that three models produce nearly the same accuracy of solutions.

  • 유류유출사고와 같이 하천 수표면의 흐름에 따라 이동 확산하는 부유성 오염물질의 혼합해석을 위해 많은 연구자들은 입자추적모형을 사용한 혼합모의를 수행해왔다. 입자추적모형에서 오염물질의 혼합은 평균 유속 분포에 의한 결정론적인 이동과 난류유동에 의한 무작위적인 혼합으로 나타내며, 난류혼합에 의한 수평확산은 난류확산계수로 조절한다. 따라서 표면흐름에 의한 난류확산계수의 산정을 위해 많은 연구자들은 부유성 입자를 이용한 실내실험을 수행하여 수평확산계수를 산정했고(Engelund, 1969; Cederwall, 1971), 최근에는 GPS의 발전으로 인해 해양영역에서 GPS를 장착한 표면부자를 활용한 확산실험을 통해 수평확산계수를 산정한 바 있다(Kjellson and $D{\ddot{o}}{\ddot{o}}s$, 2012; Alpers 등, 2013). 하천수질오염사고의 약 43.5%가 유류유출에 의한 것이며(환경부, 2013), 이에 따라 표면흐름에 의한 오염물질 혼합해석이 필요하나, 하천에서 수평확산계수 산정을 위한 현장실험연구는 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 낙동강 본류에서 GPS부자를 이용한 입자추적실험을 수행하여 표면흐름에 의한 확산계수를 산정했다. GPS부자를 이용한 입자추적실험은 낙동강의 강정고령보 하류와 구미보 하류의 각각 세 지점에서 수행되었다. GPS부자는 바람에 의한 교란을 최소화하기 위해 지름 10 cm의 구형으로 제작하였으며 시범테스트를 통해 입자의 주 궤적 변화가 크지 않은 지점에 GPS부자를 투입했다. GPS부자는 오염물질의 사고유출을 가정하여 한 지점에 투입했고 GPS부자 사이의 간섭을 최소화하기 위해 25 ~ 35개의 GPS부자를 이용했다. 표면흐름에 의해 이동하는 부자의 위치는 GPS에 시계열로 저장됐고 ADCP를 이용하여 실험당시의 수리량을 측정했다. 입자위치의 시계열자료로부터 GPS부자의 확산범위의 시간변화를 계산했고 단순 모멘트법을 이용하여 종, 횡 방향 확산계수를 계산했다. 그 결과, 종 방향 확산계수는 $0.003{\sim}0.041m^2/s$로 계산되었고 횡 방향 확산 계수는 $0.001{\sim}0.012m^2/s$로 계산되어, 흐름방향의 유속성분에 의한 확산이 지배적인 것으로 나타났다. 지류 합류부에서는 이송이 지배적인 혼합이 발생되었고(Pe>1) Pe의 증가에 따라 수평확산계수가 감소되었다. 25~35개 GPS부자 궤적의 앙상블 평균으로부터 계산한 Integral time scale은 모멘트법으로부터 계산한 종, 횡 방향 확산계수와 비례하는 것으로 나타나, Taylor(1921)의 이론과 일치했다. 또한 실험수로에서 수행된 기존연구결과와 비교한 결과, 하폭 대 수심비, 마찰항의 증가에 따라 수평확산계수가 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다.

A Study on the Ignition Delay Effect by Flame-Resistance Paint Treatment (방염 처리에 따른 화재지연 효과 연구)

  • 17 kinds of fire resistant paint which are currently used were painted on the MDF(middle density fiber board), which suitable to the regulation of Fire Service Act. And we investigate a ignition delay effect under a exposure condition of radiative heat of fire. Radiative heat flux was controlled from $10kW/m^2$ to $30kW/m^2$ using the cone heater. Ignition time, ignition type and surface temperature of the sample were measured. Based on the experimental result, critical heat flux of the fire resistant paint treated sample was $10kW/m^2$ and there were no ignition delay effect above the $30kW/m^2$. And it was found that it will be difficult to expect the fire resistant effect above $400^{\circ}C$ of sample surface temperature.

  • In the present work, a numerical study of a horizontal falling film evaporator in a multi-effect distillation (MED) plant is performed. Tube bundles in the evaporator are described as porous media, and a volume-averaged method is applied. To calculate the fluid flow and phase change in the evaporator due to heat transfer in the system, FLUENT and user-defined functions (UDF) are used. To observe the performance of the evaporator under different operational conditions, tests are conducted for a steam mass flux ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 $kg/m^2s$ in the horizontal tube, for mass fraction of the noncondensable gas in the tube inlet ranging from 0% to 1%, and for film Reynolds numbers ranging from 100 to 1,000 for the falling film. The evaporation rate increases with the steam mass flux and Reynolds number. In contrast, the evaporation rate decreases by 0.87% with a 1% increase in the mass fraction of the noncondensable gas in the tube.

Residual Stress Distribution on the Fillet Weldment used by Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 이용한 필렛용접 이음부의 잔류응력분포)

  • A transient heat transfer analysis and thermo-elastic analysis have been performed for the residual stress distribution on the fillet weldment used by finite element method. Specimen is fabricated single-pass fillet welding. This computation was performed for conditions including surface heat flux and temperature dependent thermo-physical properties using by heat input as parameter. Also, cut-off temperature of residual stress estimation by thermo-elastic analysis is determined. The fillet weldment were measured to determined their residual stress distributions for using hole-drilling method. As result, it was found that large tensile residual stress is about material yield strength, and the numerical simulation results for finite element method similar to residual stresses by hole-drilling method and other exiting research. Also, cut-off temperature is effectively determined by temperature which calculated maximum thermal stress equal to material yield strength.

  • The corrosion inhibition of imatinib mesylate (IMT) on mild steel in 0.25 M sulphuric acid has been studied using gravimetric and potentiodynamic polarization techniques at various concentrations of inhibitor, temperature and fluid velocities. The results obtained showed that, inhibition efficiency (% IE) increases with increasing concentration of the inhibitor. The adsorption process on mild steel surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The values of Gibbs free energies of adsorption obtained suggest that, the adsorption process of IMT on mild steel is chemisorption. Thermodynamic parameters were evaluated and discussed. The electron orbital density distribution of HOMO and LUMO of IMT was used to discuss the inhibition mechanism. FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM images were used to analyze the surface adsorbed film.

Development of Empirical Correlation to Calculate Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Coefficient on Inclined Tube Surface (경사진 튜브 표면의 풀비등 열전달계수 계산을 위한 실험식 개발)

  • A new empirical correlation was developed to identify the effect of an inclination angle on pool boiling heat transfer coefficient of a tube submerged in the saturated water at atmospheric pressure. Through the experiments and the survey of published results 431 data points were obtained and the nonlinear least square method was used as a regression technique. The heat flux of the tube($0{\sim}120kW/m^2$), inclination angle($0^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$), and the length divided by the diameter of a tube(18~42.52) were selected as major parameters. The newly developed correlation well predicts the experimental data within ${\pm}18%$, with some exceptions.

Synthesis of SiC Whiskers from Rice Hulls (생왕겨를 이용한 실리콘 카바이드 합성)

  • SiC whiskers were synthesized from rice hulls and activated carbon by carbothermal reduction method. The effects of gases and various additives were studied. Carbothermal reduction to produce SiC whiskers was conducted at $1450^{\circ}C$ and the synthesized SiC whiskers were examined using SEM and XRD. The length of whiskers is increased with the increases of $H_2$concentration and total gas flows. The most favorable form of SiC whiskers couble be obtained in the following experimental conditins : Ar : $H_2$=300:45(ml/min), $SiO_2$(inrice hulls): $CaF_2$=1:0.5:0.5(mole ratio) and the addition of Ni flakes ($1{\times}1$mm).
