금속복합재료의 열간압출공정에 있어서 압출비가 섬유의 파단 및 배향에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Extrusion Ratios on Fiber Breakage and Orientation in Hot Extrusion Process in Metal Matrix Composites)

  • The aluminar short fiber reinforced composite materials for hot extrusion were fabricated by semi-solid stirring method, and extruded at extrusion temperature $400^{\circ}C$ with various extrusion ratio. The hot extrusion load of volume fraction 15% metal matrix composites and base alloy Al7075 has been compared. The fiber length distribution, fiber breakage and fiber orientation are investiged to know the fiber behaviour in before and after hot extrusion. The tensile strength of the hot extruded billet are experimentally determined for different of extrusion ratios, and compared with theorically calculated strength.

  • This paper describes some research of Computer-Aided Process Planning and Die Design of Hot Forging for axisymmetric parts produced by the press. An approach to the system is based on knowledge based system. The system has been written in AutoLisp with personal computer. Knowledges for process planning & die design are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbooks, relevent references and empirical know-how of field experts in hot forging companies. The developed system is composed of five main modules, such as input module, process planning module, die design module, flow simulation module and output module which are used independently or in all. The final output is generated in graphic from. The developed system which aids designer provides powerful capabilities for process planning and die design of hot forging. This system also provides approximate flow pattern.

  • In this research, a hot and cold combined forging process for manufacturing net-shape one-way clutch bearing outer race of an automobile automatic transmission unit is developed. The process is composed of hot forging for manufacturing an optimized gear-like perform and precision cold forging for sizing the perform into final net-shape product. Finite element simulation techniques are applied to find the optimized process designs including blank and die shapes. The predictions and experiments are compared, revealing that they are in good agreement with each other. The dimensional test showed that the important dimensional requirements on gear tooth-like shape of the forged product were fulfilled.

  • In this paper, an aluminum ring forging process of manufacturing an optimized perform for a hot forging process is simulated using AFDEX 3D, a general-purpose metal forming simulator based on rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element method. Non-isothermal analysis is carried out and the predictions are compared with the experiments in terms of dimensional accuracy. It was shown that the predictions are in good agreement with the experiments.

  • Lower arm for automobile has been made in steel traditionally. Nowadays steel is being substituted fur aluminum to reduce weight of automobile. Widely applied production method of aluminum component has been casting processes or cast/forging processes. But casting or cast/forging processes have limits of application to parts which is required high strength durability like automotive component. In this research, hot forging process has been adopted to produce aluminum lower arm to ensure required mechanical properties. To reduce production cost, 2 pieces with 1 blow process was developed. Optimization and verification of hot forging process for aluminum lower arm was performed by computer aided engineering using finite volume methods.

  • Titanium-6242 $({\alpha}+{\beta})$ alloy has been used for aircraft engine components such as disks and blades, because it has an excellent strength/weight ratio at high temperatures. When this material is forged to manufacture disks, process parameters should be carefully designed to control strain and temperature distributions within the process windows by which desirable mechanical properties can be produced. In the present investigation, it was intended to design the process parameters for a conventional hot forging of this material by using a rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element analysis technique. It was assumed that the process was performed by a screw press which is capable of maintaining a constant ram speed during loading. From the analysis results, it was found out that the initial temperature of the workpiece and the die shape were important parameters to control the forging process. In result, these parameters were properly designed for hot forging of a disk with specific dimensions.

  • This research describes some developments of computer-aided process planning and die design for hot forging products of H-shaped plane strain produced by the press. The system is composed of three main modules(process planning module, die design module and simulation module) which are used independently or in all. Systm capabilities include as follows: 1. In die design module, using the results of process planning module, the shape and size of bolcker and finish die in each operation are determined and the ouput id generated in graphic form for manufacturing drawing. 3. In simulation module, the flow pattern of workpiece and the load/stroke curve are approximately predicted. Design rules for process planning and die design are extracted from plasticity theories, handbooks, relevant references and empirical know-how of field experts in hot forging companies. The developed system provides poweful capabilities for process planning and die design of hot forging products.

  • In this study, the formability was predicted using a finite element method-based forming simulation program to manufacture ring-shaped parts with multiple rectangular grooves through a hot forging process. The hot forging process was designed into four processes. In the first and second processes, the disk-shaped raw material was transformed into the shape of a bowl. In the third process, the inner lower part of the bowl was sheared to form a ring shape. In the fourth process, the outer surface of the upper part of the ring was partially sheared to create multiple rectangular grooves. Since the lower mold for the first and second processes is the same, mold costs can be reduced. In the third process, burrs are expected to occur on the shear surface, so burr removal work is required in the actual process. The fourth process requires more than one forging operation because the rectangular groove cannot be made uniformly in one operation.

  • In mechanical industries, forging is one of the basic process. But comparing the other developed industries, forging industries can not reach at the level of that development. In forging industries, the quality of the products totally depends on the skills of workers and also the precision of the equipments. Particularly because the open die forging industry is unable to deviate from the past method of production and all works are manually progressed, the operator is always exposed to the danger. In the regard some additional device has been made especially. Thus, in this research, by using the forklift as the means for the manipulation of the development object system, it tries to be comprised the process automation. After than it is fitted with the forklift for safe and easy handling of jobs and products during open die forging process. First of all, development system mold has been assembled to the system, after than it is assembled with forklift. This development system has been applied for handling of large scale products more than 300kg, and the satisfactory result with uniform quality of the products have been achieved due to this mechanical setup.

9mm 합금타이타늄 중간 선재 연구 (A Study on The Φ 9mm Titanium Alloy Wire)

  • Ti-3Al-2.5V 잉고트를 제작하고 직경 9mm 합금타이타늄 wire로 가공하여 수입소재와 비교하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 잉고트는 산소함량이 0.11wt%이고 철 함량이 0.085wt%로서 ASTM Gr.9 규격을 만족하였다. 9mm 합금 타이타늄 wire 경도는 225-250Hv로 비슷한 결과를 얻었고, 인장강도는 수입소재가 804MPa이고, 국내 개발품은 734MPa이었다. 연신율은 수입소재가 12%이고 국내 개발품은 22%였다. 직경 400mm 잉고트에서 단조 및 다단 열간 압연공정을 통해 직경 9.0mm 타이타늄합금선재를 제작하는 새로운 제작공정을 개발하였다.
