  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mental practice about functional performance of affected limb to unilateral neglect and ADL(Activities of Daily Living) in person with stroke. A single subject experimental research with ABA design was employed in this study. The experiment formed 18 sessions in total: 5 sessions for baseline, 10 sessions for mental practice treatment, and 3 sessions for the second baseline. Mental practice was composed of performing 3 functional activities(dressing clothes, make-up with materials and arrangement, folding clothes). It took 5 minutes at once and 15 minutes in total daily. The unilateral neglect was measured by reading test, writing test, and Baking Tray Task. ADL was assessed by COPM. The results indicated that unilateral neglect test scores were all reduced, and the score of COPM was clinically significant. Mental practice for performing of functional activities was effective method to reduce unilateral neglect and improve ADL in person with stroke.

  • In order to represent a play script using XML, a DTD has been defined and used on the web. However, it is not easy to make XML scripts using text editors for a writer who is not familiar with XML. Moreover, editors do not help actor/actresses use XML scripts for practicing plays. In this research, we develop a syntax-directed XML editor designed for writing XML scripts easily. Also, we implement a system that help actor/actresses practice plays together with multi-clients. Play events are synchronized by a time server synchronizing clocks of participants. We have evaluated the performance of various event implementation techniques through experiments and have used an appropriate technique for synchronizing play events. By using the system, a play writer can easily make an XML script and actor/actresses practice the play using the script.

  • This study is about the scale to evaluate the data of the countermeasures in the 'simulation based government exercise' (tentative name). The criteria and weighting of the scale is a standard for evaluating the data of each agency input. This maintains the objectivity and consistency of the evaluation, which complements the subjective evaluation of the observer. Therefore, the criteria should accommodate the purpose of the government exercise evaluation, the possibility of measurement in the simulation environment, the objectivity, no-duplication and causality between criteria, and the grade applying the evaluation results, and the weighting should be set. In this study, three major criteria of timeliness, accuracy, and appropriateness is set up for the evaluation scale and it consists of sub-criteria classified into three classes below respectively and the concept of it was defined. The weighting was calculated by AHP analysis considering the hierarchical structure of it. When this evaluation scale is applied to the 'simulation based government exercise' in the future, it will be possible to secure consistency and objectivity of the evaluation of measures by integrating the quantified evaluation into the observation evaluation and to conduct AAR by scientific techniques.

  • This study introduces conducting practice tool for conducting majoring students. There have been various types of related research, but most of them have not been optimized for the conducting major. In addition, we thought that it would be a tool to be able to carry like a musical instrument in order to practice conducting without restriction of place and time. And also, it will be one of the few tools to focus on queuing. The practice tool presented in this study use the Doppler effect to overcome the limitations of previous studies. It was concluded that the Doppler method, which is highly compatible, simple, and accurate, is superior to motion detection methods using existing sensors. It is expected that it will be used not only as a conducting but also as an interaction tool of various media.

  • Purpose: In order to enhance the efficiency of respiratory gated 4-dimensional radiation therapy for more regular and stable respiratory period and amplitude, a respiration training system was designed, and its efficacy was evaluated. Materials and Methods: The experiment was designed to measure the difference in respiration regularity following the use of a training system. A total of 11 subjects (9 volunteers and 2 patients) were included in the experiments. Three different breathing signals, including free breathing (free-breathing), guided breathing that followed training software (guided-breathing), and free breathing after the guided-breathing (post guided-breathing), were consecutively recorded in each subject. The peak-to-peak (PTP) period of the breathing signal, standard deviation (SD), peak-amplitude and its SD, area of the one cycle of the breathing wave form, and its root mean square (RMS) were measured and computed. Results: The temporal regularity was significantly improved in guided-breathing since the SD of breathing period reduced (free-breathing 0.568 vs guided-breathing 0.344, p=0.0013). The SD of the breathing period representing the post guided-breathing was also reduced, but the difference was not statistically significant (free-breathing 0.568 vs. guided-breathing 0.512, p=ns). Also the SD of measured amplitude was reduced in guided-breathing (free-breathing 1.317 vs. guided-breathing 1.068, p=0.187), although not significant. This indicated that the tidal volume for each breath was kept more even in guided-breathing compared to free-breathing. There was no change in breathing pattern between free-breathing and guided-breathing. The average area of breathing wave form and its RMS in postguided-breathing, however, was reduced by 7% and 5.9%, respectively. Conclusion: The guided-breathing was more stable and regular than the other forms of breathing data. Therefore, the developed respiratory training system was effective in improving the temporal regularity and maintaining a more even tidal volume.

  • This study is a study on the interlocking method between emergency preparedness simulation model and military exercise war game model. The national emergency preparedness government exercises are being carried out by a message exercise and technology development for simulation models is being carried out to create a situation similar to the actual practice. In order to create a situation similar to the actual war, the military situation must be reflected and to do so, a link with the military exercise war game model is needed. The military exercise war game model applies HLA/RTI, which is a standardized interlocking method for various models such as Taegeuk JOS, and it is necessary to apply HLA/RTI linkage method to link with these military exercise war game models. In addition, since the emergency preparedness simulation model requires limited information such as enemy location and enemy attack situation on major facilities in the military exercise model, a method of interlocking that can select and link information is required. Therefore, in this study, the interlocking interface design plan is presented in order to selectively link the interlocking method and information between the emergency preparedness simulation model and the military exercise war game model. The main functions of interlocking interface include federation synchronization, storage and recovery, object management service, time management, and data filtering functions.

  • It was proposed that proper problem solving practice should improve students' questioning in physics. In the previous researches, improvement in students' questioning was observed after practice of making questions given the examples of desirable questions. In this study, the problem solving strategies used by experts were introduced to students in the form of step-by-step guide to follow in problem solving practice. The directions in the guide were concrete and operational for students to understand the expected behaviors explicitly. It was assumed that students could pinpoint the difficulty specifically through this guide, which would result in positive effects on students' recognition and expression of their own questions. The subjects in this study were college freshmen enrolled in the introductory physics for science or engineering major. The physics problems from the textbook were solved and practiced in the traditional way for controlled group. Worksheets designed to follow experts' problem solving strategies were used for the experimental group. Two groups were taught in the same way during lecture part of the class. Students were asked to describe the difficulties they had during homeworks or tests. Questions in this study means these descriptions written by students although they were not necessarily in the form of interrogative sentences. The questions were analyzed both in quantity and quality. Quantitatively, more students spontaneously turned in their questions in the experimental group than in the controlled group. Regarding the quality, there were more students in the experimental group than in the controlled group who described their difficulties in detail or recognized the need for the procedural knowledge.
