Evaluation of Physical Properties of Recycled Cement Powder for Recycling Radioactive Waste Concrete (방사화된 폐콘크리트의 고화재 활용을 위한 재생시멘트 분말의 물성 평가)

  • Recently, as the radioactive waste disposal facility becomes scarce, the importance of efficient disposal of waste from nuclear power plants is increasing. This study was conducted to utilize radioactive waste concrete powder as solidifying agent for radioactive waste treatment. Paste with an age of more than one year was used with a disk mill to have a particle size of 150㎛ or less, and treated at temperatures of 500℃, 600℃ and 700℃ for 2 hours. In order to simulate the radioactive cement powder, aqueous solutions of Di-water, CsCl 1M, SrCl2 1M and CoCl2 1M were used as blending water at W/C 0.7 and to improve fluidity, polycarboxylate type superplasticizer was used at 0.4 wt.% based on the weight of recycled cement paste powder. Characterisation was carried out using vicat method, strength and density.

  • In the present investigation, the chloride ion penetration resistance of nuclear power plant concrete with varying water-to-cement ratios was assessed. A comparative analysis was conducted on concretes that do not incorporate supplementary cementitious materials, such as fly ash, using permanently decommissioned nuclear structures as a reference. The objective is to employ this acquired data as a fundamental resource for the evaluation of the residual service life of nuclear power plant structures in subsequent studies.

Effects of cellulose nanocrystals and graphene oxide on hydration heat of cement paste (셀룰로오스 나노크리스탈과 산화그래핀이 시멘트 페이스트의 수화열에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the compressive strength and hydration heat of cement paste mixed with cellulose nanocrystal(CNC) and graphene oxide (GO) were evaluated. The difference was compared by mixing 0.1 vol.% ~0.4 vol.% of CNC and 0.05 wt.% ~ 0.1 wt.% of GO in a cement paste with a water cement ratio of 0.3. As a result, it was confirmed that the compressive strength increased as CNC and GO were mixed respectively, and then the compressive strength decreased when the appropriate mixing rate was exceeded. In the hydration heat measurement, there was no significant difference when only CNC was mixed, but it was confirmed that the hydration heat decreased as the amount of CNC mixing increased when used in combination with GO.

Concept of 'original form' in architectural heritage and its relationship with conservation - Focusing on the critical analysis on the past practices of timber buildings in Korea - (건축문화재의 원형(原形) 개념과 보존의 관계 - 한국 목조건축문화재 수리 역사의 비판적 검토를 중심으로 -)

  • An understanding of 'original form' plays an important role as it is the starting point of heritage conservation. This paper delineated several types of understanding on 'original form' over times, and aims at analyzing the way how such concepts has provided a platform of repair works of timber buildings in Korea over times. Conservation in Korea was initiated by the attitude of the Japanese authority during the Colonial period and 'restoring into the earliest form', which had been set in the early stage of the Japanese conservation, has strongly influenced on Korean practice during the period. Such attitude has lasted even after the independence of Korea. In Japan, however, the attitude has shifted to taking a careful decision on the alteration of the existing form during the 1930s. In addition, examination and research in the repair work became essential steps to conduct along with the publication of the report of works. In Korea there has been lack of understanding on the importance of examination and research in repair works and the publication of report of the works has not been mandatory so that it has emphasized on the 'form' in conservation aiming at 'restoring the earliest form'. Such attitude has created the problem of replacing original material during the work which should aim at preserving and maintaining heritage in Korea. Because of these circumstances in preserving the architectural cultural properties in Korea, cultural buildings had succeeded in preserving the outer appearance but there are remaining questions on preserving the original states of them. This paper has pointed out that it is necessary to set out the principles of conserving 'original condition' through further study and discussion based on the careful consideration on both the international principles and Korean context.

A study on the name of the walls in YeonggeonUigwe Based on the gap wall of the Main Hall and Yeongnyeongjeon Hall of Jongmyo Shrine in the Joseon Dynasty (영건의궤로 살펴본 벽(壁)의 명칭에 관한 고찰 - 종묘 정전·영녕전의 갑벽(甲壁)을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the names and types of walls constructed in the late Joseon Dynasty in YeonggeonUigwe, a record of construction works of the Joseon Dynasty, and to examine the current status and name of walls constructed in the main hall and the Yeongnyeongjeon Hall of Jongmyo Shrine. The results of the study are as follows. First, the name of the wall can be divided into four types depending on the characteristics, including direction, location, shape, function, material, and complexity, and was used as a compound word in front of the wall. Second, some of the wall types related to the material were found to have differences in the timing of theypes of walls. Since the 18th century, the use of earthen walls has been reduced, and the use of wooden walls and paper walls are often used. Third, the walls of the Jongmyo Shrine were composed of a mud wall and a fireproof wall. A fireproof wall was installed in the main hall, including a pillar, while the Yeongnyeongjeon Hall was installed only between the pillar and the pillar. Fourth, the Gap Wall can be defined as the "wall constructed at the upper part of the chamber used in the construction of the building in Jongmyo." This study is meaningful in that it attempted to clarify the definition of a wall in the late Joseon Dynasty by examining the names and examples of walls used in the late Joseon Dynasty, focusing on walls that lacked research in familiarity.

Habitability Evaluation of Two-way Void Slab for Vertical Vibration (이방향 중공슬래브의 연직진동에 관한 거주 성능 평가)

  • 이방향 중공슬래브 시스템의 구조특성 및 성능평가 연구의 일부로 실제 건축물에 적용된 이방향 중공슬래브의 연직진동을 측정 및 분석하였다. 캡슐형 경량체를 사용한 이방향 중공슬래브가 적용된 두 건축물에서 바닥 용도상 일상적인 진동발생원이라고 가정할 수 있는 75 kg 성인의 보행, 달리기, 제자리 점프에 대해 슬래브의 연직진동을 측정하였다. 두 대상 건축물은 각각 연구소와 교육시설 용도로 설계 및 건축되었다. 측정된 수직 가속도 데이터로 일본건축학회 환경기준에 (AIJES-2004) 근거하여 진동수 범위 3~30 Hz에 대해 1/3 옥타브 밴드 분석을 실시하였다. 이 분석을 바탕으로 AIJEES-2004에 제시한 기준에 따라 바닥의 연직진동에 대한 거주 성능을 평가한 결과, 측정한 세 건축물에 적용된 이방향 중공슬래브 모두 보행과 달리기에 대해서는 피진동자의 10% 미만이 인지, 제자리 점프에 대해서는 50~70% 미만이 인지할 수 있는 것으로 나타나, 이방향 중공슬래브가 바닥의 연직 진동에 대해 거주 성능이 양호함을 보여주었다.

A Study on the Characteristics of the Haeeumwonji and the Main Palace of the Goryo Dynasty (혜음원지와 고려 정궁지 건축유구의 특성에 대한 고찰)

  • This paper is to clarify on the characteristics of the Haeeumwonji and the Main Palace of the Goryo Dynasty. The architectural techniques and construction methods such as embankment, stylobate, stairway, foundation stone, and pave are similar to those of the Haeeumwonji and the Main Palace of the Goryo Dynasty. In order to express the hierarchy of the area and building, the materials, techniques, and forms of the embankment, stylobate, stairway, foundation stone and pave were used differently. The paving of the floor of the main building and area is also an active expression of the hierarchy and status of the building area and the building through the use of building materials, techniques and forms. This result confirms the support of Goryeo royal family and the upper class for the construction of Haeeumwonji, which is recorded in the historical documents. And it also shows that the architectural techniques and processing method of the same period were shared in the capital and provinces, which is an important clue that proves that the capital-centered architectural technology has spread to the provinces. It is expected that additional research will be needed on the characteristics of the period of 12th century architecture technique in which Haeeumwonji was built.

Ontology-based Recommendation System for Maintenance of Korean Architectural Heritage

  • In this paper, we propose ontology-based recommendation system for supporting maintenance of Korean architectural heritage. This study includes the following: 1) design of ontology expressing repair information of architectural heritage, 2) creation of repair case DB, 3) creation of a recommendation system of repair method. For this study, we designed the ontology that expresses the information of Korean wooden building cultural heritage by referring to the existing heritage ontologies. Second, we created the repair information database based on the repair contents and the expert interview data provided by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Cultural Heritage Administration. Third, we developed a system that recommends the repair method of Korean wooden architectural heritage with the most similar phenomena and causes. This study contributes to sharing repair knowledge and determining repair methods for architectural heritage repair.

Classification of Architectural Design Elements for the Risk Assessment of Bomb Attack of Multi-Use Buildings (다중이용시설의 폭발물 테러위험도 평가를 위한 건축계획요소 체계화 연구)

  • As a preliminary step for developing vulnerability assessment model of terrorism, this study aims to deduce and classify architectural design elements of multi-use buildings to protect them from terrorism using explosives. For these objectives, eleven domestic and foreign guidelines of anti-terrorism, including RVS which is one of the commonly used tools for assessing vulnerability to terrorism, were analyzed. As results, 2 scenarios of explosive attack, 4 layers of defense, and 58 architectural design elements for risk assessment of terrorism were deduced. And the design elements were categorized into 18 groups based on their purpose and function to take into account the supplementary effects among them. Then, the design measures applicable for each element were classified into several grades on the basis of its protection or risk level. Lastly, 11 multi-use buildings were selected and investigated how the elements suggested in this study were applied to them.

The Establishment of Walking Energy-Weighted Visibility ERAM Model to Analyze the 3D Vertical and Horizontal Network Spaces in a Building (3차원 수직·수평 연결 네트워크 건축 공간분석을 위한 보행에너지 가중 Visibility ERAM 모델 구축)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a walking energy weighted ERAM model that can predict the pedestrian volume by the connection structure of the vertical and horizontal spaces within a three-dimensional building. The process of building a walking-energy weighted ERAM model is as follows. First, the spatial graph was used to reproduce three-dimensional buildings with vertical and horizontal spatial connection structures. Second, the walking energy was measured on the spatial graph. Third, ERAM model was used to apply weights with spatial connection properties in random walking environment, and the walking energy weights were applied to the ERAM model to calculate the walk energy weighted ERAM values and visualize the distribution of pedestrian flow. To verify the validation of the established model, existing and proposed spatial analysis models were compared to real space. The results of this study are as follows : The model proposed in this study showed as much elaborated estimation of pedestrian traffic flow in real space as in traditional spatial analysis models, and also it showed much higher level of forecasting pedestrian traffic flow in real space than existing models.
